NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 Listen then, kings, and understand; rulers of remotest lands, take warning;	1 Oíd, pues, reyes, y enteded. Aprended, jueces de los confines de la tierra.
2 hear this, you who govern great populations, taking pride in your hosts of subject nations!	2 Estad atentos los que gobernáis multitudes y estáis orgullosos de la muchedumbre de vuestros pueblos.
3 For sovereignty is given to you by the Lord and power by the Most High, who will himself probe youracts and scrutinise your intentions.	3 Porque del Señor habéis recibido el poder, del Altísimo, la soberanía; él examinará vuestras obras y sondeará vuestras intenciones.
4 If therefore, as servants of his kingdom, you have not ruled justly nor observed the law, nor fol owed thewil of God,	4 Si, como ministros que sois de su reino, no habéis juzgado rectamente, ni observado la ley, ni caminado siguiendo la voluntad de Dios,
5 he wil fal on you swiftly and terribly. On the highly placed a ruthless judgement falls;	5 terrible y repentino se presentará ante vosotros. Porque un juicio implacable espera a los que están en lo alto;
6 the lowly are pardoned, out of pity, but the mighty wil be mightily tormented.	6 al pequeño, por piedad, se le perdona, pero los poderosos serán poderosamente examinados.
7 For the Lord of al does not cower before anyone, he does not stand in awe of greatness, since hehimself has made small and great and provides for al alike;	7 Que el Señor de todos ante nadie retrocede, no hay grandeza que se le imponga; al pequeño como al grande él mismo los hizo y de todos tiene igual cuidado,
8 but a searching trial awaits those who wield power.	8 pero una investigación severa aguarda a los que están en el poder.
9 So, monarchs, my words are meant for you, so that you may learn wisdom and not fal into error;	9 A vosotros, pues, soberanos, se dirigen mis palabras para que aprendaís sabiduría y no faltéis;
10 for those who in holiness observe holy things will be adjudged holy, and, accepting instruction fromthem, wil find their defence in them.	10 porque los que guarden santamente las cosas santas, serán reconocidos santos, y los que se dejen instruir en ellas, encontrarán defensa.
11 Set your heart, therefore, on what I have to say, listen with a wil , and you wil be instructed.	11 Desead, pues, mis palabras; ansiadlas, que ellas os instruirán.
12 Wisdom is bril iant, she never fades. By those who love her, she is readily seen, by those who seekher, she is readily found.	12 Radiante e inmarcesible es la Sabiduría. Fácilmente la contemplan los que la aman y la encuentran los que la buscan.
13 She anticipates those who desire her by making herself known first.	13 Se anticipa a darse a conocer a los que la anhelan.
14 Whoever gets up early to seek her will have no trouble but wil find her sitting at the door.	14 Quien madruge para buscarla, no se fatigará, que a su puerta la encontrará sentada.
15 Meditating on her is understanding in its perfect form, and anyone keeping awake for her will soon befree from care.	15 Pensar en ella es la perfección de la prudencia, y quien por ella se desvele, pronto se verá sin cuidados.
16 For she herself searches everywhere for those who are worthy of her, benevolently appearing to them on their ways, anticipating their every thought.	16 Pues ella misma va por todas partes buscando a los que son dignos de ella: se les muestra benévola en los caminos y les sale al encuentro en todos sus pensamientos.
17 For Wisdom begins with the sincere desire for instruction, care for instruction means loving her,	17 Pues su comienzo es el deseo más verdadero de instrucción, la preocupación por la instrucción es el amor,
18 loving her means keeping her laws, attention to her laws guarantees incorruptibility,	18 el amor es la observancia de sus leyes, la atención a las leyes es la garantía de la incorruptibilidad
19 and incorruptibility brings us near to God;	19 y la incorruptibilidad hace estar cerca de Dios;
20 the desire for Wisdom thus leads to sovereignty.	20 por tanto, el deseo de la Sabiduría conduce a la realeza.
21 If then thrones and sceptres delight you, monarchs of the nations, honour Wisdom, so that you mayreign for ever.	21 Si, pues, gustáis de tronos y cetros, soberanos de los pueblos, apreciad la Sabiduría para reinéis eternamente.
22 What Wisdom is and how she was born, I shal now explain; I shal hide no mysteries from you, butshall fol ow her steps from the outset of her origin, setting out what we know of her in ful light, without departingfrom the truth.	22 Qué es la Sabiduría y cómo ha nacido lo voy a declarar; no os ocultaré los misterios, sino que seguiré sus huellas desde el comienzo de su existencia, pondré su conocimiento al descubierto y no me apartaré de la verdad.
23 Blighting envy is no companion for me, for envy has nothing in common with Wisdom.	23 Tampoco me acompañará en mi camino la envidia mezquina, que nada tiene que ver con la Sabiduría.
24 In the greatest number of the wise lies the world's salvation, in a sagacious king the stability of apeople.	24 Pues la abundancia de sabios es la salvación del mundo y un rey prudente, la estabilidad del pueblo.
25 Learn, therefore, from my words; the gain will be yours.	25 Dejaos, pues, instruir por mis palabras: os serán útiles.
