Sirach 36

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 Take pity on us, Master, Lord of the universe, look at us, spread fear of yourself throughout al othernations.	1 Ten piedad de nosotros, Dios, dueño de todas las cosas, mira y siembra tu temor sobre todas las naciones.
2 Raise your hand against the foreign nations and let them see your might.	2 Alza tu mano contra las naciones extranjeras, para que reconozcan tu señorío.
3 As, in their sight, you have proved yourself holy to us, so now, in our sight, prove yourself great to them.	3 Como ante ellas te has mostrado santo con nosotros, así ante nosotros muéstrate grande con ellas.
4 Let them acknowledge you, just as we have acknowledged that there is no God but you, Lord.	4 Que te reconozcan, como nosotros hemos reconocido que no hay Dios fuera de ti, Señor.
5 Send new portents, do fresh wonders, win glory for your hand and your right arm.	5 Renueva las señales, repite tus maravillas, glorifica tu mano y tu brazo derecho.
6 Rouse your fury, pour out your rage, destroy the opponent, annihilate the enemy.	6 Despierta tu furor y derrama tu ira, extermina al adversario, aniquila al enemigo.
7 Hasten the day, remember the oath, and let people tell of your mighty deeds.	7 Acelera la hora, recuerda el juramento, y que se publiquen tus grandezas.
8 Let fiery wrath swal ow up the survivor, and destruction overtake those who oppress your people.	8 Que el fuego de la ira devore al que se escape, y los que hacen daño a tu pueblo hallen la perdición.
9 Crush the heads of hostile rulers who say, 'There is no one else but us!'	9 Aplasta la cabeza de los jefes enemigos, que dicen: «Nadie más que nosotros».
10 Gather together all the tribes of Jacob, restore them their heritage as at the beginning.	10 Congrega todas las tribus de Jacob, dales su heredad como al principio.
11 Take pity, Lord, on the people cal ed by your name, on Israel whom you have made your first-born.	11 Ten piedad, Señor, del pueblo llamado con tu nombre, de Israel, a quien igualaste con el primogénito.
12 Have compassion on your holy city, on Jerusalem, the place where you rest.	12 Ten compasión de tu santa ciudad, de Jerusalén, lugar de tu reposo.
13 Fil Zion with your praises and your sanctuary with your glory.	13 Llena a Sión de tu alabanza, y de tu gloria tu santuario.
14 Vindicate those whom you created first, fulfil what has been prophesied in your name.	14 Da testimonio a tus primeras criaturas, mantén las profecías dichas en tu nombre.
15 Give those who wait for you their reward, let your prophets be proved true.	15 Da su recompensa a los que te aguardan, y que tus profetas queden acreditados.
16 Grant, Lord, the prayer of your servants, in the terms of Aaron's blessing on your people,	16 Escucha, Señor, la súplica de tus siervos, según la bendición de Aarón sobre tu pueblo.
17 so that al the earth's inhabitants may acknowledge that you are the Lord, the everlasting God.	17 Y todos los de la tierra reconozcan que tú eres el Señor, el Dios eterno.
18 The stomach takes in all kinds of food, but some foods are better than others.	18 Todo alimento traga el vientre, pero unos alimentos son mejores que otros.
19 As the palate discerns the flavour of game, so a shrewd listener detects lying words.	19 El paladar distingue por el gusto la carne de caza, así el corazón inteligente las palabras mentirosas.
20 A perverse character causes depression in others; it needs experience to know how to repay such aone.	20 El corazón perverso da tristeza, pero el hombre de experiencia le da su merecido.
21 A woman wil accept any husband, but some daughters are better than others.	21 A cualquier marido acepta la mujer, pero unas hijas son mejores que otras.
22 A woman's beauty delights the beholder, a man likes nothing better.	22 La belleza de la mujer recrea la mirada, y el hombre la desea más que ninguna cosa.
23 If her tongue is kind and gentle, her husband is the happiest of men.	23 Si en su lengua hay ternura y mansedumbre, su marido ya no es como los demás hombres.
24 The man who takes a wife has the makings of a fortune, a helper to match himself, a pil ar of support.	24 El que adquiere una mujer, adquiere el comienzo de la fortuna, una ayuda semejante a él y columna de apoyo.
25 When property has no fence, it is open to plunder, when a man has no wife, he is aimless andquerulous.	25 Donde no hay valla, la propiedad es saqueada, donde no hay mujer, gime un hombre a la deriva.
26 Wil anyone trust an armed thief who flits from town to town?	26 ¿Quién se fiará del ladrón ágil que salta de ciudad en ciudad?
27 So it is with the man who has no nest, and lodges wherever night overtakes him.	27 Así tampoco del hombre que no tiene nido y que se alberga donde la noche le sorprende.
