Haggai 2

NEW JERUSALEM	NOVA VULGATA
1 on the twenty-first day of the seventh month, the word of Yahweh was addressed through the prophetHaggai, as follows,	1 In septimo mense, vicesima et prima mensis, factum est ver bum Domini inmanu Aggaei prophetae dicens:
2 'You are to speak to Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel governor of Judah, to Joshua son of Jehozadak thehigh priest and to the remnant of the people. Say this,	2 “ Loquere ad Zorobabel filium Salathiel ducemIudae et ad Iesua filium Iosedec sacerdotem magnum et ad reliquos populi dicens:
3 "Is there anyone left among you who saw this Temple in its former glory? And how does it look to younow? Does it not seem as though there is nothing there?	3 Quis in vobis est derelictus, qui vidit domum istam in gloria sua prima? Etquid vos videtis eam nunc? Numquid non ita est quasi non sit in oculis vestris?
4 But take courage now, Zerubbabel!-Yahweh declares. Courage, Joshua son of Jehozadak high priest!Courage, al you people of the country!-Yahweh declares. To work! I am with you -- Yahweh Sabaoth declares-	4 Sed et nunc confortare, Zorobabel, dicit Dominus, et confortare, Iesua filiIosedec sacerdos magne, et confortare, omnis popule terrae, dicit Dominusexercituum; et facite, quoniam ego vobiscum sum, dicit Dominus exercituum.
5 and my spirit is present among you. Do not be afraid!	5 Verbum quod pepigi vobiscum, cum egrederemini de terra Aegypti, et spiritus meusstat in medio vestrum; nolite timere.
6 For Yahweh Sabaoth says this: A little while now, and I shal shake the heavens and the earth, the seaand the dry land.	6 Quia haec dicit Dominus exercituum:Adhuc unum modicum est, et ego commovebo caelum et terram et mare et aridam.
7 I shal shake al the nations, and the treasures of al the nations will flow in, and I shal fil this Templewith glory, says Yahweh Sabaoth.	7 Et movebo omnes gentes, et venient thesauri cunctarum gentium, et implebo domumistam gloria, dicit Dominus exercituum.
8 Mine is the silver, mine the gold!-Yahweh Sabaoth declares.	8 Meum est argentum et meum est aurum,dicit Dominus exercituum.
9 The glory of this new Temple wil surpass that of the old, says Yahweh Sabaoth, and in this place I shalgive peace -- Yahweh Sabaoth declares." '	9 Maior erit gloria domus istius novissima plus quamprima, dicit Dominus exercituum; et in loco isto dabo pacem, dicit Dominusexercituum ”.
10 On the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, the word of Yahweh wasaddressed to the prophet Haggai as fol ows,	10 In vicesima et quarta noni mensis, in anno secundo Darii, factum est verbumDomini ad Aggaeum prophetam dicens:
11 'Yahweh Sabaoth says this, "Ask the priests to give a ruling on this:	11 “ Haec dicit Dominus exercituum:Interroga sacerdotes legem dicens:
12 If someone is carrying consecrated meat in the fold of his gown and al ows the fold to touch bread,broth, wine, oil or food of any kind, wil that become holy?" ' The priests replied, 'No.'	12 Si tulerit homo carnem sanctificatam inora vestimenti sui et tetigerit de summitate eius panem aut pulmentum aut vinumaut oleum aut omnem cibum, numquid sanctificabitur? ”. Respondentes autemsacerdotes dixerunt: “ Non ”.
13 Haggai then said, 'If anyone rendered unclean by contact with a corpse touches any of these things,wil that become unclean?' The priests replied, 'It wil become unclean.'	13 Et dixit Aggaeus: “ Si tetigerit pollutuscadavere omnia haec, numquid contaminabuntur? ”. Et responderunt sacerdotes etdixerunt: “ Contaminabuntur ”.
14 Haggai then spoke out. 'It is the same with this people,' he said, 'the same with this nation, in my view-- Yahweh declares -- the same with everything they turn their hands to; and whatever they offer here is unclean.	14 Et respondit Aggaeus et dixit: “ Sicpopulus iste et sic gens ista ante faciem meam, dicit Dominus, et sic omne opusmanuum eorum et omnia, quae offerunt ibi, contaminata sunt.
15 'So now think carefully, today and henceforth: before one stone had been laid on another in thesanctuary of Yahweh,	15 Et nunc ponite corda vestra a die hac et supra: Antequam poneretur lapissuper lapidem in templo Domini,
16 what state were you in? You would come to a twenty-measure heap and find only ten; you wouldcome to a vat to draw fifty measures and find only twenty.	16 quid fuistis? Cum accederetis ad acervumviginti modiorum, erant decem; cum intraretis ad torcular, ut hauriretisquinquaginta lagenas, erant viginti.
17 Everything you turned your hands to, I struck with wind-blast, mildew and hail, and stil you would notreturn to me -- Yahweh declares.	17 Percussi vos ariditate et rubigine etgrandine omnia opera manuum vestrarum, et non fuit in vobis qui reverteretur adme, dicit Dominus.
18 So think careful y, today and henceforth (from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, from the daythe foundation of the sanctuary of Yahweh was laid, think careful y)	18 Ponite corda vestra ex die ista et in futurum, a dievicesima et quarta noni mensis, a die, qua fundamenta iacta sunt templi Domini,ponite super cor vestrum.
19 if seed-corn is stil short in the barn, and if vine and fig tree, pomegranate and olive tree still bear nofruit. 'From today onwards I intend to bless you.'	19 Numquid adhuc semen in horreo est, et adhuc vineaet ficus et malogranatum et lignum olivae non portavit fructum? Ex die hacbenedicam ”.
20 On the twenty-fourth day of the month the word of Yahweh was addressed a second time to Haggai,as fol ows,	20 Et factum est verbum Domini secundo ad Aggaeum in vicesima et quarta mensisdicens:
21 'Speak to Zerubbabel governor of Judah. Say this, "I am going to shake the heavens and the earth.	21 “ Loquere ad Zorobabel ducem Iudae dicens: Ego movebo caelumpariter et terram
22 I shal overturn the thrones of kingdoms and destroy the power of the kings of the nations. I shalloverthrow the chariots and their crews; horses and their riders wil fall, every one to the sword of his comrade.	22 et subvertam solium regnorum et conteram fortitudinemregnorum gentium et subvertam quadrigam et ascensores eius; et descendent equiet ascensores eorum, unusquisque percussus gladio fratris sui.
23 When that day comes -- Yahweh Sabaoth declares -- I shal take you, Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel myservant -- Yahweh declares -- and make you like a signet ring. For I have chosen you -- Yahweh Sabaothdeclares." '	23 In die illo,dicit Dominus exercituum, assumam te, Zorobabel fili Salathiel, serve meus,dicit Dominus, et ponam te quasi signaculum, quia te elegi ”, dicit Dominusexercituum.
