Proverbs 29

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Whoever is stiff-necked under reproof wil be suddenly and irremediably broken.	1 L'uomo che, spesso rimproverato, persiste nell'errore, improvvisamente e irrimediabilmente sarà distrutto.
2 When the upright are on the increase, the people rejoice; when the wicked are in power, the peoplegroan.	2 Quando governano i giusti, il popolo si allieta; quando dominano gli empi, il popolo sospira.
3 The lover of Wisdom makes his father glad, but the patron of prostitutes fritters his wealth away.	3 Un uomo che ama la sapienza allieta il padre; chi frequenta le prostitute dissipa la ricchezza.
4 A king gives a country stability by justice, an extortioner brings it to ruin.	4 Con la giustizia un re consolida il paese; chi aggrava le esazioni lo conduce alla rovina.
5 Whoever flatters his companion spreads a net for his feet.	5 Un uomo che adula il suo prossimo tende un laccio sotto i suoi piedi.
6 In the sin of the wicked lies a snare, but the upright exults and rejoices.	6 Nel peccato di un uomo empio c'è un laccio; il giusto invece esulta e si rallegra.
7 The upright understands the cause of the weak, the wicked has not the wit to understand it.	7 Il giusto conosce il diritto dei poveri, ma l'empio non comprende la scienza.
8 Scoffers set a city in ferment, but the wise moderate anger.	8 Gli uomini senza scrupoli turbano la città, i saggi allontanano il furore.
9 Let someone wise argue with a fool, anger and good humour alike wil be wasted.	9 Un uomo saggio ha un processo con lo stolto? Si agiti o rida, non ci sarà mai pace.
10 The bloodthirsty hate the honest, but the upright seek them out.	10 Gli omicidi odiano chi è retto; i retti invece cercano la sua vita.
11 The fool blurts out every angry feeling, but the wise subdues and restrains them.	11 Tutto il suo bollore fa esplodere lo stolto; il saggio invece lo reprime e lo trattiene.
12 When a ruler listens to false reports, al his ministers wil be scoundrels.	12 Un capo si interessa a un resoconto falso? Tutti i suoi subalterni diventano cattivi.
13 Poor and oppressor are found together, Yahweh gives light to the eyes of both.	13 Il povero e l'oppressore vanno insieme: dà luce agli occhi di ambedue il Signore.
14 The king who judges the weak with equity sees his throne set firm for ever.	14 Un re che giudica con equità i poveri: il suo trono per sempre si consolida.
15 The stick and the reprimand bestow wisdom, a young man left to himself brings shame on his mother.	15 Verga e correzione dànno la sapienza; l'uomo lasciato a se stesso disonora sua madre.
16 When the wicked are on the increase, sin multiplies, but the upright wil witness their downfal .	16 Quando dominano gli empi la colpa si moltiplica; ma i giusti assisteranno alla loro rovina.
17 Correct your child, and he wil give you peace of mind; he will delight your soul.	17 Correggi tuo figlio e ti darà conforto; procurerà delizie alla tua anima.
18 Where there is no vision the people get out of hand; happy are they who keep the law.	18 Quando non c'è visione il popolo si sfrena; ma chi osserva la legge è felice.
19 Not by words is a slave corrected: even if he understands, he will take no notice.	19 Con i discorsi non si corregge un servo; egli comprende, ma non obbedisce.
20 You see someone too ready of speech? There is more to be hoped for from a fool!	20 Tu vedi un uomo svelto con le chiacchiere? C'è più speranza in uno stolto che in costui!
21 If a slave is pampered from childhood, he wil prove ungrateful in the end.	21 Chi tratta mollemente il suo servo dall'infanzia, alla fine costui diventerà insolente.
22 The hot-head provokes disputes, someone in a rage commits al sorts of sins.	22 L'uomo collerico suscita le liti e l'uomo passionale moltiplica i peccati.
23 Pride brings humiliation, whoever humbles himself will win honour.	23 L'orgoglio dell'uomo gli procura umiliazione e l'umile di spirito avrà l'onore.
24 To hear the curse and disclose nothing is to share with the thief and to hate oneself.	24 Fa le parti con il ladro e odia la sua anima chi sente la maledizione e non denunzia nulla.
25 To be afraid of human beings is a snare, whoever trusts in Yahweh is secure.	25 La paura dell'uomo ti crea un laccio; chi confida nel Signore è al sicuro.
26 Many people seek a ruler's favour, but the rights of each come from Yahweh.	26 Molti cercano i favori del capo, ma viene dal Signore la sorte di ciascuno.
27 Abhorrent to the upright is the sinful, abhorrent to the wicked is one whose way is straight.	27 Obbrobrio per i giusti è l'uomo empio; obbrobrio per l'empio è chi agisce rettamente.
