Proverbs 29

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 Whoever is stiff-necked under reproof wil be suddenly and irremediably broken.	1 El hombre que, reprendido, endurece la cerviz, será pronto deshecho y sin remedio.
2 When the upright are on the increase, the people rejoice; when the wicked are in power, the peoplegroan.	2 Cuando los justos se multiplican, el pueblo se alegra, cuando dominan los malos, el pueblo gime.
3 The lover of Wisdom makes his father glad, but the patron of prostitutes fritters his wealth away.	3 El que ama la sabiduría, da alegría a su padre, el que anda con prostitutas, disipa su fortuna.
4 A king gives a country stability by justice, an extortioner brings it to ruin.	4 El rey, con la equidad, mantiene el país, el hombre exactor lo arruina.
5 Whoever flatters his companion spreads a net for his feet.	5 El hombre que adula a su prójimo pone una red bajo sus pasos.
6 In the sin of the wicked lies a snare, but the upright exults and rejoices.	6 En el pecado del malo hay una trampa, pero el justo se regocija y alegra.
7 The upright understands the cause of the weak, the wicked has not the wit to understand it.	7 El justo conoce la causa de los débiles, el malo no tiene inteligencia para conocerla.
8 Scoffers set a city in ferment, but the wise moderate anger.	8 Los arrogantes turban la ciudad, los sabios alejan la cólera.
9 Let someone wise argue with a fool, anger and good humour alike wil be wasted.	9 Cuando el sabio tiene un pleito con el necio, ya se exaspere o se ría, no logrará sosiego.
10 The bloodthirsty hate the honest, but the upright seek them out.	10 Los hombres sanguinarios odian al intachable, los rectos van en busca de su persona.
11 The fool blurts out every angry feeling, but the wise subdues and restrains them.	11 El necio da salida a toda su pasión; el sabio la reprime y apacigua.
12 When a ruler listens to false reports, al his ministers wil be scoundrels.	12 Si un jefe hace caso de las palabras mentirosas, todos sus servidores serán malos.
13 Poor and oppressor are found together, Yahweh gives light to the eyes of both.	13 El pobre y el opresor se encuentran, Yahveh da la luz a los ojos de ambos.
14 The king who judges the weak with equity sees his throne set firm for ever.	14 El rey que juzga con verdad a los débiles, asegura su trono para siempre.
15 The stick and the reprimand bestow wisdom, a young man left to himself brings shame on his mother.	15 Vara y reprensión dan sabiduría, muchacho dejado a sí mismo, avergüenza a su madre.
16 When the wicked are on the increase, sin multiplies, but the upright wil witness their downfal .	16 Cuando se multiplican los malos, se multiplican los delitos, pero los justos contemplarán su caída.
17 Correct your child, and he wil give you peace of mind; he will delight your soul.	17 Corrige a tu hijo y te dejará tranquilo; y hará las delicias de tu alma.
18 Where there is no vision the people get out of hand; happy are they who keep the law.	18 Cuando no hay visiones, el pueblo se relaja, pero el que guarda la ley es dichoso.
19 Not by words is a slave corrected: even if he understands, he will take no notice.	19 No se corrige a un siervo con palabras, porque aunque las entienda, no las cumple.
20 You see someone too ready of speech? There is more to be hoped for from a fool!	20 ¿Has visto un hombre dispuesto siempre a hablar? más se puede esperar de un necio que de él.
21 If a slave is pampered from childhood, he wil prove ungrateful in the end.	21 Si se mima a un esclavo desde niño, al final será un ingrato.
22 The hot-head provokes disputes, someone in a rage commits al sorts of sins.	22 El hombre violento provoca querellas, el hombre airado multiplica los delitos.
23 Pride brings humiliation, whoever humbles himself will win honour.	23 El orgullo del pobre lo humillará; el humilde de espíritu obtendrá honores.
24 To hear the curse and disclose nothing is to share with the thief and to hate oneself.	24 El que reparte con ladrón se odia a sí mismo, oye la imprecación, pero no revela nada.
25 To be afraid of human beings is a snare, whoever trusts in Yahweh is secure.	25 Temblar ante los hombres es un lazo; el que confía en Yahveh está seguro.
26 Many people seek a ruler's favour, but the rights of each come from Yahweh.	26 Son muchos los que buscan el favor del jefe, pero es Yahveh el que juzga a cada uno.
27 Abhorrent to the upright is the sinful, abhorrent to the wicked is one whose way is straight.	27 Abominación para los justos es el hombre inicuo abominación para el malo el de recto camino.
