1 Whoever is stiff-necked under reproof wil be suddenly and irremediably broken.	1 ALL' uomo di dura cervice, che di sprezza chi lo corregge, sopravverrà repentina la perdizione, e non vi sarà rimedio per lui.
2 When the upright are on the increase, the people rejoice; when the wicked are in power, the peoplegroan.	2 La moltiplicazione da' giusti sarà la letizia del popolo: quando gli empj prenderan le redini del principato, il popolo avrà da gemere.
3 The lover of Wisdom makes his father glad, but the patron of prostitutes fritters his wealth away.	3 Colui che ama la sapienza, da consolazione al padre suo: ma colui che pasce le meretrici dissiperà le sue sostanze.
4 A king gives a country stability by justice, an extortioner brings it to ruin.	4 Il re giusto felicita lo stato; l'uomo avaro il distrugge.
5 Whoever flatters his companion spreads a net for his feet.	5 L'uomo che tiene un linguaggio finto, e di adulazione col suo amico, tende una rete a' suoi piedi.
6 In the sin of the wicked lies a snare, but the upright exults and rejoices.	6 L'uom peccatore, e iniquo cadrà al laccio: e il giusto canterà, e farà festa.
7 The upright understands the cause of the weak, the wicked has not the wit to understand it.	7 Il giusto ha a cuore la causa de' poveri: l'empio non se n' informa.
8 Scoffers set a city in ferment, but the wise moderate anger.	8 Gli uomini malvaggi son la rovina della città: i sapienti la salvano dall'ira.
9 Let someone wise argue with a fool, anger and good humour alike wil be wasted.	9 L'uomo sapiente se viene a contesa collo stolto, o vada in collera, o rida, non avrà pace.
10 The bloodthirsty hate the honest, but the upright seek them out.	10 Gli uomini sanguinati odiano l'uomo semplice, ma i giusti cercano di salvarlo.
11 The fool blurts out every angry feeling, but the wise subdues and restrains them.	11 Lo stolto mette fuora tutto il suo spirito: il saggio va adagio, e si serba qualche cosa pell'avvenire.
12 When a ruler listens to false reports, al his ministers wil be scoundrels.	12 Il principe che ascolta volentieri le menzogne, non ha se non empj ministri.
13 Poor and oppressor are found together, Yahweh gives light to the eyes of both.	13 Il povero, e il suo creditore si vanno incontro l'uno all'altro: ad ambedue ha data la luce il Signore.
14 The king who judges the weak with equity sees his throne set firm for ever.	14 Se il re fa giustizia a poveri se condo la verità, il suo trono sarà stabile in eterno.
15 The stick and the reprimand bestow wisdom, a young man left to himself brings shame on his mother.	15 La verga, e la correzione danno saggezza; ma il fanciullo abbandonato a' suoi voleri è di rossore a sua madre.
16 When the wicked are on the increase, sin multiplies, but the upright wil witness their downfal .	16 Saran moltipllcate le scelleraggini colla moltiplicazione degli empj: e i giusti vedranno le loro rovine.
17 Correct your child, and he wil give you peace of mind; he will delight your soul.	17 Istruisci il tuo figliuolo, ed egli ti recherà consolazione, e sarà la delizia dell'anima tua.
18 Where there is no vision the people get out of hand; happy are they who keep the law.	18 Quando la profezia verrà meno, il popolo sarà dissipato; ma colui che custodisce la legge, è beato.
19 Not by words is a slave corrected: even if he understands, he will take no notice.	19 A istruire un animo servile non bastano le parole: perocché egli intende quello, che tu dici, ma non si degna di rispondere.
20 You see someone too ready of speech? There is more to be hoped for from a fool!	20 Hai tu veduto un uomo, che corre a furia a parlare? Si può sperare, che si corregga la stoltezza piuttosto che egli.
21 If a slave is pampered from childhood, he wil prove ungrateful in the end.	21 Chi dilicatamente nutrisce il suo servo fin dall'infanzia, lo proverà poi contumace.
22 The hot-head provokes disputes, someone in a rage commits al sorts of sins.	22 L'uomo iracondo attizza risse, e chi è facile a dare in escandescenze sarà più proclive a peccare.
23 Pride brings humiliation, whoever humbles himself will win honour.	23 L'umiliazione va dietro al superbo, la gloria abbraccerà l'umile di spinto.
24 To hear the curse and disclose nothing is to share with the thief and to hate oneself.	24 Chi fa società col ladro, odia l'anima sua: sente chi gli da il giuramento, e non confessa.
25 To be afraid of human beings is a snare, whoever trusts in Yahweh is secure.	25 Chi ha timore dell'uomo caderà ben presto: chi spera nel Signore sarà esaltato.
26 Many people seek a ruler's favour, but the rights of each come from Yahweh.	26 Molti cercano il favore del principe: ma dal Signore dee venire il giudizio di ciascheduno.
27 Abhorrent to the upright is the sinful, abhorrent to the wicked is one whose way is straight.	27 I giusti hanno in abbominazione gli empj, e gli empj hanno in abominazione quelli, che sono nella buona strada. Il fanciullo, che tien conto di questa parola, sarà sicuro dalla perdizione.
