[Psalm Of David When he was in the desert of Judah] God, you are my God, I pine for you; my heartthirsts for you, my body longs for you, as a land parched, dreary and waterless. | 1 A psalm of David when he was in the desert of Edom. |
Thus I have gazed on you in the sanctuary, seeing your power and your glory. | 2 O God, my God, to thee do I watch at break of day. For thee my soul hath thirsted; for thee my flesh, O how many ways! |
Better your faithful love than life itself; my lips wil praise you. | 3 In a desert land, and where there is no way, and no water: so in the sanctuary have I come before thee, to see thy power and thy glory. |
Thus I will bless you al my life, in your name lift up my hands. | 4 For thy mercy is better than lives: thee my lips shall praise. |
Al my longings fulfil ed as with fat and rich foods, a song of joy on my lips and praise in my mouth. | 5 Thus will I bless thee all my life long: and in thy name I will lift up my hands. |
On my bed when I think of you, I muse on you in the watches of the night, | 6 Let my soul be filled as with marrow and fatness: and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips. |
for you have always been my help; in the shadow of your wings I rejoice; | 7 If I have remembered thee upon my bed, I will meditate on thee in the morning: |
my heart clings to you, your right hand supports me. | 8 because thou hast been my helper. And I will rejoice under the covert of thy wings: |
May those who are hounding me to death go down to the depths of the earth, | 9 my soul hath stuck close to thee: thy right hand hath received me. |
given over to the blade of the sword, and left as food for jackals. | 10 But they have sought my soul in vain, they shall go into the lower parts of the earth: |
Then the king shall rejoice in God, al who swear by him shal gain recognition, for the mouths of liarsshall be silenced. | 11 They shall be delivered into the hands of the sword, they shall be the portions of foxes. |
But the king shall rejoice in God, all they shall be praised that swear by him: because the mouth is stopped of them that speak wicked things. |
