1 David then said, 'This is to be the house of Yahweh God and this the altar of burnt offering for Israel.'	1 Éppen azért azt mondta Dávid: »Itt legyen az Isten háza és itt legyen az égő áldozati oltár Izrael számára.«
2 David then gave orders for al foreigners in Israel to be rounded up, and appointed quarrymen to cutdressed stone for building the house of God.	2 Ugyanazért megparancsolta, hogy gyűjtsenek egybe Izrael földjéről minden jövevényt, aztán kőfaragókat rendelt közülük, hogy köveket vágjanak s faragjanak az Isten házának felépítésére.
3 David also prepared great quantities of iron to make nails for the leaves of the doors and for theclamps, and more bronze than could be weighed,	3 Igen sok vasat is szerzett Dávid, az ajtók szegeire meg a kapcsokra és a foglalatokra, s töméntelen súlyú rezet.
4 as wel as innumerable cedar-wood logs, as the Sidonians and Tyrians had brought cedar logs toDavid in great quantities.	4 A cédrusfát, amelyet a szidoniak s a tírusziak szállítottak Dávidnak, meg sem lehetett számlálni.
5 David then said, 'My son Solomon is young and immature, and the house to be built for Yahweh mustbe superlatively fine, the most famous and splendid in any country. I shal now make the preparations for it.' Andso, before he died, David made ample preparations.	5 Azt mondta ugyanis Dávid: »Fiam, Salamon, még kicsiny és gyönge gyermek, a háznak pedig, amelyet az Úrnak akarok építtetni, olyannak kell lennie, hogy híres legyen az egész földön: előkészítem tehát neki azt, ami szükséges.« Éppen ezért elő is készített halála előtt minden anyagot.
6 He then summoned his son Solomon and commanded him to build a house for Yahweh, God of Israel.	6 Majd hivatta fiát, Salamont s meghagyta neki, hogy építsen házat az Úrnak, Izrael Istenének.
7 'My son,' David said to Solomon, 'my heart was set on building a house for the name of Yahweh myGod.	7 Azt mondta Dávid Salamonnak: »Fiam, én akartam házat építeni az Úr, az én Istenem nevének,
8 But the word of Yahweh came to me, "You have shed much blood and fought great wars; it is not foryou to build a house for my name, since you have shed much blood in my sight on earth.	8 de az Úr szózatot intézett hozzám: ‘Sok vért ontottál s igen sok háborút viseltél: nem építhetsz házat nevemnek, mert ennyi vért ontottál előttem.
9 Look, a son will be born to you. He will be a man of peace, and I shal give him peace from hisenemies on all sides; for Solomon is to be his name, and in his days I shal give Israel peace and tranquil ity.	9 Fiad, aki születni fog neked, a nyugalom embere lesz, mert nyugalmat adok neki körös-körül minden ellenségétől: s éppen azért fogják Békességesnek hívni, mert békességet s nyugalmat adok Izraelnek, az ő valamennyi napja alatt.
10 He must build a house for my name; he wil be my son and I shall be his father, and I shall make thethrone of his kingdom secure over Israel for ever."	10 Ő építsen házat nevemnek. Ő a fiam lesz és én az atyja leszek s megszilárdítom Izraelen való királysága trónját mindörökre.’
11 Now, my son, may Yahweh be with you and give you success in building a house for Yahweh yourGod, as he has promised about you.	11 Nos tehát, fiam, legyen az Úr veled, hogy sikerüljön házat építened az Úrnak, a te Istenednek, mint ahogy kijelentette rólad.
12 And especial y, may Yahweh give you discretion and discernment, may he give you his orders forIsrael, so that you may observe the Law of Yahweh your God.	12 Adjon neked az Úr okosságot és értelmet is, hogy tudd kormányozni Izraelt s megtartani az Úr, a te Istened törvényét,
13 Success wil be yours, only if you observe the statutes and ordinances which Yahweh gave Mosesas regulations for Israel. Be strong and stand fast, be fearless, be dauntless.	13 mert csak akkor fogsz boldogulni, ha megtartod azokat a parancsokat és rendeleteket, amelyre az Úr Mózes által Izraelt megtanította. Légy erős és járj el férfiasan, ne félj és ne rettegj!
14 Now, poor as I am, I have set aside for the house of Yahweh a hundred thousand talents of gold, amil ion talents of silver and more bronze and iron than can be weighed, there being so much. I have alsoprovided timber and stone, to which you may add more.	14 Íme, én szegénységemben elkészítettem az Úr házához szükséges dolgokat: százezer talentum aranyat, egymillió talentum ezüstöt, s réz és vas annyi van, hogy megmérni sem lehet, mert tömege meghaladja a számot, s fát és követ is készítettem mindarra, ami szükséges.
15 Furthermore, you have a large number of workmen, quarrymen, masons, carpenters and al sorts ofcraftsmen for every kind of work,	15 Rendelkezésedre áll igen sok mesterember is, kőfaragó, kőműves és ács s mindenféle művészetben járatos ember, aki tud alkotni
16 while your gold and silver, bronze and iron wil be beyond reckoning. Set to work, then, and mayYahweh be with you!'	16 aranyból, ezüstből, rézből és vasból, amelynek száma nincsen. Fel tehát, láss hozzá és az Úr veled lesz.«
17 David then commanded al the leaders of Israel to help his son Solomon.	17 Megparancsolta továbbá Dávid Izrael valamennyi főemberének, hogy támogassák fiát, Salamont,
18 'Has not Yahweh your God been with you and given you peace on al sides, having put theinhabitants of the country into my power and the country now having been subdued for Yahweh and his people?	18 mondván: »Látjátok, hogy az Úr, a ti Istenetek veletek van és nyugalmat adott nektek körös-körül mindenfelől, a kezetekbe adta minden ellenségeteket, s meghódolt e föld az Úr s az ő népe előtt.
19 So now devote heart and soul to searching for Yahweh your God. Set to and build the sanctuary ofYahweh God, so that you can bring the ark of the covenant of Yahweh and the holy vessels of God into thehouse built for the name of Yahweh.'	19 Adjátok tehát szíveteket s lelketeket az Úr, a ti Istenetek keresésére: Fel, építsetek szentélyt az Úr Istennek, hogy be lehessen vinni az Úr szövetségének ládáját s az Úrnak szentelt tárgyakat az Úr nevének építendő házba.«
