Sirach 36

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA MARTINI
1 Take pity on us, Master, Lord of the universe, look at us, spread fear of yourself throughout al othernations.	1 Dio di tutte le cose abbi misericordia di noi, e volgi lo sguardo a noi, e fa vedere a noi la luce di tua benignità.
2 Raise your hand against the foreign nations and let them see your might.	2 E infondi il timore di te nelle nazioni, le quali non ti conoscono, affinchè veggano, che Dio non havvi fuora di te, e raccontin le tue meraviglie.
3 As, in their sight, you have proved yourself holy to us, so now, in our sight, prove yourself great to them.	3 Alza il tuo braccio contro le straniere nazioni, affinchè veggano il tuo potere.
4 Let them acknowledge you, just as we have acknowledged that there is no God but you, Lord.	4 Perocché siccome sotto degli occhi loro tu dimostrasti in noi la tua santità, cosi sotto degli occhi nostri dimostra sopra di loro la tua grandezza,
5 Send new portents, do fresh wonders, win glory for your hand and your right arm.	5 Affinchè eglino ti conoscano, come noi pure abbiam conosciuto, che non v'è Dio fuori di te, o Signore.
6 Rouse your fury, pour out your rage, destroy the opponent, annihilate the enemy.	6 Rinovella i prodigj, e fa nuove meraviglie.
7 Hasten the day, remember the oath, and let people tell of your mighty deeds.	7 Glorifica la tua mano, e il tuo braccio destro.
8 Let fiery wrath swal ow up the survivor, and destruction overtake those who oppress your people.	8 Sveglia il furore, e versa l'ira.
9 Crush the heads of hostile rulers who say, 'There is no one else but us!'	9 Togli via l'avversario, e conquidi il nimico.
10 Gather together all the tribes of Jacob, restore them their heritage as at the beginning.	10 Accelera il tempo, né ti scordar di por fine; affinchè siano celebrate le tue meraviglie.
11 Take pity, Lord, on the people cal ed by your name, on Israel whom you have made your first-born.	11 Quelli, che avranno scampo sian divorati dal fuoco dell'ira, e quelli, che straziano il popol tuo, trovin la perdizione.
12 Have compassion on your holy city, on Jerusalem, the place where you rest.	12 Spezza le teste de' principi avversi a noi, i quali dicono: Nissuno è fuori di noi.
13 Fil Zion with your praises and your sanctuary with your glory.	13 Aduna tutte le tribù di Giacobbe, affinchè conoscano, che Dio non v'è fuori di te, e raccontin le tue meraviglie, e siano tuo retaggio, come da principio.
14 Vindicate those whom you created first, fulfil what has been prophesied in your name.	14 Abbi misericordia del popol tuo, che porta il tuo nome, e di Israele, cui tu trattasti come tuo primogenito.
15 Give those who wait for you their reward, let your prophets be proved true.	15 Abbi misericordia della città santificata da te, di Gerusalemme, città, in cui tu riposi.
16 Grant, Lord, the prayer of your servants, in the terms of Aaron's blessing on your people,	16 Empi Sionne delle ineffabili tue parole, e il popolo tuo di gloria.
17 so that al the earth's inhabitants may acknowledge that you are the Lord, the everlasting God.	17 Dichiarati in favor di coloro, i quali fin da principio son tue creature, e risuscita le predizioni annunziate in tuo nome dagli antichi profeti.
18 The stomach takes in all kinds of food, but some foods are better than others.	18 Rendi mercede a coloro, i quali vivono nella espettazione di te, affinchè fedeli riconoscansi i tuoi profeti, ed esaudisci le orazioni de' servi tuoi,
19 As the palate discerns the flavour of game, so a shrewd listener detects lying words.	19 Secondo la benedizione data da Aronne al tuo popolo, e guida noi nella via della giustizia, affinchè gli abitatori tutti della terra conoscano, che tu se' il Dio ordinatore de' secoli.
20 A perverse character causes depression in others; it needs experience to know how to repay such aone.	20 Il ventre riceve ogni sorta di nudrimento, ma v'ha cibo, che è migliore d'un altro.
21 A woman wil accept any husband, but some daughters are better than others.	21 Il palato discerne la pietanza di cacciagione, e il cuore assennato le parole di menzogna.
22 A woman's beauty delights the beholder, a man likes nothing better.	22 Il cuore perverso sarà cagion di dolori, ma l'uom sapiente gli farà resistenza.
23 If her tongue is kind and gentle, her husband is the happiest of men.	23 La donna sposerà un maschio qualunque sia, ma delle fanciulle una è migliore d'un'altra.
24 The man who takes a wife has the makings of a fortune, a helper to match himself, a pil ar of support.	24 La avvenenza della moglie esilara la farcia del marito, e induce in lui un affetto, che sorpassa ogni umano desiderio.
25 When property has no fence, it is open to plunder, when a man has no wife, he is aimless andquerulous.	25 Se ella ha una lingua sanatrice, se lingua di mansuetudine, e di carità; il marito di lei non è come i figliuoli degli uomini.
26 Wil anyone trust an armed thief who flits from town to town?	26 Chi possiede una buona moglie, comincia a stabilir la sua casa; egli ha l'aiuto simile a se, e la colonna di suo riposo.
27 So it is with the man who has no nest, and lodges wherever night overtakes him.	27 Dove manca la siepe, sarà saccheggiato il podere, e dove non è una moglie l'uomo sospira in povertà.
	28 Chi vuoi fidarsi di uno, che non ha nido, e va a dormire dove lo coglie il buio della notte, ed è come uno spedito ladro, che salta da una città in un'altra!
