Matthew 13

1 That same day, Jesus left the house and sat by the lakeside,	1 ויהי ביום ההוא ויצא ישוע מן הבית וישב על הים
2 but such large crowds gathered round him that he got into a boat and sat there. The people all stoodon the shore,	2 ויקהלו אליו המון עם רב וירד אל האניה וישב בה וכל העם עמדים על שפת הים
3 and he told them many things in parables. He said, 'Listen, a sower went out to sow.	3 וירב לדבר אליהם במשלים לאמר הנה הזורע יצא לזרע
4 As he sowed, some seeds fel on the edge of the path, and the birds came and ate them up.	4 ובזרעו נפל מן הזרע על יד הדרך ויבא העוף ויאכלהו
5 Others fel on patches of rock where they found little soil and sprang up at once, because there was nodepth of earth;	5 ויש אשר נפל על מקמות סלע אשר אין לו שם אדמה הרבה וימהר לצמח כי לא היה לו עמק אדמה
6 but as soon as the sun came up they were scorched and, not having any roots, they withered away.	6 ויהי כזרח השמש ויצרב וייבש כי לא היה לו שרש
7 Others fel among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them.	7 ויש אשר נפל בין הקצים ויעלו הקצים וימעכהו
8 Others fel on rich soil and produced their crop, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.	8 ויש אשר נפל על האדמה הטובה ויתן פרי זה מאה שערים וזה ששים וזה שלשים
9 Anyone who has ears should listen!'	9 מי אשר אזנים לו לשמע ישמע
10 Then the disciples went up to him and asked, 'Why do you talk to them in parables?'	10 ויגשו אליו התלמידים ויאמרו למה זה במשלים תדבר אליהם
11 In answer, he said, 'Because to you is granted to understand the mysteries of the kingdom ofHeaven, but to them it is not granted.	11 ויען ויאמר כי לכם נתן לדעת את סודות מלכות השמים ולהם לא נתן
12 Anyone who has wil be given more and wil have more than enough; but anyone who has not will bedeprived even of what he has.	12 כי מי שיש לו נתן ינתן לו ויעדיף ומי שאין לו גם את אשר יש לו יקח ממנו
13 The reason I talk to them in parables is that they look without seeing and listen without hearing orunderstanding.	13 על כן במשלים אדבר אליהם כי בראתם לא יראו ובשמעם לא ישמעו אף לא יבינו
14 So in their case what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah is being fulfil ed: Listen and listen, but neverunderstand! Look and look, but never perceive!	14 ותקים בהם נבואת ישעיהו האמרת שמעו שמוע ואל תבינו וראו ראו ואל תדעו
15 This people's heart has grown coarse, their ears dul ed, they have shut their eyes tight to avoid usingtheir eyes to see, their ears to hear, their heart to understand, changing their ways and being healed by me.	15 כי השמן לב העם הזה ואזניו הכבד ועיניו השע פן יראה בעיניו ובאזניו ישמע ולבבו יבין ושב ורפא לו
16 'But blessed are your eyes because they see, your ears because they hear!	16 ואתם אשרי עיניכם כי תראינה ואזניכם כי תשמענה
17 In truth I tel you, many prophets and upright people longed to see what you see, and never saw it; tohear what you hear, and never heard it.	17 כי אמן אמר אני לכם נביאים וצדיקים רבים נכספו לראת את אשר אתם ראים ולא ראוהו ולשמע את אשר אתם שמעים ולא שמעוהו
18 'So pay attention to the parable of the sower.	18 לכן אתם שמעו נא את משל הזורע
19 When anyone hears the word of the kingdom without understanding, the Evil One comes and carriesoff what was sown in his heart: this is the seed sown on the edge of the path.	19 כל איש שמע את דבר המלכות ולא יבינהו ובא הרע וחטף את הזרוע בלבבו הוא הנזרע על יד הדרך
20 The seed sown on patches of rock is someone who hears the word and welcomes it at once with joy.	20 והנזרע על הסלע הוא השמע את הדבר וימהר ויקחנו בשמחה
21 But such a person has no root deep down and does not last; should some trial come, or somepersecution on account of the word, at once he falls away.	21 אך אין לו שרש תחתיו ורק לשעה יעמד ובהיות צרה ורדיפה על אדות הדבר מיד נכשל
22 The seed sown in thorns is someone who hears the word, but the worry of the world and the lure ofriches choke the word and so it produces nothing.	22 והנזרע בין הקצים הוא השמע את הדבר ודאגת העולם הזה ומרמת העשר ימעכו את הדבר ופרי לא יהיה לו
23 And the seed sown in rich soil is someone who hears the word and understands it; this is the onewho yields a harvest and produces now a hundredfold, now sixty, now thirty.'	23 והנזרע על האדמה הטובה הוא השמע את הדבר ומבין אתו אף יעשה פרי ונתן זה מאה שערים וזה ששים וזה שלשים
24 He put another parable before them, 'The kingdom of Heaven may be compared to a man whosowed good seed in his field.	24 וישם לפניהם משל אחר לאמר מלכות השמים דומה לאיש אשר זרע זרע טוב בשדהו
25 While everybody was asleep his enemy came, sowed darnel all among the wheat, and made off.	25 ויהי בנפל תרדמה על האנשים ויבא איבו ויזרע זונין בתוך החטים וילך לו
26 When the new wheat sprouted and ripened, then the darnel appeared as wel .	26 וכאשר פרח הדשא ויעש פרי ויראו גם הזונין
27 The owner's labourers went to him and said, "Sir, was it not good seed that you sowed in your field?If so, where does the darnel come from?"	27 ויגשו עבדי בעל הבית ויאמרו אליו אדנינו הלא זרע טוב זרעת בשדך ומאין לו הזונין
28 He said to them, "Some enemy has done this." And the labourers said, "Do you want us to go andweed it out?"	28 ויאמר להם איש איב עשה זאת ויאמרו אליו העבדים היש את נפשך כי נלך ונלקט אתם
29 But he said, "No, because when you weed out the darnel you might pul up the wheat with it.	29 ויאמר לא פן בלקטכם את הזונין תשרשו גם את החטים
30 Let them both grow til the harvest; and at harvest time I shall say to the reapers: First col ect thedarnel and tie it in bundles to be burnt, then gather the wheat into my barn." '	30 הניחו אתם ויגדלו שניהם יחד עד הקציר והיה בעת הקציר אמר לקוצרים לקטו בראשונה את הזונין ואגדו אתם אגדות לשרפם ואת החטים אספו לאוצרי
31 He put another parable before them, 'The kingdom of Heaven is like a mustard seed which a mantook and sowed in his field.	31 וישם לפניהם משל אחר לאמר מלכות השמים דומה לגרגר של חרדל אשר לקחו איש ויזרעהו בשדהו
32 It is the smal est of all the seeds, but when it has grown it is the biggest of shrubs and becomes atree, so that the birds of the air can come and shelter in its branches.'	32 והוא קטן מכל הזרועים וכאשר צמח גדול הוא מן הירקות והיה לעץ עד אשר יבאו עוף השמים וקננו בענפיו
33 He told them another parable, 'The kingdom of Heaven is like the yeast a woman took and mixed inwith three measures of flour til it was leavened al through.'	33 וישא עוד משלו ויאמר מלכות השמים דומה לשאר אשר לקחתו אשה ותטמנהו בשלש סאים קמח עד כי יחמץ כלו
34 In al this Jesus spoke to the crowds in parables; indeed, he would never speak to them except inparables.	34 כל זאת דבר ישוע במשלים אל המון העם ובבלי משל לא דבר אליהם
35 This was to fulfil what was spoken by the prophet: I will speak to you in parables, unfold what hasbeen hidden since the foundation of the world.	35 למלאת את אשר דבר הנביא לאמר אפתחה במשל פי אביעה חידות מני קדם
36 Then, leaving the crowds, he went to the house; and his disciples came to him and said, 'Explain tous the parable about the darnel in the field.'	36 אז שלח ישוע את המון העם ויבא הביתה ויגשו אליו תלמידיו ויאמרו באר נא לנו את משל זוני השדה
37 He said in reply, 'The sower of the good seed is the Son of man.	37 ויען ויאמר אליהם הזורע את הזרע הטוב הוא בן האדם
38 The field is the world; the good seed is the subjects of the kingdom; the darnel, the subjects of theEvil One;	38 והשדה הוא העולם והזרע הטוב בני המלכות הם והזונין בני הרע המה
39 the enemy who sowed it, the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; the reapers are the angels.	39 והאיב אשר זרעם הוא השטן והקציר הוא קץ העולם והקצרים הם המלאכים
40 Well then, just as the darnel is gathered up and burnt in the fire, so it wil be at the end of time.	40 והנה כאשר ילקטו הזונין ונשרפו באש כן יהיה בקץ העולם הזה
41 The Son of man wil send his angels and they wil gather out of his kingdom al causes of fal ing andal who do evil,	41 בן האדם ישלח את מלאכיו ולקטו ממלכותו את כל המכשלות ואת כל פעלי האון
42 and throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and grinding of teeth.	42 והשליכו אתם אל תנור האש שם תהיה היללה וחרק השנים
43 Then the upright will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Anyone who has ears shouldlisten!	43 אז יזהירו הצדיקים כשמש במלכות אביהם מי אשר אזנים לו לשמע ישמע
44 'The kingdom of Heaven is like treasure hidden in a field which someone has found; he hides it again,goes off in his joy, sel s everything he owns and buys the field.	44 עוד דומה מלכות השמים לאוצר טמון בשדה אשר מצאו איש ויטמנהו ובשמחתו ילך ומכר את כל אשר לו וקנה את השדה ההוא
45 'Again, the kingdom of Heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls;	45 עוד דומה מלכות השמים לסחר המבקש מרגליות טבות
46 when he finds one of great value he goes and sells everything he owns and buys it.	46 וכאשר מצא מרגלית אחת יקרה מאד הלך לו וימכר את כל אשר לו ויקן אתה
47 'Again, the kingdom of Heaven is like a dragnet that is cast in the sea and brings in a haul of al kindsof fish.	47 עוד דומה מלכות השמים למכמרת אשר הורדה לים ומינים שונים יאספו לתוכה
48 When it is full, the fishermen bring it ashore; then, sitting down, they collect the good ones in basketsand throw away those that are no use.	48 וכאשר נמלאה העלו אתה אל שפת הים וישבו וילקטו את המינים הטובים לתוך הכלים ואת המשחתים השליכו חוצה
49 This is how it will be at the end of time: the angels wil appear and separate the wicked from theupright,	49 כן יהיה בקץ העולם יצאו המלאכים והבדילו את הרשעים מתוך הצדיקים
50 to throw them into the blazing furnace, where there wil be weeping and grinding of teeth.	50 והשליכום אל תנור האש שם תהיה היללה וחרק השנים
51 'Have you understood al these?' They said, 'Yes.'	51 ויאמר אליהם ישוע האתם הבינותם את כל זאת ויאמרו אליו כן אדנינו
52 And he said to them, 'Wel then, every scribe who becomes a disciple of the kingdom of Heaven islike a householder who brings out from his storeroom new things as well as old.'	52 ויאמר אליהם על כן כל סופר המלמד למלכות השמים דומה לאיש בעל הבית המוציא מאוצרו חדשות וישנות
53 When Jesus had finished these parables he left the district;	53 ויהי ככלות ישוע את המשלים האלה ויעבר משם
54 and, coming to his home town, he taught the people in their synagogue in such a way that they wereastonished and said, 'Where did the man get this wisdom and these miraculous powers?	54 ויבא לארצו וילמד אתם בבית כנסתם עד כי השתוממו ויאמרו מאין לזה החכמה הזאת והגבורות
55 This is the carpenter's son, surely? Is not his mother the woman cal ed Mary, and his brothers Jamesand Joseph and Simon and Jude?	55 הלא זה הוא בן החרש הלא אמו שמה מרים ואחיו יעקב ויוסי ושמעון ויהודה
56 His sisters, too, are they not al here with us? So where did the man get it all?'	56 ואחיותיו הלא כלן אתנו הן ומאין איפוא לו כל אלה
57 And they would not accept him. But Jesus said to them, 'A prophet is despised only in his owncountry and in his own house,'	57 ויהי להם למכשול ויאמר ישוע אליהם אין הנביא נקלה כי אם בארצו ובביתו
58 and he did not work many miracles there because of their lack of faith.	58 ולא עשה שם גבורות רבות מפני חסר אמונתם
