NEW JERUSALEMNOVA VULGATA
1 You who live in the secret place of Elyon, spend your nights in the shelter of Shaddai,1 Qui habitat in protectione Altissimi,
sub umbra Omnipotentis commorabitur.
2 saying to Yahweh, 'My refuge, my fortress, my God in whom I trust!'2 Dicet Domino: “ Refugium meum
et fortitudo mea, Deus meus, sperabo in eum ”.
3 He rescues you from the snare of the fowler set on destruction;3 Quoniam ipse liberabit te de laqueo venantium
et a verbo maligno.
4 he covers you with his pinions, you find shelter under his wings. His constancy is shield andprotection.4 Alis suis obumbrabit tibi,
et sub pennas eius confugies;
scutum et lorica veritas eius.
5 You need not fear the terrors of night, the arrow that flies in the daytime,5 Non timebis a timore nocturno,
a sagitta volante in die,
6 the plague that stalks in the darkness, the scourge that wreaks havoc at high noon.6 a peste perambulante in tenebris,
ab exterminio vastante in meridie.
7 Though a thousand fal at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, you yourself wil remainunscathed.7 Cadent a latere tuo mille
et decem milia a dextris tuis;
ad te autem non appropinquabit.
8 You have only to keep your eyes open to see how the wicked are repaid,8 Verumtamen oculis tuis considerabis
et retributionem peccatorum videbis.
9 you who say, 'Yahweh my refuge!' and make Elyon your fortress.9 Quoniam tu es, Domine, refugium meum.
Altissimum posuisti habitaculum tuum.
10 No disaster can overtake you, no plague come near your tent;10 Non accedet ad te malum,
et flagellum non appropinquabit tabernaculo tuo,
11 he has given his angels orders about you to guard you wherever you go.11 quoniam angelis suis mandabit de te,
ut custodiant te in omnibus viis tuis.
12 They will carry you in their arms in case you trip over a stone.12 In manibus portabunt te,
ne forte offendas ad lapidem pedem tuum.
13 You wil walk upon wild beast and adder, you wil trample young lions and snakes.13 Super aspidem et basiliscum ambulabis
et conculcabis leonem et draconem.
14 'Since he clings to me I rescue him, I raise him high, since he acknowledges my name.14 Quoniam mihi adhaesit, liberabo eum;
suscipiam eum, quoniam cognovit nomen meum.
15 He cal s to me and I answer him: in distress I am at his side, I rescue him and bring him honour.15 Clamabit ad me, et ego exaudiam eum;
cum ipso sum in tribulatione;
eripiam eum et glorificabo eum.
16 I shal satisfy him with long life, and grant him to see my salvation.'16 Longitudine dierum replebo eum
et ostendam illi salutare meum.
