1 Whoever is stiff-necked under reproof wil be suddenly and irremediably broken.	1 L’uomo, il quale, essendo spesso ripreso, indura il suo collo, Di subito sarà fiaccato, senza rimedio
2 When the upright are on the increase, the people rejoice; when the wicked are in power, the peoplegroan.	2 Quando i giusti sono aggranditi, il popolo si rallegra; Ma quando gli empi signoreggiano, il popolo geme
3 The lover of Wisdom makes his father glad, but the patron of prostitutes fritters his wealth away.	3 L’uomo, che ama sapienza, rallegra suo padre; Ma il compagno delle meretrici dissipa i suoi beni
4 A king gives a country stability by justice, an extortioner brings it to ruin.	4 Il re mantiene il paese con dirittura; Ma chi è dato a’ presenti lo distrugge
5 Whoever flatters his companion spreads a net for his feet.	5 L’uomo che lusinga il suo prossimo, Tende una rete davanti a’ passi di esso
6 In the sin of the wicked lies a snare, but the upright exults and rejoices.	6 Nel misfatto dell’uomo malvagio vi è un laccio; Ma il giusto canterà, e si rallegrerà
7 The upright understands the cause of the weak, the wicked has not the wit to understand it.	7 Il giusto prende conoscenza della causa de’ miseri; Ma l’empio non intende alcun conoscimento
8 Scoffers set a city in ferment, but the wise moderate anger.	8 Gli uomini schernitori allacciano la città; Ma i savi stornano l’ira
9 Let someone wise argue with a fool, anger and good humour alike wil be wasted.	9 L’uomo savio che litiga con un uomo stolto, Or si adira, or ride, e non ha alcuna requie
10 The bloodthirsty hate the honest, but the upright seek them out.	10 Gli uomini di sangue odiano l’uomo intiero; Ma gli uomini diritti hanno cura della vita di esso
11 The fool blurts out every angry feeling, but the wise subdues and restrains them.	11 Lo stolto sfoga tutta la sua ira; Ma il savio la racqueta e la rattiene indietro
12 When a ruler listens to false reports, al his ministers wil be scoundrels.	12 Tutti i ministri del principe, Che attende a parole di menzogna, sono empi
13 Poor and oppressor are found together, Yahweh gives light to the eyes of both.	13 Il povero e l’usuraio si scontrano l’un l’altro; Il Signore è quello che allumina gli occhi di amendue
14 The king who judges the weak with equity sees his throne set firm for ever.	14 Il trono del re, che fa ragione a’ miseri in verità, Sarà stabilito in perpetuo
15 The stick and the reprimand bestow wisdom, a young man left to himself brings shame on his mother.	15 La verga e la correzione dànno sapienza; Ma il fanciullo lasciato in abbandono fa vergogna a sua madre
16 When the wicked are on the increase, sin multiplies, but the upright wil witness their downfal .	16 Quando gli empi crescono, cresce il misfatto; Ma i giusti vedranno la ruina di quelli
17 Correct your child, and he wil give you peace of mind; he will delight your soul.	17 Gastiga il tuo figliuolo, e tu ne sarai in riposo; Ed egli darà di gran diletti all’anima tua
18 Where there is no vision the people get out of hand; happy are they who keep the law.	18 Quando non vi è visione, il popolo è dissipato; Ma beato chi guarda la Legge
19 Not by words is a slave corrected: even if he understands, he will take no notice.	19 Il servo non si corregge con parole; Benchè intenda, non però risponderà
20 You see someone too ready of speech? There is more to be hoped for from a fool!	20 Hai tu mai veduto un uomo precipitoso nel suo parlare? Vi è maggiore speranza d’uno stolto che di lui
21 If a slave is pampered from childhood, he wil prove ungrateful in the end.	21 Se alcuno alleva delicatamente da fanciullo il suo servo, Quello sarà figliuolo alla fine
22 The hot-head provokes disputes, someone in a rage commits al sorts of sins.	22 L’uomo iracondo muove contese, E l’uomo collerico commette molti misfatti
23 Pride brings humiliation, whoever humbles himself will win honour.	23 L’alterezza dell’uomo l’abbassa; Ma chi è umile di spirito otterrà gloria
24 To hear the curse and disclose nothing is to share with the thief and to hate oneself.	24 Chi partisce col ladro odia l’anima sua; Egli udirà l’esecrazione, e non però manifesterà il fatto
25 To be afraid of human beings is a snare, whoever trusts in Yahweh is secure.	25 Lo spavento dell’uomo gli mette un laccio; Ma chi si confida nel Signore sarà levato ad alto in salvo
26 Many people seek a ruler's favour, but the rights of each come from Yahweh.	26 Molti cercano la faccia di colui che signoreggia; Ma dal Signore procede il giudicio di ciascuno
27 Abhorrent to the upright is the sinful, abhorrent to the wicked is one whose way is straight.	27 L’uomo iniquo è l’abbominio de’ giusti; E l’uomo che cammina dirittamente è l’abbominio dell’empio
