18 This is how Jesus Christ came to be born. 20 He had made up his mind to do this when suddenly the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dreamand said, 'Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because she has conceivedwhat is in her by the Holy Spirit.	20 Mentre però stava considerando queste cose, ecco, gli apparve in sogno un angelo del Signore e gli disse: «Giuseppe, figlio di Davide, non temere di prendere con te Maria, tua sposa. 21 She wil give birth to a son and you must name him Jesus, because he is the one who is to save hispeople from their sins.'	21 ella darà alla luce un figlio e tu lo chiamerai Gesù: egli infatti salverà il suo popolo dai suoi peccati».
22 Now al this took place to fulfil what the Lord had spoken through the prophet:	22 Tutto questo è avvenuto perché si compisse ciò che era stato detto dal Signore per mezzo del profeta:
23 Look! the virgin is with child and will give birth to a son whom they wil cal Immanuel, a name whichmeans 'God-is-with-us'.	23 Ecco, la vergine concepirà e darà alla luce un figlio: a lui sarà dato il nome di Emmanuele, che significa Dio con noi.
24 When Joseph woke up he did what the angel of the Lord had told him to do: he took his wife to hishome;	24 Quando si destò dal sonno, Giuseppe fece come gli aveva ordinato l’angelo del Signore e prese con sé la sua sposa;
25 he had not had intercourse with her when she gave birth to a son; and he named him Jesus.	25 senza che egli la conoscesse, ella diede alla luce un figlio ed egli lo chiamò Gesù.
