1 Whoever is stiff-necked under reproof wil be suddenly and irremediably broken.	1 - All'uomo caparbio che ostinatamente disprezza chi lo corregge, sopravverrà improvvisa ruina e senza ulteriore rimedio.
2 When the upright are on the increase, the people rejoice; when the wicked are in power, the peoplegroan.	2 Al moltiplicarsi dei giusti la gente godràe quando gli empi saliranno al potere, il popolo gemerà.
3 The lover of Wisdom makes his father glad, but the patron of prostitutes fritters his wealth away.	3 L'uomo che ama la sapienza rallegra suo padre, e chi mantiene le meretrici dissipa le sue sostanze.
4 A king gives a country stability by justice, an extortioner brings it to ruin.	4 Un re giusto consolida lo stato e un uomo avaro lo manda in rovina.
5 Whoever flatters his companion spreads a net for his feet.	5 L'uomo che usa parole finte e adulatrici coll'amico, tende una rete ai suoi passi.
6 In the sin of the wicked lies a snare, but the upright exults and rejoices.	6 L'uomo iniquo che pecca cadrà in un laccio, ma il giusto canterà e godrà.
7 The upright understands the cause of the weak, the wicked has not the wit to understand it.	7 Il giusto prende a cuore la causa dei poveri, l'empio non sa considerare.
8 Scoffers set a city in ferment, but the wise moderate anger.	8 Gli uomini beffardi mettono in subbuglio la cittàe i saggi ne calmano il furore.
9 Let someone wise argue with a fool, anger and good humour alike wil be wasted.	9 L'uomo sapiente se viene a contesa con lo stolto, sia che s'adiri o che rida, non troverà quiete.
10 The bloodthirsty hate the honest, but the upright seek them out.	10 Gli uomini sanguinari odiano il semplice, e i giusti cercano l'anima di lui.
11 The fool blurts out every angry feeling, but the wise subdues and restrains them.	11 Lo stolto esala tutta la sua animosità, il saggio differisce e si riserva per poi.
12 When a ruler listens to false reports, al his ministers wil be scoundrels.	12 Un principe che ascolti volentieri le parole della menzogna, ha tutti i suoi ministri malvagi.
13 Poor and oppressor are found together, Yahweh gives light to the eyes of both.	13 Il povero ed il creditore si sono incontrati, chi somministra il lume ad ambedue è il Signore.
14 The king who judges the weak with equity sees his throne set firm for ever.	14 Un re che giudica con verità i poveriavrà il suo trono stabile in eterno.
15 The stick and the reprimand bestow wisdom, a young man left to himself brings shame on his mother.	15 La verga e la correzione danno sapienza e un fanciullo abbandonato a se stesso, fa vergogna a sua madre.
16 When the wicked are on the increase, sin multiplies, but the upright wil witness their downfal .	16 Col moltiplicarsi degli empi moltiplicano i delitti, ma i giusti vedranno la loro caduta.
17 Correct your child, and he wil give you peace of mind; he will delight your soul.	17 Educa il tuo figlio e ti darà conforto, e ti procaccerà delizie all'anima.
18 Where there is no vision the people get out of hand; happy are they who keep the law.	18 Quando verrà meno la parola ispirata il popolo andrà in rovina, ma chi osserva le leggi, beato lui!
19 Not by words is a slave corrected: even if he understands, he will take no notice.	19 Il servo a sole parole non si correggeperchè intende quel che dici, ma di corrispondere non se ne cura.
20 You see someone too ready of speech? There is more to be hoped for from a fool!	20 Hai visto un uomo veloce a parlare? Stoltezza c'è più da aspettarsi da costui, che emendazione.
21 If a slave is pampered from childhood, he wil prove ungrateful in the end.	21 Chi alleva delicatamente il suo servo dalla fanciullezzalo proverà poi contumace.
22 The hot-head provokes disputes, someone in a rage commits al sorts of sins.	22 L'uomo collerico attizza le contese e chi è facile al risentimento è più proclive al peccato.
23 Pride brings humiliation, whoever humbles himself will win honour.	23 L'umiliazione tien dietro al superbo e la gloria andrà incontro all'umile.
24 To hear the curse and disclose nothing is to share with the thief and to hate oneself.	24 Chi spartisce col ladro, odia l'anima sua, ode l'imprecazione e non denuncia [il ladro].
25 To be afraid of human beings is a snare, whoever trusts in Yahweh is secure.	25 Chi ha timore dell'uomo presto cadrà, e chi spera nel Signore sarà esaltato.
26 Many people seek a ruler's favour, but the rights of each come from Yahweh.	26 Molti cercano il favore del principe, ma dal Signore esce il giudizio su ciascuno.
27 Abhorrent to the upright is the sinful, abhorrent to the wicked is one whose way is straight.	27 I giusti hanno in orrore l'uomo empio, e gli empi detestano quelli che sono sulla retta via. Il figlio che fa tesoro della parola, sarà incolume dalla perdizione.
