1 Chronicles 22

NEW JERUSALEM	NOVA VULGATA
1 David then said, 'This is to be the house of Yahweh God and this the altar of burnt offering for Israel.'	1 Dixitque David: “ Haec est domus Domini Dei, et hoc est altare holocausti pro Israel ”.
2 David then gave orders for al foreigners in Israel to be rounded up, and appointed quarrymen to cutdressed stone for building the house of God.	2 Et praecepit, ut congregarentur omnes advenae de terra Israel, et constituit ex eis latomos ad caedendos lapides et poliendos, ut aedificaretur domus Dei.
3 David also prepared great quantities of iron to make nails for the leaves of the doors and for theclamps, and more bronze than could be weighed,	3 Ferrum quoque plurimum ad clavos ianuarum et ad commissuras atque iuncturas praeparavit David et aeris pondus innumerabile.
4 as wel as innumerable cedar-wood logs, as the Sidonians and Tyrians had brought cedar logs toDavid in great quantities.	4 Ligna quoque cedrina non poterant aestimari, quae Sidonii et Tyrii deportaverant ad David.
5 David then said, 'My son Solomon is young and immature, and the house to be built for Yahweh mustbe superlatively fine, the most famous and splendid in any country. I shal now make the preparations for it.' Andso, before he died, David made ample preparations.	5 Et dixit David: “ Salomon filius meus puer parvulus est et tener; domus autem, quae aedificanda est Domino, talis esse debet, ut in cunctis regionibus nominetur et glorificetur. Praeparabo ergo ei necessaria ”. Et ob hanc causam ante mortem suam omnes paravit impensas.
6 He then summoned his son Solomon and commanded him to build a house for Yahweh, God of Israel.	6 Vocavitque Salomonem filium suum et praecepit ei, ut aedificaret domum Domino, Deo Israel;
7 'My son,' David said to Solomon, 'my heart was set on building a house for the name of Yahweh myGod.	7 dixitque David ad Salomonem: “ Fili mi, voluntatis meae fuit, ut aedificarem domum nomini Domini Dei mei,
8 But the word of Yahweh came to me, "You have shed much blood and fought great wars; it is not foryou to build a house for my name, since you have shed much blood in my sight on earth.	8 sed factus est ad me sermo Domini dicens: “Multum sanguinem effudisti et magna bella bellasti. Non poteris aedificare domum nomini meo, tanto effuso sanguine coram me.
9 Look, a son will be born to you. He will be a man of peace, and I shal give him peace from hisenemies on all sides; for Solomon is to be his name, and in his days I shal give Israel peace and tranquil ity.	9 Filius, qui nascetur tibi, erit vir quietissimus; faciam enim eum requiescere ab omnibus inimicis suis per circuitum et ob hanc causam Salomon vocabitur, et pacem et otium dabo in Israel cunctis diebus eius.
10 He must build a house for my name; he wil be my son and I shall be his father, and I shall make thethrone of his kingdom secure over Israel for ever."	10 Ipse aedificabit domum nomini meo, et ipse erit mihi in filium, et ego ero ei in patrem; firmaboque solium regni eius super Israel in aeternum”.
11 Now, my son, may Yahweh be with you and give you success in building a house for Yahweh yourGod, as he has promised about you.	11 Nunc ergo, fili mi, sit Dominus tecum; et prosperare et aedifica domum Domino Deo tuo, sicut locutus est de te.
12 And especial y, may Yahweh give you discretion and discernment, may he give you his orders forIsrael, so that you may observe the Law of Yahweh your God.	12 Tantum det tibi Dominus prudentiam et sensum, ut regere possis Israel et custodire legem Domini Dei tui;
13 Success wil be yours, only if you observe the statutes and ordinances which Yahweh gave Mosesas regulations for Israel. Be strong and stand fast, be fearless, be dauntless.	13 tunc enim proficere poteris, si custodieris mandata et iudicia, quae praecepit Dominus Moysi super Israel. Confortare et viriliter age; ne timeas neque paveas.
14 Now, poor as I am, I have set aside for the house of Yahweh a hundred thousand talents of gold, amil ion talents of silver and more bronze and iron than can be weighed, there being so much. I have alsoprovided timber and stone, to which you may add more.	14 Ecce ego in labore meo praeparavi impensas domus Domini: auri talenta centum milia et argenti mille milia talentorum, aeris vero et ferri non est pondus, vincitur enim numerus magnitudine. Ligna et lapides praeparavi; tu autem ad ea adicies.
15 Furthermore, you have a large number of workmen, quarrymen, masons, carpenters and al sorts ofcraftsmen for every kind of work,	15 Habes quoque plurimos artifices latomos et caementarios artificesque lignorum et omnium artium ad faciendum opus prudentissimos
16 while your gold and silver, bronze and iron wil be beyond reckoning. Set to work, then, and mayYahweh be with you!'	16 in auro et argento et aere et ferro, cuius non est numerus. Surge igitur et fac, et erit Dominus tecum ”.
17 David then commanded al the leaders of Israel to help his son Solomon.	17 Praecepit quoque David cunctis principibus Israel, ut adiuvarent Salomonem filium suum: “
18 'Has not Yahweh your God been with you and given you peace on al sides, having put theinhabitants of the country into my power and the country now having been subdued for Yahweh and his people?	18 Cernitis, inquiens, quod Dominus Deus vester vobiscum sit et dederit vobis requiem per circuitum et tradiderit habitatores terrae in manu vestra, et subiecta sit terra coram Domino et coram populo eius.
19 So now devote heart and soul to searching for Yahweh your God. Set to and build the sanctuary ofYahweh God, so that you can bring the ark of the covenant of Yahweh and the holy vessels of God into thehouse built for the name of Yahweh.'	19 Praebete igitur corda vestra et animas vestras, ut quaeratis Dominum Deum vestrum; et consurgite et aedificate sanctuarium Domini Dei, ut introducatur arca foederis Domini et vasa Deo consecrata in domum, quae aedificatur nomini Domini ”.
