Jeremiah 36

NEW JERUSALEM	LXX
1 In the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah, this word came to Jeremiah from Yahweh,	1 και ουτοι οι λογοι της βιβλου ους απεστειλεν ιερεμιας εξ ιερουσαλημ προς τους πρεσβυτερους της αποικιας και προς τους ιερεις και προς τους ψευδοπροφητας επιστολην εις βαβυλωνα τη αποικια και προς απαντα τον λαον
2 'Take a scroll and on it write al the words I have spoken to you about Israel, Judah and al the nations,from the day I first spoke to you, in the time of Josiah, until today.	2 υστερον εξελθοντος ιεχονιου του βασιλεως και της βασιλισσης και των ευνουχων και παντος ελευθερου και δεσμωτου και τεχνιτου εξ ιερουσαλημ
3 Perhaps when the House of Judah hears about al the disaster I intend to inflict on them, they will turn,each one of them, from their evil behaviour, so that I can forgive their sinful guilt.'	3 εν χειρι ελεασα υιου σαφαν και γαμαριου υιου χελκιου ον απεστειλεν σεδεκιας βασιλευς ιουδα προς βασιλεα βαβυλωνος εις βαβυλωνα λεγων
4 Jeremiah then summoned Baruch son of Neriah, who at his dictation wrote down on the scrol all thewords Yahweh had spoken to him.	4 ουτως ειπεν κυριος ο θεος ισραηλ επι την αποικιαν ην απωκισα απο ιερουσαλημ
5 Jeremiah then gave Baruch this order, 'As I am prevented from entering the Temple of Yahweh,	5 οικοδομησατε οικους και κατοικησατε και φυτευσατε παραδεισους και φαγετε τους καρπους αυτων
6 you yourself must go and, from the scrol you wrote at my dictation, read all Yahweh's words to thepeople in his Temple on the day of the fast, and in this way you can read them in the hearing also of all theJudaeans who come in from their towns.	6 και λαβετε γυναικας και τεκνοποιησατε υιους και θυγατερας και λαβετε τοις υιοις υμων γυναικας και τας θυγατερας υμων ανδρασιν δοτε και πληθυνεσθε και μη σμικρυνθητε
7 Perhaps their prayers wil move Yahweh and they wil turn one and al from their evil behaviour, forgreat is the furious anger with which Yahweh has threatened this people.'	7 και ζητησατε εις ειρηνην της γης εις ην απωκισα υμας εκει και προσευξασθε περι αυτων προς κυριον οτι εν ειρηνη αυτης εσται ειρηνη υμιν
8 Baruch son of Neriah duly carried out the order that the prophet Jeremiah had given him, to read alYahweh's words from the book in his Temple.	8 οτι ουτως ειπεν κυριος μη αναπειθετωσαν υμας οι ψευδοπροφηται οι εν υμιν και μη αναπειθετωσαν υμας οι μαντεις υμων και μη ακουετε εις τα ενυπνια υμων α υμεις ενυπνιαζεσθε
9 Now, in the fifth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah, in the ninth month, al the people ofJerusalem and all the people who could get to Jerusalem from the towns of Judah were summoned to a fastbefore Yahweh.	9 οτι αδικα αυτοι προφητευουσιν υμιν επι τω ονοματι μου και ουκ απεστειλα αυτους
10 Baruch then read Jeremiah's words from the book; this happened in the room of Gemariah son of thescribe Shaphan, in the upper court at the entry of the New Gate of the Temple of Yahweh, where all the peoplecould hear.	10 οτι ουτως ειπεν κυριος οταν μελλη πληρουσθαι βαβυλωνι εβδομηκοντα ετη επισκεψομαι υμας και επιστησω τους λογους μου εφ' υμας του τον λαον υμων αποστρεψαι εις τον τοπον τουτον
11 Micaiah son of Gemariah, son of Shaphan, having heard all Yahweh's words read from the book,	11 και λογιουμαι εφ' υμας λογισμον ειρηνης και ου κακα του δουναι υμιν ταυτα
12 went down to the royal palace, to the scribe's room. Al the chief men were in session: the scribeElishama, Delaiah son of Shemaiah, Elnathan son of Achbor, Gemariah son of Shaphan, Zedekiah son ofHananiah and al the other chief men;	12 και προσευξασθε προς με και εισακουσομαι υμων
13 and to them Micaiah reported al the words he heard as Baruch was reading the book aloud to thepeople.	13 και εκζητησατε με και ευρησετε με οτι ζητησετε με εν ολη καρδια υμων
14 The chief men then by common consent sent Jehudi son of Netaniah to Baruch, with Shelemiah sonof Cushi, to say, 'Come, and bring the scrol with you which you have been reading to the people.'	14 και επιφανουμαι υμιν
15 Bringing the scrol with him, Baruch son of Neriah appeared before them. 'Sit down,' they said, 'andread it out.' So Baruch read it to them.	15 οτι ειπατε κατεστησεν ημιν κυριος προφητας εν βαβυλωνι
16 Having heard al the words they turned to one another in alarm and said to Baruch, 'We must certainlyinform the king of this.'	16 -
17 They then questioned Baruch, 'Tel us', they said, 'how you came to write al these words.'	17 -
18 'Jeremiah dictated them al to me,' Baruch replied, 'and I wrote them down in ink in this book.'	18 -
19 The chief men said to Baruch, 'You and Jeremiah had better go into hiding; and do not tel anyonewhere you are.'	19 -
20 Whereupon they went off to the king in the palace court, depositing the scrol in the room of the scribeElishama. They then informed the king of the whole affair.	20 -
21 The king sent Jehudi for the scrol , and he brought it from the room of the scribe Elishama and read itto the king and all the chief men standing round the king.	21 ουτως ειπεν κυριος επι αχιαβ και επι σεδεκιαν ιδου εγω διδωμι αυτους εις χειρας βασιλεως βαβυλωνος και παταξει αυτους κατ' οφθαλμους υμων
22 The king was sitting in his winter apartments -- it was the ninth month -- with a fire burning in a brazierin front of him.	22 και λημψονται απ' αυτων καταραν εν παση τη αποικια ιουδα εν βαβυλωνι λεγοντες ποιησαι σε κυριος ως σεδεκιαν εποιησεν και ως αχιαβ ους απετηγανισεν βασιλευς βαβυλωνος εν πυρι
23 Each time Jehudi had read three or four columns, the king cut them off with a scribe's knife and threwthem into the fire in the brazier until the whole of the scrol had been burnt in the brazier fire.	23 δι' ην εποιησαν ανομιαν εν ισραηλ και εμοιχωντο τας γυναικας των πολιτων αυτων και λογον εχρηματισαν εν τω ονοματι μου ον ου συνεταξα αυτοις και εγω μαρτυς φησιν κυριος
24 But in spite of hearing al these words, neither the king nor any of his courtiers took alarm or tore theirclothes;	24 και προς σαμαιαν τον νελαμιτην ερεις
25 and although Elnathan and Delaiah and Gemariah had urged the king not to burn the scrol he wouldnot listen to them,	25 ουκ απεστειλα σε τω ονοματι μου και προς σοφονιαν υιον μαασαιου τον ιερεα ειπε
26 but ordered the king's son Jerahmeel and Seraiah son of Azriel and Shelemiah son of Abdeel toarrest the scribe Baruch and the prophet Jeremiah. But Yahweh had hidden them.	26 κυριος εδωκεν σε εις ιερεα αντι ιωδαε του ιερεως γενεσθαι επιστατην εν τω οικω κυριου παντι ανθρωπω προφητευοντι και παντι ανθρωπω μαινομενω και δωσεις αυτον εις το αποκλεισμα και εις τον καταρρακτην
27 Then the word of Yahweh came to Jeremiah, after the king had burnt the scrol containing the wordsBaruch had written at Jeremiah's dictation,	27 και νυν δια τι συνελοιδορησατε ιερεμιαν τον εξ αναθωθ τον προφητευσαντα υμιν
28 'Take another scroll and write down all the words that were written on the first scrol burnt byJehoiakim king of Judah.	28 ου δια τουτο απεστειλεν προς υμας εις βαβυλωνα λεγων μακραν εστιν οικοδομησατε οικιας και κατοικησατε και φυτευσατε κηπους και φαγεσθε τον καρπον αυτων
29 And as regards Jehoiakim king of Judah, you are to say, "Yahweh says this: You have burnt thatscrol , saying: Why have you written down: The king of Babylon will certainly come and lay this country wasteand leave it without human or animal?	29 και ανεγνω σοφονιας το βιβλιον εις τα ωτα ιερεμιου
30 So, this is what Yahweh says about Jehoiakim king of Judah: He wil have no one to occupy thethrone of David, and his corpse wil be tossed out to the heat of the day and the frost of the night.	30 και εγενετο λογος κυριου προς ιερεμιαν λεγων
31 I shal punish him, his offspring and his courtiers for their guilt; on them, on the citizens of Jerusalemand on the people of Judah I shal bring the total disaster which I had decreed for them but to which they havepaid no attention."	31 αποστειλον προς την αποικιαν λεγων ουτως ειπεν κυριος επι σαμαιαν τον νελαμιτην επειδη επροφητευσεν υμιν σαμαιας και εγω ουκ απεστειλα αυτον και πεποιθεναι εποιησεν υμας επ' αδικοις
32 Jeremiah then took another scrol and gave it to the scribe Baruch son of Neriah, who in it atJeremiah's dictation wrote all the words of the book that Jehoiakim king of Judah had burnt, with many similarwords in addition.	32 δια τουτο ουτως ειπεν κυριος ιδου εγω επισκεψομαι επι σαμαιαν και επι το γενος αυτου και ουκ εσται αυτων ανθρωπος εν μεσω υμων του ιδειν τα αγαθα α εγω ποιησω υμιν ουκ οψονται
