Jeremiah 36

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA TINTORI
1 In the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah, this word came to Jeremiah from Yahweh,	1 L'anno quarto di Ioachim, figlio di Giosia, re di Giuda, dal Signore fu indirizzata a Geremia questa parola, in questi termini:
2 'Take a scroll and on it write al the words I have spoken to you about Israel, Judah and al the nations,from the day I first spoke to you, in the time of Josiah, until today.	2 « Prendi un volume e scrivici tutte le parole che ti ho dette contro Israele, contro Giuda e contro tutte le nazioni, dal giorno in cui ti parlai, al tempo di Giosia, fino al presente,
3 Perhaps when the House of Judah hears about al the disaster I intend to inflict on them, they will turn,each one of them, from their evil behaviour, so that I can forgive their sinful guilt.'	3 (per vedere) se la casa di Giuda, sentendo tutti i mali che intendo di farle, si converta, ciascuno dalla sua pessima vita, ed io possa perdonare la loro iniquità, il loro peccato ».
4 Jeremiah then summoned Baruch son of Neriah, who at his dictation wrote down on the scrol all thewords Yahweh had spoken to him.	4 Allora, Geremia chiamò Baruc, figlio di Neria, e Baruc scrisse in un volume, sotto la dettatura di Geremia, tutte le parole dette a lui dal Signore.
5 Jeremiah then gave Baruch this order, 'As I am prevented from entering the Temple of Yahweh,	5 E Geremia, dando gli ordini a Baruc, disse: « Io sono rinchiuso, non posso andare alla casa del Signore:
6 you yourself must go and, from the scrol you wrote at my dictation, read all Yahweh's words to thepeople in his Temple on the day of the fast, and in this way you can read them in the hearing also of all theJudaeans who come in from their towns.	6 vacci tu, e leggi dal volume, nel quale hai scritto sotto mia dettatura, le parole del Signore, mentre il popolo sta a sentire nella casa del Signore, nel giorno del digiuno, di più loro leggerai da farti sentire a tutto Giuda che viene dalle sue città.
7 Perhaps their prayers wil move Yahweh and they wil turn one and al from their evil behaviour, forgreat is the furious anger with which Yahweh has threatened this people.'	7 Per veder se cadono in preghiera davanti al Signore e se ciascun si converte dalla sua pessima vita, perchè grande è il furore e l'indignazione che il Signore ha minacciata contro questo popolo ».
8 Baruch son of Neriah duly carried out the order that the prophet Jeremiah had given him, to read alYahweh's words from the book in his Temple.	8 E Baruc, figlio di Neria, facendo tutto ciò che gli aveva comandato il profeta Geremia, lesse dal volume le parole del Signore nella casa del Signore.
9 Now, in the fifth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah, in the ninth month, al the people ofJerusalem and all the people who could get to Jerusalem from the towns of Judah were summoned to a fastbefore Yahweh.	9 Or avvenne che ranno quinto di Ioachim, figlio di Giosia, re di Giuda, nel nono mese, fu pubblicato un digiuno davanti al Signore a tutto il popolo di Gerusalemme e a tutta la moltitudine accorsa a Gerusalemme dalle città di Giuda;
10 Baruch then read Jeremiah's words from the book; this happened in the room of Gemariah son of thescribe Shaphan, in the upper court at the entry of the New Gate of the Temple of Yahweh, where all the peoplecould hear.	10 e allora Baruc lesse dal volume le parole di Geremia, nella casa del Signore, nella camera del tesoro di Gamaria, figlio del segretario Safan, nel vestibolo superiore, all'ingresso della porta nuova della casa del Signore, mentre tutto il popolo stava a sentire.
11 Micaiah son of Gemariah, son of Shaphan, having heard all Yahweh's words read from the book,	11 Avendo Michea, figlio di Gamaria, figlio di Safan, sentite tutte le parole del Signore (lette) nel volume,
12 went down to the royal palace, to the scribe's room. Al the chief men were in session: the scribeElishama, Delaiah son of Shemaiah, Elnathan son of Achbor, Gemariah son of Shaphan, Zedekiah son ofHananiah and al the other chief men;	12 discese alla casa del re, nella tesoreria del segretario, dove stavano seduti tutti i principi: Elisama segretario, Dalaia figlio di Semeia, Elnatan figlio di Acobor, Gamaria figlio di Safan, Sedecia figlio di Hanania, e tutti i principi.
13 and to them Micaiah reported al the words he heard as Baruch was reading the book aloud to thepeople.	13 Michea riferì loro tutto quello che aveva sentito leggere nel volume da Baruc, mentre il popolo ascoltava.
14 The chief men then by common consent sent Jehudi son of Netaniah to Baruch, with Shelemiah sonof Cushi, to say, 'Come, and bring the scrol with you which you have been reading to the people.'	14 Allora tutti i principi mandaron Giudi, fi­glio di Natania, figlio di Selemia, figlio di Cusi, a dire a Baruc: « Prendi in mano il volume che hai letto al popolo e vieni ». Baruc figlio di Neria prese in mano il volume e andò da loro,
15 Bringing the scrol with him, Baruch son of Neriah appeared before them. 'Sit down,' they said, 'andread it out.' So Baruch read it to them.	15 Gli dissero: « Siedi e leggi queste cose, chè le sentiamo ». E Baruc lesse ad essi che stavano ad ascoltare.
16 Having heard al the words they turned to one another in alarm and said to Baruch, 'We must certainlyinform the king of this.'	16 Sentite tutte quelle cose, si guardarono l'un l'altro stupefatti, e dissero a Baruc: « Bisogna riferire al re tutte queste cose».
17 They then questioned Baruch, 'Tel us', they said, 'how you came to write al these words.'	17 E lo interrogarono dicendo: « Raccontaci come tu hai scritte tutte queste cose sotto sua dettatura ».
18 'Jeremiah dictated them al to me,' Baruch replied, 'and I wrote them down in ink in this book.'	18 Baruc rispose loro: « Egli mi dettava colla sua bocca tutte queste cose, come se leggesse, ed io le scrivevo nel volume coll'inchiostro ».
19 The chief men said to Baruch, 'You and Jeremiah had better go into hiding; and do not tel anyonewhere you are.'	19 Allora i principi dissero a Baruc: « Va a nasconderti, tu e Geremia, in modo che nessuno sappia dove siate ».
20 Whereupon they went off to the king in the palace court, depositing the scrol in the room of the scribeElishama. They then informed the king of the whole affair.	20 Essi poi entrarono dal re nell'atrio, però il volume lo lasciarono nella camera del tesoro del segretario Elisama, e riferirono al re, che stette a sentire tutte quelle cose.
21 The king sent Jehudi for the scrol , and he brought it from the room of the scribe Elishama and read itto the king and all the chief men standing round the king.	21 Poi il re mandò Giudi a prendere il volume, il quale, presolo dalla camera del tesoro del segretario Elisama, lo lesse al re e a tutti i principi che stavano intorno al re.
22 The king was sitting in his winter apartments -- it was the ninth month -- with a fire burning in a brazierin front of him.	22 Allora il re stava seduto nell'appartamento d'inverno, e, essendo il nono mese, aveva davanti un caldano pieno di carboni ardenti.
23 Each time Jehudi had read three or four columns, the king cut them off with a scribe's knife and threwthem into the fire in the brazier until the whole of the scrol had been burnt in the brazier fire.	23 Appena Giudi ebbe lette tre o quattro pagine, (il re) tagliò il volume col tagliacarta del segretario, e lo gettò sul fuoco che era nel caldano, in modo che tutto il volume fu bruciato dal fuoco che era nel caldano.
24 But in spite of hearing al these words, neither the king nor any of his courtiers took alarm or tore theirclothes;	24 Il re e tutti i suoi servi che udirono tutte queste cose, non ne ebbero spavento e non stracciarono le loro vesti;
25 and although Elnathan and Delaiah and Gemariah had urged the king not to burn the scrol he wouldnot listen to them,	25 però Elnatan, Dalaia e Gamaria si opposero al re, perchè non bruciasse il volume, ma non diede loro retta.
26 but ordered the king's son Jerahmeel and Seraiah son of Azriel and Shelemiah son of Abdeel toarrest the scribe Baruch and the prophet Jeremiah. But Yahweh had hidden them.	26 Poi il re ordinò a Ieremiel figlio di Amelec, a Saraia figlio di Ezriel e a Semelia figlio di Abdeel, di prendere il segretario Baruc e il profeta Geremia; ma il Signore li nascose.
27 Then the word of Yahweh came to Jeremiah, after the king had burnt the scrol containing the wordsBaruch had written at Jeremiah's dictation,	27 E dopo che il re ebbe bruciato il volume con le parole scritte da Baruc sotto dettatura di Geremia, il Signore parlò al profeta Geremia, dicendo:
28 'Take another scroll and write down all the words that were written on the first scrol burnt byJehoiakim king of Judah.	28 « Riprendi un altro volume e scrivici tutte le cose che eran già nel primo volume bruciato da Ioachim re di Giuda.
29 And as regards Jehoiakim king of Judah, you are to say, "Yahweh says this: You have burnt thatscrol , saying: Why have you written down: The king of Babylon will certainly come and lay this country wasteand leave it without human or animal?	29 E a Ioachim, re di Giuda, tu dirai: Ecco quanto dice il Signore: Siccome tu hai bruciato quel volume, dicendo: Perchè v'hai scritto e predetto: — Presto verrà il re di Babilonia, e devasterà questa terra e farà da essa sparire uomini e giumenti? »
30 So, this is what Yahweh says about Jehoiakim king of Judah: He wil have no one to occupy thethrone of David, and his corpse wil be tossed out to the heat of the day and the frost of the night.	30 Per questo cosi parla il Signore contro Ioachim re di Giuda: Non avrà della sua stirpe chi segga sul trono di David, e il suo cadavere sarà gettato al calore del giorno e al gelo della notte.
31 I shal punish him, his offspring and his courtiers for their guilt; on them, on the citizens of Jerusalemand on the people of Judah I shal bring the total disaster which I had decreed for them but to which they havepaid no attention."	31 E castigherò lui, la sua stirpe e i suoi servi per le loro iniquità, e farò venire sopra di essi, sopra gli abitanti di Gerusalemme e sopra gli uomini di Giuda tutto il male che ho loro annunziato, e non ini sono stati a sentire ». 32 Or Geremia prese un altro volume e lo diede al segretario, Baruc figlio di Neria, il quale, sotto dettatura di Geremia, vi scrisse tutte le cose del volume bruciato da Ioachim re di Giuda, e vi furono aggiunte molte altre cose che non v'erano avanti.
32 Jeremiah then took another scrol and gave it to the scribe Baruch son of Neriah, who in it atJeremiah's dictation wrote all the words of the book that Jehoiakim king of Judah had burnt, with many similarwords in addition.
