1 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:	1 Il Signore parlò a Mosè, dicendo:
2 'Make yourself two trumpets; make them of beaten silver, so that you can use them for summoningthe community, and for sounding the order to break camp.	2 « Fatti due trombe d'argento battuto, per convocare la moltitudine quando si deve muovere il campo.
3 Whenever they are sounded, the whole community must gather round you, at the entrance to theTent of Meeting.	3 E quando sonerai le trombe, tutta la moltitudine si radunerà presso di te alla porta del Tabernacolo dell'alleanza.
4 But if only one trumpet is sounded, then only the leaders, the heads of Israel's thousands, mustgather round you.	4 Se sonerai una volta, verranno a te i principi e i capi del popolo d'Israele;
5 'When the trumpet blast is accompanied by a battle cry, the encampments pitched to the east wil setout.	5 se il suono sarà lungo e staccato, moveranno il campo i primi, quelli a levante.
6 At the second blast accompanied by a battle cry, the encampments pitched to the south wil set out.For breaking camp, the trumpet blast wil be accompanied by a battle cry,	6 Ma alla seconda e simile sonata della tromba leveran le tende quelli che stanno a mezzogiorno, e nello stesso modo faranno gli altri quando le trombe squillano per la partenza.
7 but for assembling the community the trumpets will be sounded without battle cry.	7 Quando si deve radunare il popolo, il suono delle trombe sarà semplice e non a squilli.
8 The Aaronite priests wil sound the trumpets; this is a perpetual decree for you and your descendants.	8 E le trombe le soneranno i figli d'Aronne, sacerdoti: questa sarà una legge perpetua per le vostre generazioni.
9 'When in your country you go to war against an enemy who is oppressing you, you will soundtrumpets with a battle cry, and Yahweh your God wil remember you, and you wil be delivered from yourenemies.	9 Quando uscirete dal vostro paese per far guerra ai nemici che combattono contro di voi, sonerete le trombe a lunghi e forti squilli, e il Signore Dio vostro si ricorderà di voi e vi libererà dalle mani dei vostri nemici.
10 At your festivals, solemnities and new-moon feasts, you will sound the trumpets over your burntofferings and communion sacrifices, so that they recal you to the remembrance of your God. I am Yahweh yourGod.'	10 Cosi quando avrete un banchetto, e nei dì festivi, e nelle calende sonerete le trombe quando offrite gli olocausti e le vittime pacifiche, affinchè vi ricordino al vostro Dio. Io sono il Signore Dio vostro ».
11 In the second year, in the second month, on the twentieth day of the month, the cloud rose fromwhere the Dwel ing of the Testimony was,	11 Nell'anno secondo, nel secondo mese, ai venti del mese, la nuvola si alzò di sopra il Tabernacolo dell'alleanza,
12 and the Israelites set out, in marching order, from the desert of Sinai. The cloud came to rest in thedesert of Paran.	12 e i figli d'Israele divisi nelle loro schiere, partirono dal deserto del Sinai, e la nuvola si fermò nel deserto di Faran.
13 These were the men who set out in the vanguard, at Yahweh's order through Moses:	13 Mossero per i primi il campo, secondo l'ordine dato dal Signore per mezzo di Mosè,
14 first went the standard of the camp of the Judahites and their units, with Nahshon son ofAmminadab commanding that contingent;	14 i figli di Giuda divisi nelle loro schiere. Di essi era principe Nahasson figlio di Aminadab.
15 Nethanel son of Zuar commanding the tribal contingent of the Issacharites;	15 Nella tribù dei figli d'Issacar era principe Natanael figlio di Suar;
16 and Eliab son of Helon commanding the tribal contingent of the Zebulunites.	16 nella tribù di Zàbulon era principe Eliab figlio di Elon.

20 and Eliasaph son of Reuel commanding the tribal contingent of the Gadites.	20 nella tribù di Gad era principe Eliasaf figlio di Duel.

22 Then came the standard of the camp of the Ephraimites and their units, with Elishama son ofAmmihud commanding that contingent;	22 Mossero poi il campo i figli d'Efraim, secondo le loro schiere; dell'esercito di essi era principe Elisama figlio di Ammiud.
23 Gamaliel son of Pedahzur commanding the tribal contingent of the Manassehites;	23 Nella tribù dei figli di Manasse era principe Gamaliele figlio di Fadassur;
24 and Abidan son of Gideoni commanding the tribal contingent of the Benjaminites.	24 nela tribù di Beniamino il capo era Abidan figlio di Gedeone.
25 Last of al , the rearguard of al the camps, came the standard of the camp of the Danites and theirunits, with Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai commanding that contingent;	25 Gli ultimi a muovere il campo furono i figli di Dan, secondo le loro schiere; nell'esercito di essi era principe Ahiezer figlio di Ammisaddai.
26 Pagiel son of Ochran commanding the tribal contingent of the Asherites;	26 Nella tribù di Asor il principe era Fegiel figlio di Ocran;
27 and Ahira son of Enan commanding the tribal contingent of the Naphtalites.	27 nella tribù di Neftali principe era Ahira figlio di Enan.
28 Such was the order of march for the Israelites, unit by unit. So they set out.	28 Ecco i capi e le marce dei figli d'Israele secondo le loro schiere quando partivano.
29 Moses said to Hobab son of Reuel the Midianite, his father-in-law, 'We are setting out for the countryof which Yahweh has said: I shall give it to you. Come with us, and we wil treat you wel , for Yahweh haspromised good things for Israel.'	29 Or Mosè disse a Obab figlio di Raguel madianita, suo parente: « Noi c'incamminiamo verso il luogo che il Signore ci darà: vieni con noi e ti faremo del bene, perchè il Signore ha promesso del bene a Israele ».
30 'I wil not come with you,' he replied, 'but shal go to my own country and kin.'	30 Ma Obab gli rispose: «Non posso venire: vo' tornare nel mio paese dove son nato ».
31 'Do not leave us,' Moses said, 'for you know where we can camp in the desert, and so you will beour eyes.	31 E Mosè: « Via, non ci lasciare! Tu conosci bene i luoghi dove dovremo accamparci nel deserto, e sarai nostra guida,
32 If you come with us, we shal share with you whatever blessings Yahweh gives us.'	32 Se vieni con noi, ti daremo tutto ciò che vi sarà di meglio tra le ricchezze che il Signore sta per darci ».
33 They set out from Yahweh's mountain and travel ed for three days, while the ark of the covenant ofYahweh preceded them on the three-day journey, searching out a place for them to halt.	33 Così partirono dal monte del Signore, e fecero tre giornate di cammino; e l'arca dell'alleanza del Signore li precedeva, segnando nei tre giorni il luogo degli accampamenti.
34 In the daytime, Yahweh's cloud was over them, once they had broken camp.	34 E la nuvola del Signore stava sopra di loro di giorno, mentre camminavano.
35 Whenever the ark set out, Moses would say: Rise, Yahweh, may your enemies be scattered andthose who hate you flee at your approach!	35 Quando l'arca veniva alzata, Mosè diceva: « Sorgi, o Signore, e sian dispersi i tuoi nemici, e fuggan dal tuo cospetto quelli che ti odiano ».
36 And when it halted, he would say: Come back, Yahweh, to the countless thousands of Israel!	36 Quando essa veniva posata, diceva: « Torna, o Signore, alle miriadi dell'esercito d'Israele ».
