1 [Of David] Accuse my accusers, Yahweh, attack my attackers.	1 Di Davide.Signore, accusa chi mi accusa,combatti chi mi combatte.
2 Grasp your buckler and shield, up, and help me.	2 Afferra scudo e corazzae sorgi in mio aiuto.
3 Brandish spear and pike to confront my pursuers, give me the assurance, 'I am your Saviour.'	3 Impugna lancia e scure contro chi mi insegue;dimmi: «Sono io la tua salvezza».
4 Shame and humiliation on those who are out to kil me! Defeat and repulse in dismay on those whoplot my downfal .	4 Siano svergognati e confusiquanti attentano alla mia vita;retrocedano e siano umiliatiquanti tramano la mia sventura.
5 May they be like chaff before the wind, with the angel of Yahweh to chase them.	5 Siano come pula al ventoe l’angelo del Signore li disperda;
6 May their way be dark and slippery, with the angel of Yahweh to hound them.	6 la loro strada sia buia e scivolosaquando l’angelo del Signore li insegue.
7 Unprovoked they laid their snare for me, unprovoked dug a trap to kill me.	7 Poiché senza motivo mi hanno teso una rete,senza motivo mi hanno scavato una fossa.
8 Ruin comes upon them unawares; the snare they have laid wil catch them, and into their own trapthey will fal .	8 Li colga una rovina improvvisa,li catturi la rete che hanno tesoe nella rovina siano travolti.
9 Then I shal delight in Yahweh, rejoice that he has saved me.	9 Ma l’anima mia esulterà nel Signoree gioirà per la sua salvezza.
10 My very bones wil al exclaim, Yahweh, who can compare with you in rescuing the poor from theoppressor; the needy from the exploiter?	10 Tutte le mie ossa dicano:«Chi è come te, Signore,che liberi il povero dal più forte,il povero e il misero da chi li rapina?».
11 False witnesses come forward against me asking me questions I cannot answer, they cross-examineme,	11 Sorgevano testimoni violenti,mi interrogavano su ciò che ignoravo,
12 repay my kindness with cruelty, make my life barren.	12 mi rendevano male per bene:una desolazione per l’anima mia.
13 But I, when they were il , had worn sackcloth, and mortified myself with fasting, praying ever anew inmy heart,	13 Ma io, quand’erano malati, vestivo di sacco,mi affliggevo col digiuno,la mia preghiera riecheggiava nel mio petto.
14 as if for a friend or brother; I had wandered restless, as if mourning a mother, so bowed had I been insorrow.	14 Accorrevo come per un amico, come per un mio fratello,mi prostravo nel dolore come in lutto per la madre.
15 When I stumble they gather in glee, gather around me; strangers I never even knew tear me apartincessantly.	15 Ma essi godono della mia caduta, si radunano,si radunano contro di me per colpirmi di sorpresa.Mi dilaniano di continuo,
16 If I fal they surround me, grinding their teeth at me.	16 mi mettono alla prova, mi coprono di scherni;contro di me digrignano i loro denti.
17 How much longer, Lord, will you look on? Rescue me from their onslaughts, from young lions rescuethe one life that I have.	17 Fino a quando, Signore, starai a guardare?Libera la mia vita dalla loro violenza,dalle zanne dei leoni l’unico mio bene.
18 I wil give you thanks in the great assembly praise you where the people gather.	18 Ti renderò grazie nella grande assemblea,ti loderò in mezzo a un popolo numeroso.
19 Let not my lying enemies gloat over me; those who hate me unprovoked look askance at me.	19 Non esultino su di me i nemici bugiardi,non strizzino l’occhio quelli che, senza motivo, mi odiano.
20 They have no greeting of peace to the peace-loving people of the land; they think up deceptivespeeches.	20 Poiché essi non parlano di pace;contro gente pacifica tramano inganni.
21 Their mouths wide open to accuse me, they say, 'Come on now, we saw you.'	21 Spalancano contro di me la loro bocca;dicono: «Bene! I nostri occhi hanno visto!».
22 You saw it, Yahweh, do not stay silent; Lord, do not stand aloof from me.	22 Signore, tu hai visto, non tacere;Signore, da me non stare lontano.
23 Up, awake, to my defence, my God and my Lord, to my cause.	23 Déstati, svégliati per il mio giudizio,per la mia causa, mio Dio e Signore!
24 In your saving justice give judgement for me, Yahweh my God, and do not let them gloat over me.	24 Giudicami secondo la tua giustizia, Signore, mio Dio,perché di me non debbano gioire.
25 Do not let them think, 'Just as we hoped,' nor, 'Now we have swal owed him up.'	25 Non pensino in cuor loro: «È ciò che volevamo!».Non dicano: «Lo abbiamo divorato!».
26 Shame and dismay on them al who gloat over my misfortunes. Let al who profit at my expense becovered with shame and disgrace.	26 Sia svergognato e confuso chi gode della mia rovina,sia coperto di vergogna e disonore chi mi insulta.
27 But let al who delight in my uprightness shout for joy and gladness; let them constantly say, 'Great isYahweh, who delights to see his servant in peace.'	27 Esulti e gioisca chi ama il mio diritto,dica sempre: «Grande è il Signore,che vuole la pace del suo servo».
28 And my tongue shal recount your saving justice, al day long sing your praise.	28 La mia lingua mediterà la tua giustizia,canterà la tua lode per sempre.
