1 Rol of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, son of David, son of Abraham:	1 The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham:
2 Abraham fathered Isaac, Isaac fathered Jacob, Jacob fathered Judah and his brothers,	2 Abraham begot Isaac. And Isaac begot Jacob. And Jacob begot Judas and his brethren.
3 Judah fathered Perez and Zerah, whose mother was Tamar, Perez fathered Hezron, Hezron fatheredRam,	3 And Judas begot Phares and Zara of Thamar. And Phares begot Esron. And Esron begot Aram.
4 Ram fathered Amminadab, Amminadab fathered Nahshon, Nahshon fathered Salmon,	4 And Aram begot Aminadab. And Aminadab begot Naasson. And Naasson begot Salmon.
5 Salmon fathered Boaz, whose mother was Rahab, Boaz fathered Obed, whose mother was Ruth, Obedfathered Jesse;	5 And Salmon begot Booz of Rahab. And Booz begot Obed of Ruth. And Obed begot Jesse.
6 and Jesse fathered King David. David fathered Solomon, whose mother had been Uriah's wife,	6 And Jesse begot David the king. And David the king begot Solomon, of her that had been the wife of Urias.
7 Solomon fathered Rehoboam, Rehoboam fathered Abijah, Abijah fathered Asa,	7 And Solomon begot Roboam. And Roboam begot Abia. And Abia begot Asa.
8 Asa fathered Jehoshaphat, Jehoshaphat fathered Joram, Joram fathered Uzziah,	8 And Asa begot Josaphat. And Josaphat begot Joram. And Joram begot Ozias.
9 Uzziah fathered Jotham, Jotham fathered Ahaz, Ahaz fathered Hezekiah,	9 And Ozias begot Joatham. And Joatham begot Achaz. And Achaz begot Ezechias.
10 Hezekiah fathered Manasseh, Manasseh fathered Amon, Amon fathered Josiah;	10 And Ezechias begot Manasses. And Manesses begot Amon. And Amon begot Josias.
11 and Josiah fathered Jechoniah and his brothers. Then the deportation to Babylon took place.	11 And Josias begot Jechonias and his brethren in the transmigration of Babylon.
12 After the deportation to Babylon: Jechoniah fathered Shealtiel, Shealtiel fathered Zerubbabel,	12 And after the transmigration of Babylon, Jechonias begot Salathiel. And Salathiel begot Zorobabel.
13 Zerubbabel fathered Abiud, Abiud fathered Eliakim, Eliakim fathered Azor,	13 And Zorobabel begot Abiud. And Abiud begot Eliacim. And Eliacim begot Azor.
14 Azor fathered Zadok, Zadok fathered Achim, Achim fathered Eliud,	14 And Azor begot Sadoc. And Sadoc begot Achim. And Achim begot Eliud.
15 Eliud fathered Eleazar, Eleazar fathered Matthan, Matthan fathered Jacob;	15 And Eliud begot Eleazar. And Eleazar begot Mathan. And Mathan begot Jacob.
16 and Jacob fathered Joseph the husband of Mary; of her was born Jesus who is called Christ.	16 And Jacob begot Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
17 The sum of generations is therefore: fourteen from Abraham to David; fourteen from David to theBabylonian deportation; and fourteen from the Babylonian deportation to Christ.	17 So all the generations, from Abraham to David, are fourteen generations. And from David to the transmigration of Babylon, are fourteen generations: and from the transmigration of Babylon to Christ are fourteen generations.
18 This is how Jesus Christ came to be born. His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph; but before theycame to live together she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit.	18 Now the generation of Christ was in this wise. When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child, of the Holy Ghost.
19 Her husband Joseph, being an upright man and wanting to spare her disgrace, decided to divorce herinformal y.	19 Whereupon Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing publicly to expose her, was minded to put her away privately.
20 He had made up his mind to do this when suddenly the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dreamand said, 'Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because she has conceivedwhat is in her by the Holy Spirit.	20 But while he thought on these things, behold the angel of the Lord appeared to him in his sleep, saying: Joseph, son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife, for that which is conceived in her, is of the Holy Ghost.
21 She wil give birth to a son and you must name him Jesus, because he is the one who is to save hispeople from their sins.'	21 And she shall bring forth a son: and thou shalt call his name JESUS. For he shall save his people from their sins.
22 Now al this took place to fulfil what the Lord had spoken through the prophet:	22 Now all this was done that it might be fulfilled which the Lord spoke by the prophet, saying:
23 Look! the virgin is with child and will give birth to a son whom they wil cal Immanuel, a name whichmeans 'God-is-with-us'.	23 Behold a virgin shall be with child, and bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
24 When Joseph woke up he did what the angel of the Lord had told him to do: he took his wife to hishome;	24 And Joseph rising up from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him, and took unto him his wife.
25 he had not had intercourse with her when she gave birth to a son; and he named him Jesus.	25 And he knew her not till she brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.
