Matthew 13

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 That same day, Jesus left the house and sat by the lakeside,	1 In quel giorno Gesù, uscito di casa, se ne stava seduto sulla riva del mare.
2 but such large crowds gathered round him that he got into a boat and sat there. The people all stoodon the shore,	2 Poiché era accorsa a lui una gran folla, salì sopra una barca e là rimase seduto, mentre tutta la folla stava sulla riva.
3 and he told them many things in parables. He said, 'Listen, a sower went out to sow.	3 Allora parlò loro a lungo in parabole. Disse: "Uscì un seminatore per seminare;
4 As he sowed, some seeds fel on the edge of the path, and the birds came and ate them up.	4 nel gettare il seme, parte di esso cadde lungo la via; vennero gli uccelli e se lo mangiarono.
5 Others fel on patches of rock where they found little soil and sprang up at once, because there was nodepth of earth;	5 Parte cadde in un suolo roccioso, dove non c'era molta terra; e così per mancanza di terreno profondo nacque subito;
6 but as soon as the sun came up they were scorched and, not having any roots, they withered away.	6 ma al sorgere del sole rimase bruciato e, non avendo radici, seccò.
7 Others fel among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them.	7 Parte cadde fra le spine; ma queste, crescendo, lo soffocarono.
8 Others fel on rich soil and produced their crop, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.	8 Infine, una parte cadde su terreno buono, tanto da dar frutto dove il cento, dove il sessanta, dove il trenta.
9 Anyone who has ears should listen!'	9 Chi ha orecchi, intenda!".
10 Then the disciples went up to him and asked, 'Why do you talk to them in parables?'	10 Gli si accostarono i discepoli e gli dissero: "Perché parli ad essi in parabole?".
11 In answer, he said, 'Because to you is granted to understand the mysteries of the kingdom ofHeaven, but to them it is not granted.	11 Egli rispose loro: "Perché, mentre a voi è dato di comprendere i misteri del regno dei cieli, a loro invece no.
12 Anyone who has wil be given more and wil have more than enough; but anyone who has not will bedeprived even of what he has.	12 Infatti a chi ha verrà dato e sarà nell'abbondanza; ma a chi non ha verrà tolto anche quello che ha.
13 The reason I talk to them in parables is that they look without seeing and listen without hearing orunderstanding.	13 Per questo parlo loro in parabole, perché vedendo non vedono; udendo non odono né comprendono.
14 So in their case what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah is being fulfil ed: Listen and listen, but neverunderstand! Look and look, but never perceive!	14 Così si avvera per loro la profezia di Isaia che dice: Ascolterete, ma non comprenderete; guarderete, ma non vedrete.
15 This people's heart has grown coarse, their ears dul ed, they have shut their eyes tight to avoid usingtheir eyes to see, their ears to hear, their heart to understand, changing their ways and being healed by me.	15 S'è indurito infatti il cuore di questo popolo: sono diventati duri di orecchi; e hanno serrato gli occhi in modo da non vedere con gli occhi, non sentire con le orecchie, non comprendere con il cuore e convertirsi, e allora li avrei guariti.
16 'But blessed are your eyes because they see, your ears because they hear!	16 Beati invece i vostri occhi che vedono, le vostre orecchie che odono.
17 In truth I tel you, many prophets and upright people longed to see what you see, and never saw it; tohear what you hear, and never heard it.	17 Poiché in verità vi dico: molti profeti e giusti desiderarono vedere ciò che voi vedete e non videro, udire ciò che voi udite e non udirono!".
18 'So pay attention to the parable of the sower.	18 "Voi dunque intendete la parabola del seminatore.
19 When anyone hears the word of the kingdom without understanding, the Evil One comes and carriesoff what was sown in his heart: this is the seed sown on the edge of the path.	19 Se uno ascolta la parola del regno e non la comprende, viene il maligno e porta via ciò che è stato seminato nel suo cuore: questo vuol dire il seme caduto lungo la via.
20 The seed sown on patches of rock is someone who hears the word and welcomes it at once with joy.	20 Quello caduto sul terreno roccioso è chi ascolta la parola e subito l'accoglie con gioia;
21 But such a person has no root deep down and does not last; should some trial come, or somepersecution on account of the word, at once he falls away.	21 ma non ha in sé radici, è incostante; al sopraggiungere di una tribolazione o di una persecuzione a causa della parola, subito soccombe.
22 The seed sown in thorns is someone who hears the word, but the worry of the world and the lure ofriches choke the word and so it produces nothing.	22 Quello caduto fra le spine è colui che ascolta la parola, ma, poiché le preoccupazioni di questo mondo e l'attaccamento alle ricchezze soffocano la parola, rimane senza frutto.
23 And the seed sown in rich soil is someone who hears the word and understands it; this is the onewho yields a harvest and produces now a hundredfold, now sixty, now thirty.'	23 Quello invece che è caduto sul terreno buono è colui che ascolta la parola e la comprende; costui porta frutto e rende dove il cento, dove il sessanta, dove il trenta".
24 He put another parable before them, 'The kingdom of Heaven may be compared to a man whosowed good seed in his field.	24 Un'altra parabola propose loro: "Il regno dei cieli è paragonato a un uomo che seminò buon seme nel suo campo.
25 While everybody was asleep his enemy came, sowed darnel all among the wheat, and made off.	25 Mentre gli uomini dormivano, venne il suo nemico, seminò fra il grano la zizzania e se ne andò.
26 When the new wheat sprouted and ripened, then the darnel appeared as wel .	26 Quando poi crebbe il frumento e portò frutto, allora apparve anche la zizzania.
27 The owner's labourers went to him and said, "Sir, was it not good seed that you sowed in your field?If so, where does the darnel come from?"	27 I servi andarono dal padrone e gli dissero: "Signore, non hai forse seminato buon seme nel tuo campo? Come mai c'è della zizzania?".
28 He said to them, "Some enemy has done this." And the labourers said, "Do you want us to go andweed it out?"	28 Egli rispose: "Il nemico ha fatto questo". I servi gli dicono: "Vuoi che andiamo ad estirparla?".
29 But he said, "No, because when you weed out the darnel you might pul up the wheat with it.	29 Ed egli: "No, perché c'è pericolo che estirpando la zizzania sradichiate insieme ad essa anche il grano.
30 Let them both grow til the harvest; and at harvest time I shall say to the reapers: First col ect thedarnel and tie it in bundles to be burnt, then gather the wheat into my barn." '	30 Lasciate che crescano entrambi fino al raccolto; al tempo del raccolto dirò ai mietitori: Radunate prima la zizzania e legatela in fasci perché sia bruciata; poi raccogliete il grano per il mio granaio".
31 He put another parable before them, 'The kingdom of Heaven is like a mustard seed which a mantook and sowed in his field.	31 Un'altra parabola propose loro dicendo: "Il regno dei cieli è simile ad un chicco di senapa che un uomo prese e seminò nel suo campo.
32 It is the smal est of all the seeds, but when it has grown it is the biggest of shrubs and becomes atree, so that the birds of the air can come and shelter in its branches.'	32 Esso è il più piccolo di tutti i semi, ma una volta cresciuto è il più grande degli ortaggi; può diventare anche un albero e così gli uccelli dell'aria possono venire a nidificare fra i suoi rami".
33 He told them another parable, 'The kingdom of Heaven is like the yeast a woman took and mixed inwith three measures of flour til it was leavened al through.'	33 Un'altra parabola disse loro: "E' simile il regno dei cieli a un po' di lievito che una donna prende e mescola in tre misure di farina, finché tutta la massa sia fermentata".
34 In al this Jesus spoke to the crowds in parables; indeed, he would never speak to them except inparables.	34 Tutte queste cose disse Gesù alle folle in parabole e parlava loro solo in parabole,
35 This was to fulfil what was spoken by the prophet: I will speak to you in parables, unfold what hasbeen hidden since the foundation of the world.	35 affinché si adempisse quanto fu annunciato dal profeta che dice: Aprirò in parabole la mia bocca; svelerò cose nascoste fin dall'origine del mondo.
36 Then, leaving the crowds, he went to the house; and his disciples came to him and said, 'Explain tous the parable about the darnel in the field.'	36 Allora, lasciata la folla, entrò in casa e i suoi discepoli gli si accostarono dicendo: "Spiegaci la parabola della zizzania del campo".
37 He said in reply, 'The sower of the good seed is the Son of man.	37 Egli rispose: "Colui che semina il buon seme è il Figlio dell'uomo;
38 The field is the world; the good seed is the subjects of the kingdom; the darnel, the subjects of theEvil One;	38 il campo è il mondo; il buon seme sono i figli del regno; la zizzania invece i figli del male;
39 the enemy who sowed it, the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; the reapers are the angels.	39 il nemico che la seminò è il diavolo; la mietitura è la fine del mondo; i mietitori infine sono gli angeli.
40 Well then, just as the darnel is gathered up and burnt in the fire, so it wil be at the end of time.	40 Come dunque si raccoglie la zizzania e la si brucia nel fuoco, così avverrà alla fine del mondo:
41 The Son of man wil send his angels and they wil gather out of his kingdom al causes of fal ing andal who do evil,	41 il Figlio dell'uomo manderà i suoi angeli a radunare dal suo regno tutti gli scandali e tutti gli operatori d'iniquità,
42 and throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and grinding of teeth.	42 perché li gettino nella fornace ardente. Là sarà pianto e stridore di denti.
43 Then the upright will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Anyone who has ears shouldlisten!	43 Allora i giusti risplenderanno come il sole nel regno del Padre loro. Chi ha orecchi, intenda!".
44 'The kingdom of Heaven is like treasure hidden in a field which someone has found; he hides it again,goes off in his joy, sel s everything he owns and buys the field.	44 "Il regno dei cieli è simile a un tesoro nascosto nel campo: un uomo lo trova e lo nasconde di nuovo; poi, pieno di gioia, va, vende tutto quello che ha e compra quel campo.
45 'Again, the kingdom of Heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls;	45 Ancora: il regno dei cieli è simile a un mercante che va in cerca di belle perle.
46 when he finds one of great value he goes and sells everything he owns and buys it.	46 Trovata una perla di gran valore, va, vende tutto quello che ha e la compra.
47 'Again, the kingdom of Heaven is like a dragnet that is cast in the sea and brings in a haul of al kindsof fish.	47 Ancora: il regno dei cieli è simile a una rete gettata in mare, la quale ha raccolto ogni genere di pesci.
48 When it is full, the fishermen bring it ashore; then, sitting down, they collect the good ones in basketsand throw away those that are no use.	48 Una volta piena, i pescatori la traggono a riva e, sedutisi, raccolgono i pesci buoni nelle sporte e buttano via quelli cattivi.
49 This is how it will be at the end of time: the angels wil appear and separate the wicked from theupright,	49 Così avverrà alla fine del mondo: verranno gli angeli e separeranno i malvagi dai giusti
50 to throw them into the blazing furnace, where there wil be weeping and grinding of teeth.	50 e li getteranno nella fornace ardente. Là sarà pianto e stridore di denti".
51 'Have you understood al these?' They said, 'Yes.'	51 "Avete capito tutto questo?". Rispondono: "Sì".
52 And he said to them, 'Wel then, every scribe who becomes a disciple of the kingdom of Heaven islike a householder who brings out from his storeroom new things as well as old.'	52 Egli disse loro: "Per questo ogni scriba istruito nel regno dei cieli è simile a un padre di famiglia che trae fuori dal suo scrigno cose nuove e antiche".
53 When Jesus had finished these parables he left the district;	53 Quando Gesù ebbe terminato queste parabole, se ne andò di là.
54 and, coming to his home town, he taught the people in their synagogue in such a way that they wereastonished and said, 'Where did the man get this wisdom and these miraculous powers?	54 Venuto nella sua patria, insegnava nella loro sinagoga, in maniera che essi rimanevano stupiti e dicevano: "Donde viene a costui questa sapienza e questi prodigi?
55 This is the carpenter's son, surely? Is not his mother the woman cal ed Mary, and his brothers Jamesand Joseph and Simon and Jude?	55 Non è forse il figlio del fabbro? Sua madre non si chiama Maria e i suoi fratelli Giacomo, Giuseppe, Simone e Giuda?
56 His sisters, too, are they not al here with us? So where did the man get it all?'	56 E le sue sorelle non sono tutte fra noi? Da dove vengono dunque a costui tutte queste cose?".
57 And they would not accept him. But Jesus said to them, 'A prophet is despised only in his owncountry and in his own house,'	57 E si scandalizzavano di lui. Ma Gesù disse loro: "Nessun profeta è senza onore, se non nella sua patria e nella sua casa".
58 and he did not work many miracles there because of their lack of faith.	58 Così non poté compiere là molti prodigi a causa della loro incredulità.
