Isaiah 19

NEW JERUSALEM	VULGATA
1 Proclamation about Egypt: Look! Yahweh, riding a swift cloud, is coming to Egypt. The false gods ofEgypt totter before him and Egypt's heart quails within her.	1 Onus Ægypti. Ecce Dominus ascendet super nubem levem, et ingredietur Ægyptum, et commovebuntur simulacra Ægypti a facie ejus, et cor Ægypti tabescet in medio ejus,
2 I shal stir up Egypt against Egypt, they wil fight one another, brother against brother, friend againstfriend, city against city, kingdom against kingdom.	2 et concurrere faciam Ægyptios adversus Ægyptios ; et pugnabit vir contra fratrem suum, et vir contra amicum suum, civitas adversus civitatem, regnum adversus regnum.
3 Egypt's spirit wil fail within her and I shal confound her deliberations. They will consult false gods andwizards, ghosts and sorcerers.	3 Et dirumpetur spiritus Ægypti in visceribus ejus, et consilium ejus præcipitabo ; et interrogabunt simulacra sua, et divinos suos, et pythones, et ariolos.
4 And I shal hand Egypt over to the clutches of a cruel master, a ruthless king wil rule them -- declaresYahweh Sabaoth.	4 Et tradam Ægyptum in manu dominorum crudelium, et rex fortis dominabitur eorum, ait Dominus Deus exercituum.
5 The waters wil ebb from the sea, the river will dry up and run low,	5 Et arescet aqua de mari, et fluvius desolabitur atque siccabitur.
6 the streams wil become foul, the rivers of Egypt sink and dry up. Rush and reed wil turn black,	6 Et deficient flumina, attenuabuntur et siccabuntur rivi aggerum, calamus et juncus marcescet.
7 the Nile-plants on the banks of the Nile; all the vegetation of the Nile, will wither, blow away and be nomore.	7 Nudabitur alveus rivi a fonte suo, et omnis sementis irrigua siccabitur, arescet, et non erit.
8 The fishermen wil groan, it will be mourning for al who cast hook in the Nile; those who spread nets onthe waters wil lose heart.	8 Et mœrebunt piscatores, et lugebunt omnes mittentes in flumen hamum ; et expandentes rete super faciem aquarum emarcescent.
9 The workers of carded flax and the weavers of white cloth wil be confounded,	9 Confundentur qui operabantur linum, pectentes et texentes subtilia.
10 the weavers dismayed, al the workmen dejected.	10 Et erunt irrigua ejus flaccentia : omnes qui faciebant lacunas ad capiendos pisces.
11 Yes, the princes of Zoan are fools, Pharaoh's wisest councillors make up a stupid council. How dare you say to Pharaoh, 'I am descended from sages, I am descended from bygone kings'?	11 Stulti principes Taneos, sapientes consiliarii Pharaonis dederunt consilium insipiens. Quomodo dicetis Pharaoni : Filius sapientium ego, filius regum antiquorum ?
12 Where are these sages of yours? Let them tel you, so that all may know, the plans Yahweh Sabaothhas made against Egypt!	12 Ubi nunc sunt sapientes tui ? annuntient tibi, et indicent quid cogitaverit Dominus exercituum super Ægyptum.
13 The princes of Zoan are fools, the princes of Noph, self-deceivers, the top men of her provinces haveled Egypt astray.	13 Stulti facti sunt principes Taneos, emarcuerunt principes Mempheos ; deceperunt Ægyptum, angulum populorum ejus.
14 Yahweh has infused them with a giddy spirit; they have led Egypt astray in al she undertakes like adrunkard straying about as he vomits.	14 Dominus miscuit in medio ejus spiritum vertiginis ; et errare fecerunt Ægyptum in omni opere suo, sicut errat ebrius et vomens.
15 Nowadays no one does for Egypt what top and tail, palm and reed used to do.	15 Et non erit Ægypto opus quod faciat caput et caudam, incurvantem et refrenantem.
16 That day Egypt will be like women, trembling and terrified at the threatening hand of Yahweh Sabaoth,when he raises it against her.	16 In die illa erit Ægyptus quasi mulieres ; et stupebunt, et timebunt a facie commotionis manus Domini exercituum, quam ipse movebit super eam.
17 The land of Judah will become Egypt's shame; whenever she is reminded of it, she wil be terrified,because of the plan which Yahweh Sabaoth has laid against her.	17 Et erit terra Juda Ægypto in pavorem ; omnis qui illius fuerit recordatus pavebit a facie consilii Domini exercituum, quod ipse cogitavit super eam.
18 That day in Egypt there wil be five towns speaking the language of Canaan and pledging themselvesto Yahweh Sabaoth; one of them will be cal ed City of the Sun.	18 In die illa erunt quinque civitates in terra Ægypti loquentes lingua Chanaan, et jurantes per Dominum exercituum : Civitas solis vocabitur una.
19 That day there wil be an altar dedicated to Yahweh in the centre of Egypt and, close to the frontier, apil ar dedicated to Yahweh,	19 In die illa erit altare Domini in medio terræ Ægypti, et titulus Domini juxta terminum ejus.
20 and this will be a sign and a witness to Yahweh Sabaoth in Egypt. When they cry to Yahweh for helpbecause of oppressors, he wil send them a Saviour and leader to deliver them.	20 Erit in signum et in testimonium Domino exercituum in terra Ægypti ; clamabunt enim ad Dominum a facie tribulationis, et mittet eis salvatorem et propugnatorem qui liberet eos.
21 Yahweh will reveal himself to Egypt, and the Egyptians wil acknowledge Yahweh that day and wiloffer sacrifices and cereal offerings, and wil make vows to Yahweh and perform them.	21 Et cognoscetur Dominus ab Ægypto, et cognoscent Ægyptii Dominum in die illa ; et colent eum in hostiis et in muneribus ; et vota vovebunt Domino, et solvent.
22 And if Yahweh strikes Egypt, having struck he wil heal, and they wil turn to Yahweh who wil heartheir prayers and heal them.	22 Et percutiet Dominus Ægyptum plaga, et sanabit eam ; et revertentur ad Dominum, et placabitur eis, et sanabit eos.
23 That day there wil be a highway from Egypt to Assyria. Assyria will have access to Egypt and Egypthave access to Assyria. Egypt wil serve with Assyria.	23 In die illa erit via de Ægypto in Assyrios ; et intrabit Assyrius Ægyptum, et Ægyptius in Assyrios, et servient Ægyptii Assur.
24 That day Israel will make a third with Egypt and Assyria, a blessing at the centre of the world,	24 In die illa erit Israël tertius Ægyptio et Assyrio ; benedictio in medio terræ
25 and Yahweh Sabaoth wil bless them in the words, 'Blessed be my people Egypt, Assyria my creation,and Israel my heritage.'	25 cui benedixit Dominus exercituum, dicens : Benedictus populus meus Ægypti, et opus manuum mearum Assyrio ; hæreditas autem mea Israël.
