1 Rol of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, son of David, son of Abraham:	1 The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.
2 Abraham fathered Isaac, Isaac fathered Jacob, Jacob fathered Judah and his brothers,	2 Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judas and his brethren;
3 Judah fathered Perez and Zerah, whose mother was Tamar, Perez fathered Hezron, Hezron fatheredRam,	3 And Judas begat Phares and Zara of Thamar; and Phares begat Esrom; and Esrom begat Aram;
4 Ram fathered Amminadab, Amminadab fathered Nahshon, Nahshon fathered Salmon,	4 And Aram begat Aminadab; and Aminadab begat Naasson; and Naasson begat Salmon;
5 Salmon fathered Boaz, whose mother was Rahab, Boaz fathered Obed, whose mother was Ruth, Obedfathered Jesse;	5 And Salmon begat Booz of Rachab; and Booz begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse;
6 and Jesse fathered King David. David fathered Solomon, whose mother had been Uriah's wife,	6 And Jesse begat David the king; and David the king begat Solomon of her that had been the wife of Urias;
7 Solomon fathered Rehoboam, Rehoboam fathered Abijah, Abijah fathered Asa,	7 And Solomon begat Roboam; and Roboam begat Abia; and Abia begat Asa;
8 Asa fathered Jehoshaphat, Jehoshaphat fathered Joram, Joram fathered Uzziah,	8 And Asa begat Josaphat; and Josaphat begat Joram; and Joram begat Ozias;
9 Uzziah fathered Jotham, Jotham fathered Ahaz, Ahaz fathered Hezekiah,	9 And Ozias begat Joatham; and Joatham begat Achaz; and Achaz begat Ezekias;
10 Hezekiah fathered Manasseh, Manasseh fathered Amon, Amon fathered Josiah;	10 And Ezekias begat Manasses; and Manasses begat Amon; and Amon begat Josias;
11 and Josiah fathered Jechoniah and his brothers. Then the deportation to Babylon took place.	11 And Josias begat Jechonias and his brethren, about the time they were carried away to Babylon:
12 After the deportation to Babylon: Jechoniah fathered Shealtiel, Shealtiel fathered Zerubbabel,	12 And after they were brought to Babylon, Jechonias begat Salathiel; and Salathiel begat Zorobabel;
13 Zerubbabel fathered Abiud, Abiud fathered Eliakim, Eliakim fathered Azor,	13 And Zorobabel begat Abiud; and Abiud begat Eliakim; and Eliakim begat Azor;
14 Azor fathered Zadok, Zadok fathered Achim, Achim fathered Eliud,	14 And Azor begat Sadoc; and Sadoc begat Achim; and Achim begat Eliud;
15 Eliud fathered Eleazar, Eleazar fathered Matthan, Matthan fathered Jacob;	15 And Eliud begat Eleazar; and Eleazar begat Matthan; and Matthan begat Jacob;
16 and Jacob fathered Joseph the husband of Mary; of her was born Jesus who is called Christ.	16 And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
17 The sum of generations is therefore: fourteen from Abraham to David; fourteen from David to theBabylonian deportation; and fourteen from the Babylonian deportation to Christ.	17 So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.
18 This is how Jesus Christ came to be born. His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph; but before theycame to live together she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit.	18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
19 Her husband Joseph, being an upright man and wanting to spare her disgrace, decided to divorce herinformal y.	19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.
20 He had made up his mind to do this when suddenly the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dreamand said, 'Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because she has conceivedwhat is in her by the Holy Spirit.	20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
21 She wil give birth to a son and you must name him Jesus, because he is the one who is to save hispeople from their sins.'	21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
22 Now al this took place to fulfil what the Lord had spoken through the prophet:	22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
23 Look! the virgin is with child and will give birth to a son whom they wil cal Immanuel, a name whichmeans 'God-is-with-us'.	23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
24 When Joseph woke up he did what the angel of the Lord had told him to do: he took his wife to hishome;	24 Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:
25 he had not had intercourse with her when she gave birth to a son; and he named him Jesus.	25 And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.
