Isaiah 19

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Proclamation about Egypt: Look! Yahweh, riding a swift cloud, is coming to Egypt. The false gods ofEgypt totter before him and Egypt's heart quails within her.	1 Oracolo sull'Egitto. Ecco il Signore che cavalca su una nube leggera e se ne va in Egitto. Vacillano gl'idoli dell'Egitto davanti a lui e nel petto viene meno il cuore agli Egiziani.
2 I shal stir up Egypt against Egypt, they wil fight one another, brother against brother, friend againstfriend, city against city, kingdom against kingdom.	2 Aizzerò l'Egitto contro l'Egitto, combatteranno gli uni contro gli altri, ciascuno contro il suo prossimo, città contro città, regno contro regno.
3 Egypt's spirit wil fail within her and I shal confound her deliberations. They will consult false gods andwizards, ghosts and sorcerers.	3 La potenza dell'Egitto svanirà in mezzo ad esso, e renderò vano il suo consiglio; per cui ricorreranno agli idoli e agli incantatori, ai negromanti e agli indovini.
4 And I shal hand Egypt over to the clutches of a cruel master, a ruthless king wil rule them -- declaresYahweh Sabaoth.	4 Consegnerò gli Egiziani in balìa di un duro padrone, un re crudele dominerà su di loro. Oracolo del Signore, Dio degli eserciti.
5 The waters wil ebb from the sea, the river will dry up and run low,	5 Le acque del mare si disseccheranno, il fiume diventerà arido e asciutto.

10 the weavers dismayed, al the workmen dejected.	10 I tessitori saranno costernati, tutti gli operai salariati rattristati nel loro animo.
11 Yes, the princes of Zoan are fools, Pharaoh's wisest councillors make up a stupid council. How dare you say to Pharaoh, 'I am descended from sages, I am descended from bygone kings'?	11 Certamente stolti sono i prìncipi di Tanis, i più sapienti dei consiglieri del faraone formano un consiglio stupido. Come potete dire al faraone: "Io sono discepolo dei sapienti, discepolo di antichi regnanti"?
12 Where are these sages of yours? Let them tel you, so that all may know, the plans Yahweh Sabaothhas made against Egypt!	12 Dove sono dunque i tuoi sapienti? Ti annuncino e facciano conoscere ciò che progettò il Signore degli eserciti a proposito dell'Egitto.
13 The princes of Zoan are fools, the princes of Noph, self-deceivers, the top men of her provinces haveled Egypt astray.	13 Sono divenuti stolti i prìncipi di Tanis, si ingannano i prìncipi di Menfi. Hanno fatto traviare l'Egitto i capi delle sue tribù.

16 That day Egypt will be like women, trembling and terrified at the threatening hand of Yahweh Sabaoth,when he raises it against her.	16 In quel giorno gli Egiziani saranno come femmine, tremeranno spaventati di fronte alla mano che il Signore degli eserciti agiterà contro di loro.
17 The land of Judah will become Egypt's shame; whenever she is reminded of it, she wil be terrified,because of the plan which Yahweh Sabaoth has laid against her.	17 Il paese di Giuda diventerà un terrore per l'Egitto; ogni volta che Giuda sarà ricordato, se ne avrà timore a causa del progetto che il Signore degli eserciti ha formato contro di esso.
18 That day in Egypt there wil be five towns speaking the language of Canaan and pledging themselvesto Yahweh Sabaoth; one of them will be cal ed City of the Sun.	18 In quel giorno vi saranno in Egitto cinque città che parleranno la lingua di Canaan e giureranno per il Signore degli eserciti; una di queste si chiamerà Città del sole.
19 That day there wil be an altar dedicated to Yahweh in the centre of Egypt and, close to the frontier, apil ar dedicated to Yahweh,	19 In quel giorno vi sarà nel mezzo del paese di Egitto un altare dedicato al Signore, presso la sua frontiera una stele in onore del Signore.
20 and this will be a sign and a witness to Yahweh Sabaoth in Egypt. When they cry to Yahweh for helpbecause of oppressors, he wil send them a Saviour and leader to deliver them.	20 Ci sarà un segno e una testimonianza per il Signore degli eserciti nel paese di Egitto. Quando invocheranno il Signore di fronte agli oppressori, egli invierà loro un salvatore e un difensore, che li libererà.
21 Yahweh will reveal himself to Egypt, and the Egyptians wil acknowledge Yahweh that day and wiloffer sacrifices and cereal offerings, and wil make vows to Yahweh and perform them.	21 Il Signore si farà conoscere all'Egitto; gli Egiziani riconosceranno il Signore in quel giorno; lo serviranno con sacrifici e oblazioni, faranno voti al Signore e li manterranno.
22 And if Yahweh strikes Egypt, having struck he wil heal, and they wil turn to Yahweh who wil heartheir prayers and heal them.	22 Il Signore percuoterà ancora gli Egiziani, li percuoterà, ma poi li guarirà; si convertiranno al Signore, che sarà loro propizio e li guarirà.
23 That day there wil be a highway from Egypt to Assyria. Assyria will have access to Egypt and Egypthave access to Assyria. Egypt wil serve with Assyria.	23 In quel giorno ci sarà una strada dall'Egitto fino all'Assiria. L'Assiria verrà in Egitto e l'Egitto andrà in Assiria e gli Egiziani serviranno il Signore insieme con gli Assiri.
24 That day Israel will make a third with Egypt and Assyria, a blessing at the centre of the world,	24 In quel giorno Israele, il terzo con l'Egitto e con l'Assiria, sarà una benedizione in mezzo alla terra.
25 and Yahweh Sabaoth wil bless them in the words, 'Blessed be my people Egypt, Assyria my creation,and Israel my heritage.'	25 Il Signore degli eserciti li benedirà dicendo: "Benedetto sia l'Egitto, popolo mio, l'Assiria, opera delle mie mani, e Israele mia eredità".
