Sirach 36

NEW JERUSALEM	KÁLDI-NEOVULGÁTA
1 Take pity on us, Master, Lord of the universe, look at us, spread fear of yourself throughout al othernations.	1 Könyörülj rajtunk, mindenség Istene, tekints ránk, és mutasd meg nekünk irgalmad világosságát!
2 Raise your hand against the foreign nations and let them see your might.	2 Bocsásd félelmedet a népekre, akik nem keresnek téged, hadd tudják meg, hogy nincs Isten kívüled, és híreszteljék csodás tetteidet!
3 As, in their sight, you have proved yourself holy to us, so now, in our sight, prove yourself great to them.	3 Emeld fel kezedet az idegen népek ellen, hogy lássák hatalmadat!
4 Let them acknowledge you, just as we have acknowledged that there is no God but you, Lord.	4 Amint fölöttünk szentnek bizonyultál az ő szemük láttára, úgy mutasd magad dicsőnek irányukban szemünk előtt,
5 Send new portents, do fresh wonders, win glory for your hand and your right arm.	5 hadd ismerjék meg, amint mi már tudjuk, hogy nincs Isten kívüled, Uram!
6 Rouse your fury, pour out your rage, destroy the opponent, annihilate the enemy.	6 Újítsd meg a jeleket és ismételd a csodákat,
7 Hasten the day, remember the oath, and let people tell of your mighty deeds.	7 dicsőítsd meg kezedet, jobb karodat!
8 Let fiery wrath swal ow up the survivor, and destruction overtake those who oppress your people.	8 Szítsd haragodat és öntsd ki bosszúságodat,
9 Crush the heads of hostile rulers who say, 'There is no one else but us!'	9 törd meg az ellenséget és verd meg az ellenfelet!
10 Gather together all the tribes of Jacob, restore them their heritage as at the beginning.	10 Siettesd az időt és emlékezz meg a végről, hogy megemlegessék csodás tetteidet!
11 Take pity, Lord, on the people cal ed by your name, on Israel whom you have made your first-born.	11 Pusztuljon el a tűz haragjától, aki menedéket keres, hadd vesszenek, akik gonoszul bánnak népeddel!
12 Have compassion on your holy city, on Jerusalem, the place where you rest.	12 Rontsd meg az ellenséges fejedelmek fejét, akik mondják: »Kívülünk nincsen más!«
13 Fil Zion with your praises and your sanctuary with your glory.	13 Gyűjtsd egybe Jákob minden törzsét! Hadd ismerjék meg, hogy nincs más Isten kívüled, és emlegessék csodás tetteidet! Tekintsd őket örökségednek, úgy, mint egykor.
14 Vindicate those whom you created first, fulfil what has been prophesied in your name.	14 Könyörülj népeden, amely nevedet viseli, Izraelen, akit elsőszülöttednek hívtál.
15 Give those who wait for you their reward, let your prophets be proved true.	15 Könyörülj szent városodon, Jeruzsálemen, nyugalmad helyén!
16 Grant, Lord, the prayer of your servants, in the terms of Aaron's blessing on your people,	16 Töltsd meg Siont kimondhatatlan igéiddel, és népedet dicsőségeddel.
17 so that al the earth's inhabitants may acknowledge that you are the Lord, the everlasting God.	17 Tégy tanúságot azok mellett, akik teremtményeid között az elsők, és teljesítsd a jövendöléseket, amelyeket a régi próféták mondtak nevedben.
18 The stomach takes in all kinds of food, but some foods are better than others.	18 Jutalmazd meg azokat, akik benned bizakodnak, hogy prófétáid igazmondóknak bizonyuljanak, és hallgasd meg szolgáid könyörgését
19 As the palate discerns the flavour of game, so a shrewd listener detects lying words.	19 Áronnak népedre adott áldása szerint, és vezess minket az igazság útján! Hadd tudja meg a föld minden lakója, hogy te vagy az Isten, az örökkévalóság szemlélője.
20 A perverse character causes depression in others; it needs experience to know how to repay such aone.	20 A gyomor minden étket bevesz, de van étel, amely jobb a másiknál.
21 A woman wil accept any husband, but some daughters are better than others.	21 Az íny a vadhúst vizsgálja, az értelmes szív pedig a hazug szavakat.

27 So it is with the man who has no nest, and lodges wherever night overtakes him.	27 Ahol kerítés nincsen, kifosztják a birtokot, s ahol nincs asszony, a férfi szűkölködve fohászkodik.
	28 Ki bízik meg abban, akinek nincsen fészke, és ott tér be, ahol az éjszaka éri, és mint felövezett rabló városról városra siet?
