NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Listen then, kings, and understand; rulers of remotest lands, take warning;	1 ¡Escuchen, reyes, y comprendan! ¡Aprendan, jueces de los confines de la tierra!
2 hear this, you who govern great populations, taking pride in your hosts of subject nations!	2 ¡Presten atención, los que dominan multitudes y están orgullosos de esa muchedumbre de naciones!
3 For sovereignty is given to you by the Lord and power by the Most High, who will himself probe youracts and scrutinise your intentions.	3 Porque el Señor les ha dado el dominio, y el poder lo han recibo del Altísimo: él examinará las obras de ustedes y juzgará sus designios,
4 If therefore, as servants of his kingdom, you have not ruled justly nor observed the law, nor fol owed thewil of God,	4 Ya que ustedes, siendo ministros de su reino, no han gobernado con rectitud ni han respetado la Ley ni han obrado según la voluntad de Dios
5 he wil fal on you swiftly and terribly. On the highly placed a ruthless judgement falls;	5 él caerá sobre ustedes en forma terrible y repentina, ya que un juicio inexorable espera a los que están arriba.
6 the lowly are pardoned, out of pity, but the mighty wil be mightily tormented.	6 Al pequeño, por piedad, se le perdona, pero los poderosos serán examinados con rigor.
7 For the Lord of al does not cower before anyone, he does not stand in awe of greatness, since hehimself has made small and great and provides for al alike;	7 Porque el Señor de todos no retrocede ante nadie, ni lo intimida la grandeza: él hizo al pequeño y al grande, y cuida de todos por igual,
8 but a searching trial awaits those who wield power.	8 Pero los poderosos serán severamente examinados.
9 So, monarchs, my words are meant for you, so that you may learn wisdom and not fal into error;	9 A ustedes, soberanos, se dirigen mis palabras, para que aprendan la Sabiduría y no incurran en falta;
10 for those who in holiness observe holy things will be adjudged holy, and, accepting instruction fromthem, wil find their defence in them.	10 porque los que observen santamente las leyes santas serán reconocidos como santos, y los que se dejen instruir por ellas, también en ellas encontrarán su defensa.
11 Set your heart, therefore, on what I have to say, listen with a wil , and you wil be instructed.	11 Deseen, entonces, mis palabras; búsquenlas ardientemente, y serán instruidos. Encuentro con la Sabiduría
12 Wisdom is bril iant, she never fades. By those who love her, she is readily seen, by those who seekher, she is readily found.	12 La Sabiduría es luminosa y nunca pierde su brillo: se deja contemplar fácilmente por los que la aman y encontrar por los que la buscan.
13 She anticipates those who desire her by making herself known first.	13 Ella se anticipa a darse a conocer a los que la desean.
14 Whoever gets up early to seek her will have no trouble but wil find her sitting at the door.	14 El que madruga para buscarla no se fatigará, porque la encontrará sentada a su puerta.
15 Meditating on her is understanding in its perfect form, and anyone keeping awake for her will soon befree from care.	15 Meditar en ella es la perfección de la prudencia, y el que se desvela por su causa pronto quedará libre de inquietudes.
16 For she herself searches everywhere for those who are worthy of her, benevolently appearing to them on their ways, anticipating their every thought.	16 La Sabiduría busca por todas partes a los que son dignos de ella, se les aparece con benevolencia en los caminos y les sale al encuentro en todos sus pensamientos.
17 For Wisdom begins with the sincere desire for instruction, care for instruction means loving her,	17 El comienzo de la Sabiduría es el verdadero deseo de instruirse, querer instruirse, es amarla;
18 loving her means keeping her laws, attention to her laws guarantees incorruptibility,	18 amarla, es cumplir sus leyes, observar sus leyes, es garantía de incorruptibilidad,
19 and incorruptibility brings us near to God;	19 y la incorruptibilidad hace estar cerca de Dios:
20 the desire for Wisdom thus leads to sovereignty.	20 así, el deseo de la Sabiduría conduce a la realeza.
21 If then thrones and sceptres delight you, monarchs of the nations, honour Wisdom, so that you mayreign for ever.	21 Si a ustedes, entonces, soberanos de los pueblos, les agradan los tronos y los cetros, honren a la Sabiduría y reinarán para siempre.
22 What Wisdom is and how she was born, I shal now explain; I shal hide no mysteries from you, butshall fol ow her steps from the outset of her origin, setting out what we know of her in ful light, without departingfrom the truth.	22 ¿Pero qué es la Sabiduría y cuál es su origen? Yo lo voy a anunciar, sin ocultarles sus misterios: me remontaré hasta sus orígenes más remotos, pondré al descubierto su conocimiento, y no me apartaré de la verdad.
23 Blighting envy is no companion for me, for envy has nothing in common with Wisdom.	23 No me acompañará en el camino la envidia corrosiva, porque ella no tiene nada en común con la Sabiduría.
24 In the greatest number of the wise lies the world's salvation, in a sagacious king the stability of apeople.	24 Una multitud de sabios es la salvación del mundo, y un rey sensato asegura la estabilidad de su pueblo.
25 Learn, therefore, from my words; the gain will be yours.	25 Por lo tanto, déjense instruir por mis palabras, y esto les resultará provechoso.
