1 [For the choirmaster On the . . . of Gath Psalm Of David] Yahweh our Lord, how majestic is your namethroughout the world! Whoever keeps singing of your majesty higher than the heavens,	1 [Für den Chormeister. Nach dem Kelterlied. Ein Psalm Davids.]
2 even through the mouths of children, or of babes in arms, you make him a fortress, firm against yourfoes, to subdue the enemy and the rebel.	2 Herr, unser Herrscher, wie gewaltig ist dein Name auf der ganzen Erde; über den Himmel breitest du deine Hoheit aus.
3 I look up at your heavens, shaped by your fingers, at the moon and the stars you set firm-	3 Aus dem Mund der Kinder und Säuglinge schaffst du dir Lob, deinen Gegnern zum Trotz; deine Feinde und Widersacher müssen verstummen.
4 what are human beings that you spare a thought for them, or the child of Adam that you care for him?	4 Seh ich den Himmel, das Werk deiner Finger, Mond und Sterne, die du befestigt:
5 Yet you have made him little less than a god, you have crowned him with glory and beauty,	5 Was ist der Mensch, dass du an ihn denkst, des Menschen Kind, dass du dich seiner annimmst?
6 made him lord of the works of your hands, put al things under his feet,	6 Du hast ihn nur wenig geringer gemacht als Gott, hast ihn mit Herrlichkeit und Ehre gekrönt.
7 sheep and cattle, all of them, and even the wild beasts,	7 Du hast ihn als Herrscher eingesetzt über das Werk deiner Hände, hast ihm alles zu Füßen gelegt:
8 birds in the sky, fish in the sea, when he makes his way across the ocean.	8 All die Schafe, Ziegen und Rinder und auch die wilden Tiere,
9 Yahweh our Lord, how majestic your name throughout the world!	9 die Vögel des Himmels und die Fische im Meer, alles, was auf den Pfaden der Meere dahinzieht.
	10 Herr, unser Herrscher, wie gewaltig ist dein Name auf der ganzen Erde!
