Jonah 2

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 Now Yahweh ordained that a great fish should swal ow Jonah; and Jonah remained in the bel y of thefish for three days and three nights.	1 Dispuso Yahveh un gran pez que se tragase a Jonás, y Jonás estuvo en el vientre del pez tres días y tres noches.
2 From the bel y of the fish, Jonah prayed to Yahweh, his God; he said:	2 Jonás oró a Yahveh su Dios desde el vientre del pez.
3 Out of my distress I cried to Yahweh and he answered me, from the bel y of Sheol I cried out; you heardmy voice!	3 Dijo: Desde mi angustia clamé a Yahveh y él me respondió; desde el seno del seol grité, y tú oíste mi voz.
4 For you threw me into the deep, into the heart of the seas, and the floods closed round me. Al yourwaves and bil ows passed over me;	4 Me habías arrojado en lo más hondo, en el corazón del mar, una corriente me cercaba: todas tus olas y tus crestas pasaban sobre mí.
5 then I thought, 'I am banished from your sight; how shal I ever see your holy Temple again?'	5 Yo dije: ¡Arrojado estoy de delante de tus ojos! ¿Cómo volveré a contemplar tu santo Templo?
6 The waters round me rose to my neck, the deep was closing round me, seaweed twining round myhead.	6 Me envolvían las aguas hasta el alma, me cercaba el abismo, un alga se enredaba a mi cabeza.
7 To the roots of the mountains, I sank into the underworld, and its bars closed round me for ever. But youraised my life from the Pit, Yahweh my God!	7 A las raíces de los montes descendí, a un país que echó sus cerrojos tras de mí para siempre, mas de la fosa tú sacaste mi vida, Yahveh, Dios mío.
8 When my soul was growing ever weaker, Yahweh, I remembered you, and my prayer reached you inyour holy Temple.	8 Cuando mi alma en mí desfallecía me acordé de Yahveh, y mi oración llegó hasta ti, hasta tu santo Templo.
9 Some abandon their faithful love by worshipping false gods,	9 Los que veneran vanos ídolos su propia gracia abandonan.
10 but I shal sacrifice to you with songs of praise. The vow I have made I shall fulfil! Salvation comesfrom Yahweh!	10 Mas yo con voz de acción de gracias te ofreceré sacrificios, los votos que hice cumpliré. ¡De Yahveh la salvación!
11 Yahweh spoke to the fish, which then vomited Jonah onto the dry land.	11 Y Yahveh dio orden al pez, que vomitó a Jonás en tierra.
