¹ You who live in the secret place of Elyon, spend your nights in the shelter of Shaddai,	¹ - Salmo-cantico. Per il giorno di sabbato.
² saying to Yahweh, 'My refuge, my fortress, my God in whom I trust!'	² Bello è dar lode al Signore, e inneggiare al tuo nome, o Altissimo,
³ He rescues you from the snare of the fowler set on destruction;	³ per proclamare al mattino la tua misericordiae la tua fedeltà la notte,
⁴ he covers you with his pinions, you find shelter under his wings. His constancy is shield andprotection.	⁴ sulla lira a dieci corde [e] sull'arpa con un cantico sulla cetra.
⁵ You need not fear the terrors of night, the arrow that flies in the daytime,	⁵ Perchè tu m'allieti, o Signore, con l'azione tua, e per le opere delle tue mani esulto.
⁶ the plague that stalks in the darkness, the scourge that wreaks havoc at high noon.	⁶ Quanto magnifiche son le tue opere, o Signore!profondissimi sono i tuoi consigli.
⁷ Though a thousand fal at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, you yourself wil remainunscathed.	⁷ L'insipiente non capisce e lo stolto non intende queste cose.
⁸ You have only to keep your eyes open to see how the wicked are repaid,	⁸ Quando gli empi spuntan su come l'erba, e fioriscon tutti quei che operano l'iniquità, [gli è] perchè periscano [poi] ne' secoli de' secoli.
⁹ you who say, 'Yahweh my refuge!' and make Elyon your fortress.	⁹ Ma eccelso tu [resti] in eterno, o Signore!
¹⁰ No disaster can overtake you, no plague come near your tent;	¹⁰ Perchè ecco che i tuoi nemici, o Signore, ecco che i tuoi nemici periranno, e saran dispersi tutti quei che operan l'iniquità.
¹¹ he has given his angels orders about you to guard you wherever you go.	¹¹ Ma sarà esaltato come [corno] di bufalo il corno mioe la mia vecchiaia [sarà ricolma] di grazia abbondante.
¹² They will carry you in their arms in case you trip over a stone.	¹² E [soddisfatto] si poserà il mio occhio sui miei nemici.e de' miei maligni aggressori udrà [parlare] il mio orecchio.
¹³ You wil walk upon wild beast and adder, you wil trample young lions and snakes.	¹³ Il giusto fiorirà come palma, crescerà come il cedro del Libano.
¹⁴ 'Since he clings to me I rescue him, I raise him high, since he acknowledges my name.	¹⁴ piantati nella casa del Signore, negli atri della casa del nostro Dio fioriranno.
¹⁵ He cal s to me and I answer him: in distress I am at his side, I rescue him and bring him honour.	¹⁵ Fruttificheranno ancora nella vecchiaia, rigogliosi e verdeggianti saranno,
¹⁶ I shal satisfy him with long life, and grant him to see my salvation.'	¹⁶ per annunziare che retto è il Signore, Iddio nostro, e non v'è iniquità in lui.
