Matthew 28

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 After the Sabbath, and towards dawn on the first day of the week, Mary of Magdala and the other Marywent to visit the sepulchre.	1 Pasado el sábado, al alborear el primer día de la semana, María Magdalena y la otra María fueron a ver el sepulcro.
2 And suddenly there was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord, descending from heaven, cameand rol ed away the stone and sat on it.	2 De pronto se produjo un gran terremoto, pues el Angel del Señor bajó del cielo y, acercándose, hizo rodar la piedra y se sentó encima de ella.
3 His face was like lightning, his robe white as snow.	3 Su aspecto era como el relámpago y su vestido blanco como la nieve.
4 The guards were so shaken by fear of him that they were like dead men.	4 Los guardias, atemorizados ante él, se pusieron a temblar y se quedaron como muertos.
5 But the angel spoke; and he said to the women, 'There is no need for you to be afraid. I know you arelooking for Jesus, who was crucified.	5 El Angel se dirigió a las mujeres y les dijo: «Vosotras no temáis, pues sé que buscáis a Jesús, el Crucificado;
6 He is not here, for he has risen, as he said he would. Come and see the place where he lay,	6 no está aquí, ha resucitado, como lo había dicho. Venid, ved el lugar donde estaba.
7 then go quickly and tel his disciples, "He has risen from the dead and now he is going ahead of you toGalilee; that is where you wil see him." Look! I have told you.'	7 Y ahora id enseguida a decir a sus discípulos: “Ha resucitado de entre los muertos e irá delante de vosotros a Galilea; allí le veréis.” Ya os lo he dicho».
8 Fil ed with awe and great joy the women came quickly away from the tomb and ran to tel his disciples.	8 Ellas partieron a toda prisa del sepulcro, con miedo y gran gozo, y corrieron a dar la noticia a sus discípulos.
9 And suddenly, coming to meet them, was Jesus. 'Greetings,' he said. And the women came up to himand, clasping his feet, they did him homage.	9 En esto, Jesús les salió al encuentro y les dijo: «¡Dios os guarde!» Y ellas, acercándose, se asieron de sus pies y le adoraron.
10 Then Jesus said to them, 'Do not be afraid; go and tell my brothers that they must leave for Galilee;there they wil see me.'	10 Entonces les dice Jesús: «No temáis. Id, avisad a mis hermanos que vayan a Galilea; allí me verán».
11 Now while they were on their way, some of the guards went off into the city to tell the chief priests althat had happened.	11 Mientras ellas iban, algunos de la guardia fueron a la ciudad a contar a los sumos sacerdotes todo lo que había pasado.
12 These held a meeting with the elders and, after some discussion, handed a considerable sum ofmoney to the soldiers	12 Estos, reunidos con los ancianos, celebraron consejo y dieron una buena suma de dinero a los soldados,
13 with these instructions, 'This is what you must say, "His disciples came during the night and stole him away while we were asleep."	13 advirtiéndoles: «Decid: “Sus discípulos vinieron de noche y le robaron mientras nosotros dormíamos.”
14 And should the governor come to hear of this, we undertake to put things right with him ourselvesand to see that you do not get into trouble.'	14 Y si la cosa llega a oídos del procurador, nosotros le convenceremos y os evitaremos complicaciones».
15 So they took the money and carried out their instructions, and to this day that is the story among theJews.	15 Ellos tomaron el dinero y procedieron según las instrucciones recibidas. Y se corrió esa versión entre los judíos, hasta el día de hoy.
16 Meanwhile the eleven disciples set out for Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had arranged tomeet them.	16 Por su parte, los once discípulos marcharon a Galilea, al monte que Jesús les había indicado.
17 When they saw him they fell down before him, though some hesitated.	17 Y al verle le adoraron; algunos sin embargo dudaron.
18 Jesus came up and spoke to them. He said, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given tome.	18 Jesús se acercó a ellos y les habló así: «Me ha sido dado todo poder en el cielo y en la tierra.
19 Go, therefore, make disciples of al nations; baptise them in the name of the Father and of the Sonand of the Holy Spirit,	19 Id, pues, y haced discípulos a todas las gentes bautizándolas en el nombre del Padre y del Hijo y del Espíritu Santo,
20 and teach them to observe al the commands I gave you. And look, I am with you always; yes, to theend of time.'	20 y enseñándoles a guardar todo lo que yo os he mandado. Y he aquí que yo estoy con vosotros todos los días hasta el fin del mundo».
