Jeremiah 36

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 In the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah, this word came to Jeremiah from Yahweh,	1 Nell'anno quarto di Ioiakìm, figlio di Giosia, re di Giuda, fu rivolta a Geremia questa parola da parte del Signore:
2 'Take a scroll and on it write al the words I have spoken to you about Israel, Judah and al the nations,from the day I first spoke to you, in the time of Josiah, until today.	2 "Prenditi un rotolo da scrivere e scrivi su di esso tutte le parole che io ti ho detto contro Israele e contro Giuda e contro tutte le nazioni, dal giorno in cui ti ho parlato, dai giorni di Giosia fino a questo giorno.
3 Perhaps when the House of Judah hears about al the disaster I intend to inflict on them, they will turn,each one of them, from their evil behaviour, so that I can forgive their sinful guilt.'	3 Forse la casa di Giuda ascolterà tutta la sventura che io sto pensando di procurare loro e si ritrarrà ciascuno dalla propria via malvagia; così io potrò perdonare le loro iniquità e i loro peccati".
4 Jeremiah then summoned Baruch son of Neriah, who at his dictation wrote down on the scrol all thewords Yahweh had spoken to him.	4 Geremia chiamò Baruc, figlio di Neria, e Baruc scrisse, sotto dettatura di Geremia, tutte le parole che il Signore gli aveva detto, nel rotolo della scrittura.
5 Jeremiah then gave Baruch this order, 'As I am prevented from entering the Temple of Yahweh,	5 Poi Geremia ordinò a Baruc così: "Io sono impedito, non posso andare alla casa del Signore.
6 you yourself must go and, from the scrol you wrote at my dictation, read all Yahweh's words to thepeople in his Temple on the day of the fast, and in this way you can read them in the hearing also of all theJudaeans who come in from their towns.	6 Tu va' e leggi, nel volume che hai scritto sotto mia dettatura, le parole del Signore, alle orecchie del popolo nella casa del Signore, nel giorno del digiuno, e le leggerai anche alle orecchie di tutti i Giudei che vengono dalle loro città.
7 Perhaps their prayers wil move Yahweh and they wil turn one and al from their evil behaviour, forgreat is the furious anger with which Yahweh has threatened this people.'	7 Forse giungerà la loro supplica dinanzi al Signore e ognuno ritornerà dalla sua via malvagia. Sì, è grande l'ira e il furore che il Signore ha minacciato contro questo popolo".
8 Baruch son of Neriah duly carried out the order that the prophet Jeremiah had given him, to read alYahweh's words from the book in his Temple.	8 Baruc, figlio di Neria, fece esattamente tutto ciò che gli aveva ordinato Geremia il profeta, leggendo sul libro le parole del Signore nella casa del Signore.
9 Now, in the fifth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah, in the ninth month, al the people ofJerusalem and all the people who could get to Jerusalem from the towns of Judah were summoned to a fastbefore Yahweh.	9 Nell'anno quinto di Ioiakìm, figlio di Giosia, re di Giuda, nel mese nono, convocarono un digiuno dinanzi al Signore per tutto il popolo di Gerusalemme e per tutto il popolo che poteva venire dalle città di Giuda in Gerusalemme.
10 Baruch then read Jeremiah's words from the book; this happened in the room of Gemariah son of thescribe Shaphan, in the upper court at the entry of the New Gate of the Temple of Yahweh, where all the peoplecould hear.	10 Baruc, quindi, lesse nel libro le parole di Geremia, nella casa del Signore, nella camera di Ghemarià, figlio di Safàn lo scriba, nel cortile superiore, all'ingresso della Porta Nuova della casa del Signore, alle orecchie di tutto il popolo.

12 went down to the royal palace, to the scribe's room. 14 The chief men then by common consent sent Jehudi son of Netaniah to Baruch, with Shelemiah sonof Cushi, to say, 'Come, and bring the scrol with you which you have been reading to the people.'	14 Allora tutti i prìncipi inviarono a Baruc Iudi, figlio di Selemìa, figlio dell'Etiope, a dirgli: "Prendi nella tua mano il volume che hai letto alle orecchie del popolo e vieni". 15 Bringing the scrol with him, Baruch son of Neriah appeared before them. 'Sit down,' they said, 'andread it out.' So Baruch read it to them.	15 Quindi gli dissero: "Siediti e leggi davanti a noi". Baruc lesse alle loro orecchie.
16 Having heard al the words they turned to one another in alarm and said to Baruch, 'We must certainlyinform the king of this.'	16 Or mentre ascoltavano tutte quelle parole si spaventarono e dissero l'un l'altro: "Dobbiamo assolutamente riferire al re tutte queste parole".
17 They then questioned Baruch, 'Tel us', they said, 'how you came to write al these words.'	17 Poi interrogarono Baruc: "Riferisci come hai scritto tutte queste cose".
18 'Jeremiah dictated them al to me,' Baruch replied, 'and I wrote them down in ink in this book.'	18 Baruc disse loro: "Di sua propria bocca diceva a me tutte queste parole e io scrivevo sul libro con l'inchiostro".
19 The chief men said to Baruch, 'You and Jeremiah had better go into hiding; and do not tel anyonewhere you are.'	19 I prìncipi dissero poi a Baruc: "Va', nasconditi, tu e Geremia, e nessuno sappia dove state!".
20 Whereupon they went off to the king in the palace court, depositing the scrol in the room of the scribeElishama. They then informed the king of the whole affair.	20 Essi, poi, si recarono presso il re alla corte del palazzo, lasciando il volume nella camera di Elisamà lo scriba, e riferirono alle orecchie del re ogni parola.
21 The king sent Jehudi for the scrol , and he brought it from the room of the scribe Elishama and read itto the king and all the chief men standing round the king.	21 Il re inviò Iudi a prendere il volume. Indi lo prese dalla camera di Elisamà lo scriba e lo lesse alla presenza del re e di tutti i prìncipi che stavano presso il re.
22 The king was sitting in his winter apartments -- it was the ninth month -- with a fire burning in a brazierin front of him.	22 Ora il re abitava nella casa invernale, si era nel mese nono, e un braciere stava ardendo dinanzi a lui.
23 Each time Jehudi had read three or four columns, the king cut them off with a scribe's knife and threwthem into the fire in the brazier until the whole of the scrol had been burnt in the brazier fire.	23 Appena Iudi aveva letto tre colonne o quattro, il re le stracciava con il temperino dello scriba e le gettava nel fuoco che era nel braciere, finché fu consumato l'intero volume sul fuoco che era nel braciere.
24 But in spite of hearing al these words, neither the king nor any of his courtiers took alarm or tore theirclothes;	24 Ascoltando tutte queste parole né il re né alcuno dei suoi servi tremarono né stracciarono le loro vesti.
25 and although Elnathan and Delaiah and Gemariah had urged the king not to burn the scrol he wouldnot listen to them,	25 E sebbene Elnatàn e Delaià e Ghemarià insistessero presso il re che non bruciasse il volume, tuttavia non volle ascoltarli.
26 but ordered the king's son Jerahmeel and Seraiah son of Azriel and Shelemiah son of Abdeel toarrest the scribe Baruch and the prophet Jeremiah. But Yahweh had hidden them.	26 Anzi il re ordinò al principe Ieracmeèl e a Seraià, figlio di Azrièl, e a Selemìa, figlio di Abdeèl, di arrestare Baruc lo scriba e Geremia il profeta. Ma il Signore li aveva nascosti.
27 Then the word of Yahweh came to Jeremiah, after the king had burnt the scrol containing the wordsBaruch had written at Jeremiah's dictation,	27 La parola del Signore fu rivolta a Geremia, dopo che il re ebbe bruciato il volume con le parole che aveva scritto Baruc sotto dettatura di Geremia, in questi termini:
28 'Take another scroll and write down all the words that were written on the first scrol burnt byJehoiakim king of Judah.	28 "Ritorna a prenderti un altro volume e scrivi in esso tutte le parole di prima, contenute nel volume precedente, quello che ha bruciato Ioiakìm, re di Giuda.
29 And as regards Jehoiakim king of Judah, you are to say, "Yahweh says this: You have burnt thatscrol , saying: Why have you written down: The king of Babylon will certainly come and lay this country wasteand leave it without human or animal?	29 Al re Ioiakìm, re di Giuda, dirai: Così dice il Signore: Tu hai bruciato questo volume, dicendo: "Perché hai scritto in esso così: Verrà, verrà il re di Babilonia e distruggerà questo paese e farà scomparire da esso uomini e bestie?".
30 So, this is what Yahweh says about Jehoiakim king of Judah: He wil have no one to occupy thethrone of David, and his corpse wil be tossed out to the heat of the day and the frost of the night.	30 Perciò così dice il Signore contro Ioiakìm, re di Giuda: Non avrà chi sieda sul trono di Davide, e il suo cadavere sarà gettato al calore del giorno e al freddo della notte.
31 I shal punish him, his offspring and his courtiers for their guilt; on them, on the citizens of Jerusalemand on the people of Judah I shal bring the total disaster which I had decreed for them but to which they havepaid no attention."	31 Io punirò sopra di lui e sopra la sua discendenza e sopra i suoi ministri le loro iniquità e farò arrivare contro di loro e contro gli abitanti di Gerusalemme e contro gli uomini di Giuda ogni sventura di cui ho parlato loro, senza che mi ascoltassero".
32 Jeremiah then took another scrol and gave it to the scribe Baruch son of Neriah, who in it atJeremiah's dictation wrote all the words of the book that Jehoiakim king of Judah had burnt, with many similarwords in addition.	32 Geremia, intanto, prese un altro volume e lo consegnò a Baruc, figlio di Neria, lo scriba, il quale scrisse su di esso, sotto dettatura di Geremia, tutte le parole del libro che Ioiakìm, re di Giuda, aveva bruciato nel fuoco. Furono, anzi, aggiunte ad esse molte altre parole simili a quelle.
