Matthew 13

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA RICCIOTTI
1 That same day, Jesus left the house and sat by the lakeside,	1 - In quel giorno Gesù, uscito di casa, sedette lungo la riva del mare;
2 but such large crowds gathered round him that he got into a boat and sat there. The people all stoodon the shore,	2 subito molta folla si radunò attorno a lui; tanto che, entrato in una barca, vi si pose a sedere, mentre la folla stava sulla riva.
3 and he told them many things in parables. He said, 'Listen, a sower went out to sow.	3 E raccontò loro parecchie cose in parabole.«Un seminatore, uscì a seminare.
4 As he sowed, some seeds fel on the edge of the path, and the birds came and ate them up.	4 E nel seminare, una parte del seme cadde lungo la strada e vennero gli uccelli dell'aria e lo beccarono.
5 Others fel on patches of rock where they found little soil and sprang up at once, because there was nodepth of earth;	5 Parte cadde in luoghi sassosi ove non era molta terra e subito spuntò perchè la terra non era molto fredda;
6 but as soon as the sun came up they were scorched and, not having any roots, they withered away.	6 ma, levatosi il sole, fu riarsa e, non avendo radice, si seccò.
7 Others fel among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them.	7 E un'altra cadde tra le spine e le spine crebbero e la soffocarono.
8 Others fel on rich soil and produced their crop, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.	8 Un'altra finalmente cadde nella terra soffice e diede frutto, dove il cento, dove il sessanta e dove il trenta.
9 Anyone who has ears should listen!'	9 Chi ha orecchi da intendere, intenda».
10 Then the disciples went up to him and asked, 'Why do you talk to them in parables?'	10 Allora i suoi discepoli, accostatisi, gli chiesero: «Perchè parli loro in parabole?».
11 In answer, he said, 'Because to you is granted to understand the mysteries of the kingdom ofHeaven, but to them it is not granted.	11 Egli rispose loro: «Perchè a voi è dato di conoscere i misteri del regno de' cieli; ad essi invece non è dato.
12 Anyone who has wil be given more and wil have more than enough; but anyone who has not will bedeprived even of what he has.	12 Infatti a chiunque ha, sarà dato e sarà nell'abbondanza; ma a chiunque non ha, sarà tolto anche quello che ha.
13 The reason I talk to them in parables is that they look without seeing and listen without hearing orunderstanding.	13 Per questo parlo loro in parabole; poichè vedendo non vedano, e udendo non odano e non intendano.
14 So in their case what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah is being fulfil ed: Listen and listen, but neverunderstand! Look and look, but never perceive!	14 E si adempia in essi la profezia di Isaia, che dice:" Voi udrete con le vostre orecchie e non intenderete; guarderete coi vostri occhi e non vedrete.
15 This people's heart has grown coarse, their ears dul ed, they have shut their eyes tight to avoid usingtheir eyes to see, their ears to hear, their heart to understand, changing their ways and being healed by me.	15 Perchè il cuore di questo popolo è diventato insensibile; son diventati duri d'orecchi e hanno chiuso i loro occhi affinchè non vedano con gli occhi e non ascoltino con gli orecchi e non intendano col cuore, e non si convertano, ed io non li guarisca ".
16 'But blessed are your eyes because they see, your ears because they hear!	16 Ma, in quanto a voi, beati gli occhi vostri perchè vedono, e i vostri orecchi perchè odono!
17 In truth I tel you, many prophets and upright people longed to see what you see, and never saw it; tohear what you hear, and never heard it.	17 In verità vi dico che molti profeti e giusti han desiderato di vedere le cose che voi vedete e non l'han viste; di udire ciò che voi udite e non l'hanno udito.
18 'So pay attention to the parable of the sower.	18 Voi dunque sentite un po' cosa significhi la parabola del seminatore.
19 When anyone hears the word of the kingdom without understanding, the Evil One comes and carriesoff what was sown in his heart: this is the seed sown on the edge of the path.	19 Quando uno ode la parola del regno e non vi pon mente, viene il maligno e porta via quello ch'è stato seminato nel cuore di lui; questi è l'uomo che ha ricevuto la semente caduta lungo la strada.
20 The seed sown on patches of rock is someone who hears the word and welcomes it at once with joy.	20 Il seme caduto in luoghi sassosi vuol dire colui che ode la parola e subito la riceve con intima allegrezza;
21 But such a person has no root deep down and does not last; should some trial come, or somepersecution on account of the word, at once he falls away.	21 però non ha in sè radice, essendo incostante; e quando sopraggiunge la tribolazione o la persecuzione a cagion della parola, subito si scandalizza.
22 The seed sown in thorns is someone who hears the word, but the worry of the world and the lure ofriches choke the word and so it produces nothing.	22 Il seme caduto tra le spine vuol dire colui che ode la parola, ma le sollecitudini del tempo presente e la seduzione delle ricchezze soffocano la parola, tanto ch'essa resta infruttuosa.
23 And the seed sown in rich soil is someone who hears the word and understands it; this is the onewho yields a harvest and produces now a hundredfold, now sixty, now thirty.'	23 Il seme poi seminato in buon terreno vuol dire colui che ode la parola e vi pon mente e porta frutto e rende, or il cento, or il sessanta, or il trenta».
24 He put another parable before them, 'The kingdom of Heaven may be compared to a man whosowed good seed in his field.	24 Egli propose loro un'altra parabola, dicendo: «Il regno dei cieli è simile a un uomo che seminò buon seme nel suo campo.
25 While everybody was asleep his enemy came, sowed darnel all among the wheat, and made off.	25 Ma intanto che gli uomini dormivano, venne il suo nemico e seminò della zizzania in mezzo al frumento e se ne andò.
26 When the new wheat sprouted and ripened, then the darnel appeared as wel .	26 Quando l'erba nacque e fece frutto, comparve anche la zizzania.
27 The owner's labourers went to him and said, "Sir, was it not good seed that you sowed in your field?If so, where does the darnel come from?"	27 I servi del padrone di casa vennero a raccontargli la cosa: - Signore, non hai tu seminato buon seme nel tuo campo? Com'è dunque che c'è della zizzania? -
28 He said to them, "Some enemy has done this." And the labourers said, "Do you want us to go andweed it out?"	28 Egli rispose loro: - Un uomo nemico ha fatto questo. - Ripresero i servi: - Vuoi dunque che andiamo a raccoglierla? -
29 But he said, "No, because when you weed out the darnel you might pul up the wheat with it.	29 - No, - rispose loro - affinchè raccogliendo la zizzania, non strappiate, per avventura, anche il frumento.
30 Let them both grow til the harvest; and at harvest time I shall say to the reapers: First col ect thedarnel and tie it in bundles to be burnt, then gather the wheat into my barn." '	30 Lasciateli crescere insieme, l'uno e l'altra, fino a mietitura: al tempo della raccolta dirò ai mietitori: "Estirpate prima la zizzania e legatela in fasci per bruciarla; il frumento invece ponetelo nel mio granaio" -».
31 He put another parable before them, 'The kingdom of Heaven is like a mustard seed which a mantook and sowed in his field.	31 Un'altra parabola propose loro dicendo: «Il regno dei cieli è simile a un granellino di senapa, che un uomo prende e semina nel campo;
32 It is the smal est of all the seeds, but when it has grown it is the biggest of shrubs and becomes atree, so that the birds of the air can come and shelter in its branches.'	32 esso è il più piccolo di tutti i semi, ma quand'è cresciuto è più grande di tutti gli erbaggi e si fa un albero; tanto che gli uccelli del cielo vengon a riposarsi tra i suoi rami».
33 He told them another parable, 'The kingdom of Heaven is like the yeast a woman took and mixed inwith three measures of flour til it was leavened al through.'	33 E raccontò anche quest'altra parabola: «Il regno dei cieli è simile al lievito, che una donna prende e rimescola in tre staia di farina, finchè tutta la massa lievita».
34 In al this Jesus spoke to the crowds in parables; indeed, he would never speak to them except inparables.	34 Gesù disse alla folla tutte queste cose in parabole e senza parabole non raccontava nulla,
35 This was to fulfil what was spoken by the prophet: I will speak to you in parables, unfold what hasbeen hidden since the foundation of the world.	35 perchè si adempisse quant'era stato detto dal profeta: «Aprirò la mia bocca in parabole: manifesterò cose nascoste fin dalla fondazione del mondo».
36 Then, leaving the crowds, he went to the house; and his disciples came to him and said, 'Explain tous the parable about the darnel in the field.'	36 Allora Gesù, congedate le turbe, tornò in casa, e i suoi discepoli gli s'accostarono, dicendo: «Spiegaci la parabola della zizzania del campo».
37 He said in reply, 'The sower of the good seed is the Son of man.	37 Egli rispose loro: «Colui che semina il buon seme è il Figliuol dell'uomo;
38 The field is the world; the good seed is the subjects of the kingdom; the darnel, the subjects of theEvil One;	38 il campo è il mondo; il buon seme sono i figli del Regno; la zizzania sono i figli del maligno;
39 the enemy who sowed it, the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; the reapers are the angels.	39 il nemico che l'ha seminata è il diavolo; la mietitura è la fine del tempo presente e i mietitori son gli angeli.
40 Well then, just as the darnel is gathered up and burnt in the fire, so it wil be at the end of time.	40 Come dunque si raccoglie la zizzania e la si brucia nel fuoco, così succederà alla fine del mondo.
41 The Son of man wil send his angels and they wil gather out of his kingdom al causes of fal ing andal who do evil,	41 Il figliuol dell'uomo manderà i suoi angeli a toglier dal suo regno tutti gli scandali e tutti gli operatori d'iniquità
42 and throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and grinding of teeth.	42 per gettarli nella fornace ardente, dove sarà pianto e stridor di denti.
43 Then the upright will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Anyone who has ears shouldlisten!	43 Allora i giusti risplenderanno come il sole nel regno del Padre loro. Chi ha orecchi da intendere, intenda.
44 'The kingdom of Heaven is like treasure hidden in a field which someone has found; he hides it again,goes off in his joy, sel s everything he owns and buys the field.	44 Il regno de' cieli è simile a un tesoro nascosto nel campo; l'uomo che l'ha trovato, lo nasconde di nuovo e, tutto contento va, vende quanto ha e compra quel campo.
45 'Again, the kingdom of Heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls;	45 Il regno de' cieli è ancora simile a un mercante che va in cerca di belle perle;
46 when he finds one of great value he goes and sells everything he owns and buys it.	46 e, trovata una margarita di gran pregio, va, vende quanto ha e la compra.
47 'Again, the kingdom of Heaven is like a dragnet that is cast in the sea and brings in a haul of al kindsof fish.	47 Il regno de' cieli è ancora simile a una rete calata in mare e che ha preso ogni sorta di pesci.
48 When it is full, the fishermen bring it ashore; then, sitting down, they collect the good ones in basketsand throw away those that are no use.	48 Quando è colma, i pescatori la traggono alla riva e postisi a sedere, metton da parte i buoni nei canestri, e i cattivi li buttan via.
49 This is how it will be at the end of time: the angels wil appear and separate the wicked from theupright,	49 Così succederà alla fin del mondo; verranno gli angeli a separare i cattivi di mezzo ai buoni,
50 to throw them into the blazing furnace, where there wil be weeping and grinding of teeth.	50 per gettarli nella fornace di fuoco: dove sarà pianto e stridor di denti.
51 'Have you understood al these?' They said, 'Yes.'	51 Avete inteso tutte queste cose?». «Sì», risposero essi.
52 And he said to them, 'Wel then, every scribe who becomes a disciple of the kingdom of Heaven islike a householder who brings out from his storeroom new things as well as old.'	52 Ed egli aggiunse: «Per questo ogni scriba, istruito in ciò che riguarda il regno de' cieli, è simile a un padre di famiglia, il quale cava fuori dal suo tesoro cose nuove e cose vecchie».
53 When Jesus had finished these parables he left the district;	53 Gesù, finito di raccontar queste parabole, se ne andò.
54 and, coming to his home town, he taught the people in their synagogue in such a way that they wereastonished and said, 'Where did the man get this wisdom and these miraculous powers?	54 E recatosi nella sua patria, insegnava in quella sinagoga, talchè la gente stupiva e diceva: «Donde ha costui tanta sapienza e questi miracoli?
55 This is the carpenter's son, surely? Is not his mother the woman cal ed Mary, and his brothers Jamesand Joseph and Simon and Jude?	55 Non è egli il figlio del legnaiuolo? E sua madre non si chiama Maria? E i suoi fratelli, Giacomo, Giuseppe, Simone e Giuda?
56 His sisters, too, are they not al here with us? So where did the man get it all?'	56 E le sue sorelle non son tutte fra noi? Donde sono venute a lui tutte queste cose?».
57 And they would not accept him. But Jesus said to them, 'A prophet is despised only in his owncountry and in his own house,'	57 E si scandalizzavano di lui. Ma Gesù disse loro: «Un profeta non è sprezzato che nella sua patria e nella sua casa».
58 and he did not work many miracles there because of their lack of faith.	58 E non fece colà molti miracoli a motivo della loro incredulità.
