1 That same day, Jesus left the house and sat by the lakeside,	1 In quel giorno poi Gesù uscito dalla casa stava a sedere alla riva del mare.
2 but such large crowds gathered round him that he got into a boat and sat there. The people all stoodon the shore,	2 E si radunò intorno a lui gran turba di popolo; talmente che entrato in una barca vi si pose a sedere: e tutta la turba restò sul lido.
3 and he told them many things in parables. He said, 'Listen, a sower went out to sow.	3 E parlò ad essi di molte cose per via di parabole, dicendo: Ecco, che un seminatore andò per seminare.
4 As he sowed, some seeds fel on the edge of the path, and the birds came and ate them up.	4 E mentre egli spargeva il seme, cadde parte lungo la strada: e sopraggiunsero gli uccelli dell'aria, e lo mangiarono.
5 Others fel on patches of rock where they found little soil and sprang up at once, because there was nodepth of earth;	5 Parte cadde in luoghi sassosi, ove non avea molta terra: e subito spuntò fuora, perchè non avea profondità di terreno.
6 but as soon as the sun came up they were scorched and, not having any roots, they withered away.	6 Ma levatosi il sole lo infocò: e per non avere radice seccò.
7 Others fel among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them.	7 Un'altra parte cadde tra le spine: e crebber le spine, e lo suffocarono.
8 Others fel on rich soil and produced their crop, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.	8 Un'altra finalmente cadde sopra una buona terra, e fruttificò, dove cento per uno, dove sessanta, e dove trenta.
9 Anyone who has ears should listen!'	9 Chi ha orecchie da intendere, intenda.
10 Then the disciples went up to him and asked, 'Why do you talk to them in parables?'	10 E accostatisi i suoi discepoli gli dissero: Per qual motivo parli tu adessi per via di parabole?
11 In answer, he said, 'Because to you is granted to understand the mysteries of the kingdom ofHeaven, but to them it is not granted.	11 Ed ei rispondendo disse loro: Perchè a voi è concesso d'intendere i misterj del regno de' cieli; ma ad essi ciò non è stato concesso.
12 Anyone who has wil be given more and wil have more than enough; but anyone who has not will bedeprived even of what he has.	12 Imperocché a chi ha, sarà dato, e sarà nell'abbondanza; ma a chi non ha, sarà tolto anche quello, che ha.
13 The reason I talk to them in parables is that they look without seeing and listen without hearing orunderstanding.	13 Per questo parlo loro per via di parabole, perchè vedendo non vedono, e udendo non odono, né intendono.
14 So in their case what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah is being fulfil ed: Listen and listen, but neverunderstand! Look and look, but never perceive!	14 E adempiesi in essi la profezia d'Isaia, che dice: Udirete colle vostre orecchie e non intenderete: e mirerete co' vostri occhi e non vedrete.
15 This people's heart has grown coarse, their ears dul ed, they have shut their eyes tight to avoid usingtheir eyes to see, their ears to hear, their heart to understand, changing their ways and being healed by me.	15 Imperocché questo popolo ha un cuore crasso, ed è duro d'orecchie, ed ha chiusi gli occhi: affinchè a sorte non veggano cogli occhi, ne odano con le orecchie, nè comprendano col cuore, onde si convertano, ed io li risani.
16 'But blessed are your eyes because they see, your ears because they hear!	16 Ma beati sono i vostri occhi che vedono, e le vostra orecchi, che odono.
17 In truth I tel you, many prophets and upright people longed to see what you see, and never saw it; tohear what you hear, and never heard it.	17 Imperocché vi dico in verità, che molti profeti, e molti giusti desiderarono vedere quello che voi vedete, e non lo videro, e di udire quello, che udite e non l'udirono.
18 'So pay attention to the parable of the sower.	18 Sentite pertanto voi la parola del seminatore.
19 When anyone hears the word of the kingdom without understanding, the Evil One comes and carriesoff what was sown in his heart: this is the seed sown on the edge of the path.	19 Chiunque ascolta la parola del regno (di Dio), e non vi pon mente, viene il maligno, e toglie quel, che era stato seminato nel di lui cuore: questi è quegli, che ha ricevuto la semenza lunga la strada.
20 The seed sown on patches of rock is someone who hears the word and welcomes it at once with joy.	20 Quegli, che riceve la semenza in mezzo alle pietre, è colui, che ascolta la parola, e subito la riceve con gaudio.
21 But such a person has no root deep down and does not last; should some trial come, or somepersecution on account of the word, at once he falls away.	21 Ma non ha in se radice, ed è di corta durata: e venuta la tribolazionee la persecuzione a causa della parola tosto è scandalizzato.
22 The seed sown in thorns is someone who hears the word, but the worry of the world and the lure ofriches choke the word and so it produces nothing.	22 Colui, che riceve la semente tra le spine, è quegli, che ascolta la parola: ma la sollecitudine del secolo presente e l'illusione delle ricchezze soffogano la parola, onde rendesi infruttuosa.
23 And the seed sown in rich soil is someone who hears the word and understands it; this is the onewho yields a harvest and produces now a hundredfold, now sixty, now thirty.'	23 Ma quegli, che riceve la semente in un buon terreno, è colui, che ascolta la parola, e vi pon mente, e porta frutto, e rende questo il cento, quello il sessanta, quell'altro il trenta per uno.
24 He put another parable before them, 'The kingdom of Heaven may be compared to a man whosowed good seed in his field.	24 Propose loro un'altra parabola,dicendo: Il regno de' cieli è simile ad un uomo, il quale seminò nel suo campo buon seme.
25 While everybody was asleep his enemy came, sowed darnel all among the wheat, and made off.	25 Ma nel tempo, che gli uomini dormivano, il nemico di lui andò, e seminò della zizzania in mezzo al grano,e si partì.
26 When the new wheat sprouted and ripened, then the darnel appeared as wel .	26 Cresciuta poi l'erba, e venuta a frutto, allora comparve anche la zizzania.
27 The owner's labourers went to him and said, "Sir, was it not good seed that you sowed in your field?If so, where does the darnel come from?"	27 E i servi del padre di famiglia accostatisi gli dissero: Signore, non avete voi seminato buon seme nel vostro campo? Come dunque ha della zizzania?
28 He said to them, "Some enemy has done this." And the labourers said, "Do you want us to go andweed it out?"	28 Ed egli rispose loro: Qualche nemico uomo ha fatto tal cosa. E servi gli dissero: Volete voi, che andiamo a coglierla?
29 But he said, "No, because when you weed out the darnel you might pul up the wheat with it.	29 Ed egli rispose: No, affinchè cogliendo la zizzania non isterpiate con essa anco il grano.
30 Let them both grow til the harvest; and at harvest time I shall say to the reapers: First col ect thedarnel and tie it in bundles to be burnt, then gather the wheat into my barn." '	30 Lasciate, che l'uno, e l'altra crescano sino alla ricolta: e al tempo della ricolta dirò ai mietitori: Sterpate in primo luogo la zizzania, e legatela in fastelli per bruciarla; il grano poi radunatelo nel mio granaio.
31 He put another parable before them, 'The kingdom of Heaven is like a mustard seed which a mantook and sowed in his field.	31 Propose loro un'altra parabola, dicendo: E simile il regno de' cieli a un grano di senapa, che un uomo prese, e seminò nel suo campo:
32 It is the smal est of all the seeds, but when it has grown it is the biggest of shrubs and becomes atree, so that the birds of the air can come and shelter in its branches.'	32 La quale è bensì la più minuta di tutte le semenze: ma cresciuta, che sia, è maggiore di tutti i legumi, e diventa un albero; dimodoché gli uccelli dell'aria vanno a riposare sopra i di lei rami.
33 He told them another parable, 'The kingdom of Heaven is like the yeast a woman took and mixed inwith three measures of flour til it was leavened al through.'	33 Un' altra parabola disse loro: E' simile il regno de' cieli a un pezzo di lievito, cui una donna rimescola con tre staia di farina, sintanto che tutta sia fermentata.
34 In al this Jesus spoke to the crowds in parables; indeed, he would never speak to them except inparables.	34 Tutte queste cose Gesù disse alle turbe per via di parabole: né mai parlava loro senza parabole:
35 This was to fulfil what was spoken by the prophet: I will speak to you in parables, unfold what hasbeen hidden since the foundation of the world.	35 Affinchè si adempisse quello, che era stato detto dal Profeta: Aprirò la mia bocca in parabole: manifesterò cose, che sono state nascoste dalla fondazione del mondo.
36 Then, leaving the crowds, he went to the house; and his disciples came to him and said, 'Explain tous the parable about the darnel in the field.'	36 Allora Gesù, licenziato il popolo, se ne tornò a casa: e accostatisi i suoi discepoli dissero: Spiegaci la parabola della zizzania nel campo.
37 He said in reply, 'The sower of the good seed is the Son of man.	37 Ed ei rispondendo disse loro: Quegli, che semina buon seme, si è il Figliuol dell'uomo.
38 The field is the world; the good seed is the subjects of the kingdom; the darnel, the subjects of theEvil One;	38 Il campo è il mondo: il buon seme sono i figliuoli del regno: la zizzania poi sono ì figliuoli del maligno.
39 the enemy who sowed it, the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; the reapers are the angels.	39 Il nemico, che la ha seminata, è il Diavolo: la raccolta è la fine del mondo: i mietitori son gli Angeli.
40 Well then, just as the darnel is gathered up and burnt in the fire, so it wil be at the end of time.	40 Siccome adunque si raccoglie la zizzania, e si abbrucia; così succederà alla fin del secolo.
41 The Son of man wil send his angels and they wil gather out of his kingdom al causes of fal ing andal who do evil,	41 Il figliuol dell'uomo manderà i suoi Angeli: e torranno via dal suo regno tutti gli scandali, e tutti coloro, che esercitano l'iniquità.
42 and throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and grinding of teeth.	42 E li getteranno nella fornace di fuoco. Ivi sarà pianto, e stridore di denti.
43 Then the upright will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Anyone who has ears shouldlisten!	43 Allora splenderanno i giusti come il sole nel regno del loro Padre. Chi ha orecchie da intendere, intenda.
44 'The kingdom of Heaven is like treasure hidden in a field which someone has found; he hides it again,goes off in his joy, sel s everything he owns and buys the field.	44 Di più il regno de' cieli è simile a un tesoro nascosto in un campo: il qual tesoro un uomo avendolo trovato, lo nasconde, e tutto allegro perciò va, e vende quanto ha, e compra quel campo.
45 'Again, the kingdom of Heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls;	45 E ancora simile il regno de' cieli a un mercadante, che cerca buone perle.
46 when he finds one of great value he goes and sells everything he owns and buys it.	46 Il quale trovata una perla di gran pregio, va, e vende quanto ha, e la compra.
47 'Again, the kingdom of Heaven is like a dragnet that is cast in the sea and brings in a haul of al kindsof fish.	47 E ancora simile il regno de' cieli a una rete gettata in mare, che raccoglie ogni sorta di pesci.
48 When it is full, the fishermen bring it ashore; then, sitting down, they collect the good ones in basketsand throw away those that are no use.	48 La quale, allorché fu piena, (i pescatori) tiratala fuori, e postisi a sedere sul lido, scelsero, e riposero i buoni ne' vasi, e buttarono via i cattivi.
49 This is how it will be at the end of time: the angels wil appear and separate the wicked from theupright,	49 Cosi succederà nella consumazione del secolo: verranno gli Angeli, e separeranno i cattivi di mezzo a giusti:
50 to throw them into the blazing furnace, where there wil be weeping and grinding of teeth.	50 E li getteranno nella fornace di fuoco. Ivi sarà pianto, e stridore de' denti.
51 'Have you understood al these?' They said, 'Yes.'	51 Avete voi inteso tutte queste cose? Sì, Signore, risposero essi.
52 And he said to them, 'Wel then, every scribe who becomes a disciple of the kingdom of Heaven islike a householder who brings out from his storeroom new things as well as old.'	52 Ed ei disse loro: Per questo ogni Scriba instruito pel regno de' cieli è simile a un padre di famiglia, il quale cava fuora dalla sua dispensa roba nuova, e usata.
53 When Jesus had finished these parables he left the district;	53 Terminate, che ebbe Gesù queste parabole, partì di là.
54 and, coming to his home town, he taught the people in their synagogue in such a way that they wereastonished and said, 'Where did the man get this wisdom and these miraculous powers?	54 E andatosene alla sua patria, insegnava nelle loro sinagoghe: dimodoché restavano stupefatti, e dicevano: Onde mai ha costui tal sapienza, e miracoli?
55 This is the carpenter's son, surely? Is not his mother the woman cal ed Mary, and his brothers Jamesand Joseph and Simon and Jude?	55 Non è egli figliuolo d'un artigiano? Non è ella sua madre quella, che chiamasi Maria? e suoi fratelli quelli, che chiamatisi Giacomo, Giuseppe, Simone, e Giuda?
56 His sisters, too, are they not al here with us? So where did the man get it all?'	56 E non son elleno tra di noi tutte le sue sorelle? Donde adunque son venute a costui tutte queste gran cose?
57 And they would not accept him. But Jesus said to them, 'A prophet is despised only in his owncountry and in his own house,'	57 E restavano scandalizzati di lui. Ma Gesù disse loro: Non è senza onore un profeta, fuorichè nella sua patria, e in casa propria.
58 and he did not work many miracles there because of their lack of faith.	58 E non fece quivi molti miracoli a motivo della loro incredulità.
