[Psalm Of David When he was in the desert of Judah] God, you are my God, I pine for you; my heartthirsts for you, my body longs for you, as a land parched, dreary and waterless. | 1 A psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah. |
Thus I have gazed on you in the sanctuary, seeing your power and your glory. | 2 O God, you are my God-- for you I long! For you my body yearns; for you my soul thirsts, Like a land parched, lifeless, and without water. |
Better your faithful love than life itself; my lips wil praise you. | 3 So I look to you in the sanctuary to see your power and glory. |
Thus I will bless you al my life, in your name lift up my hands. | 4 For your love is better than life; my lips offer you worship! |
Al my longings fulfil ed as with fat and rich foods, a song of joy on my lips and praise in my mouth. | 5 I will bless you as long as I live; I will lift up my hands, calling on your name. |
On my bed when I think of you, I muse on you in the watches of the night, | 6 My soul shall savor the rich banquet of praise, with joyous lips my mouth shall honor you! |
for you have always been my help; in the shadow of your wings I rejoice; | 7 When I think of you upon my bed, through the night watches I will recall |
my heart clings to you, your right hand supports me. | 8 That you indeed are my help, and in the shadow of your wings I shout for joy. |
May those who are hounding me to death go down to the depths of the earth, | 9 My soul clings fast to you; your right hand upholds me. |
given over to the blade of the sword, and left as food for jackals. | 10 But those who seek my life will come to ruin; they shall go down to the depths of the earth! |
Then the king shall rejoice in God, al who swear by him shal gain recognition, for the mouths of liarsshall be silenced. | 11 They shall be handed over to the sword and become the prey of jackals! |
But the king shall rejoice in God; all who swear by the Lord shall exult, for the mouths of liars will be shut! |
