1 Chronicles 16

NEW JERUSALEM	STUTTGARTENSIA-DELITZSCH
1 They brought the ark of God in and put it inside the tent which David had erected for it, and broughtburnt offerings and made communion sacrifices in God's presence.	1 וַיָּבִיאוּ אֶת־אֲרֹון הָאֱלֹהִים וַיַּצִּיגוּ אֹתֹו בְּתֹוךְ הָאֹהֶל אֲשֶׁר נָטָה־לֹו דָּוִיד וַיַּקְרִיבוּ עֹלֹות וּשְׁלָמִים לִפְנֵי הָאֱלֹהִים
2 And when David had finished making burnt offerings and communion sacrifices, he blessed thepeople in the name of Yahweh.	2 וַיְכַל דָּוִיד מֵהַעֲלֹות הָעֹלָה וְהַשְּׁלָמִים וַיְבָרֶךְ אֶת־הָעָם בְּשֵׁם יְהוָה
3 To all the Israelites, both men and women, to each, he then distributed a loaf of bread, a portion ofmeat and a raisin cake.	3 וַיְחַלֵּק לְכָל־אִישׁ יִשְׂרָאֵל מֵאִישׁ וְעַד־אִשָּׁה לְאִישׁ כִּכַּר־לֶחֶם וְאֶשְׁפָּר וַאֲשִׁישָׁה
4 He appointed some of the Levites as ministers before the ark of Yahweh, to extol, glorify and praiseYahweh, God of Israel;	4 וַיִּתֵּן לִפְנֵי אֲרֹון יְהוָה מִן־הַלְוִיִּם מְשָׁרְתִים וּלְהַזְכִּיר וּלְהֹודֹות וּלְהַלֵּל לַיהוָה אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל׃ פ
5 first Asaph, second Zechariah, then Uzziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-Edom and Jeiel, who played the lyre and harp, while Asaph played the cymbals.	5 אָסָף הָרֹאשׁ וּמִשְׁנֵהוּ זְכַרְיָה יְעִיאֵל וּשְׁמִירָמֹות וִיחִיאֵל וּמַתִּתְיָה וֶאֱלִיאָב וּבְנָיָהוּ וְעֹבֵד אֱדֹם וִיעִיאֵל בִּכְלֵי נְבָלִים וּבְכִנֹּרֹות וְאָסָף בַּמְצִלְתַּיִם מַשְׁמִיעַ
6 The priests Benaiah and Jahaziel continually blew the trumpet before the ark of the covenant of God.	6 וּבְנָיָהוּ וְיַחֲזִיאֵל הַכֹּהֲנִים בַּחֲצֹצְרֹות תָּמִיד לִפְנֵי אֲרֹון בְּרִית־הָאֱלֹהִים
7 On that day, David was the first to assign to Asaph and his kinsmen the giving of thanks to Yahweh:	7 בַּיֹּום הַהוּא אָז נָתַן דָּוִיד בָּרֹאשׁ לְהֹדֹות לַיהוָה בְּיַד־אָסָף וְאֶחָיו׃ פ
8 Give thanks to Yahweh, call his name aloud, proclaim his deeds to the peoples.	8 הֹודוּ לַיהוָה קִרְאוּ בִשְׁמֹו הֹודִיעוּ בָעַמִּים עֲלִילֹתָיו
9 Chant to him, play to him, sing about al his wonders!	9 שִׁירוּ לֹו זַמְּרוּ־לֹו שִׂיחוּ בְּכָל־נִפְלְאֹתָיו
10 Take pride in his holy name, let your heart rejoice, you seekers of Yahweh!	10 הִתְהַלְלוּ בְּשֵׁם קָדְשֹׁו יִשְׂמַח לֵב מְבַקְשֵׁי יְהוָה
11 Seek out Yahweh, seek his strength, continual y seek out his presence!	11 דִּרְשׁוּ יְהוָה וְעֻזֹּו בַּקְּשׁוּ פָנָיו תָּמִיד
12 Remember what wonders he has done, what miracles, what rulings he has given,	12 זִכְרוּ נִפְלְאֹתָיו אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה מֹפְתָיו וּמִשְׁפְּטֵי־פִיהוּ
13 you offspring of Israel his servant, you children of Jacob his chosen one!	13 זֶרַע יִשְׂרָאֵל עַבְדֹּו בְּנֵי יַעֲקֹב בְּחִירָיו
14 For he is Yahweh our God, his authority extends throughout the world.	14 הוּא יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵינוּ בְּכָל־הָאָרֶץ מִשְׁפָּטָיו
15 For ever remember his covenant, the pact imposed for a thousand generations,	15 זִכְרוּ לְעֹולָם בְּרִיתֹו דָּבָר צִוָּה לְאֶלֶף דֹּור
16 which he concluded with Abraham, which was sworn by him to Isaac,	16 אֲשֶׁר כָּרַת אֶת־אַבְרָהָם וּשְׁבוּעָתֹו לְיִצְחָק
17 since he confirmed it as a law for Jacob, as an eternal covenant for Israel,	17 וַיַּעֲמִידֶהָ לְיַעֲקֹב לְחֹק לְיִשְׂרָאֵל בְּרִית עֹולָם
18 saying, 'I wil give you the country; Canaan is the measure of your inheritance,	18 לֵאמֹר לְךָ אֶתֵּן אֶרֶץ־כְּנָעַן חֶבֶל נַחֲלַתְכֶם
19 'though you are few in number, only a few strangers there!'	19 בִּהְיֹותְכֶם מְתֵי מִסְפָּר כִּמְעַט וְגָרִים בָּהּ
20 As they wandered from nation to nation, from this kingdom to that people,	20 וַיִּתְהַלְּכוּ מִגֹּוי אֶל־גֹּוי וּמִמַּמְלָכָה אֶל־עַם אַחֵר
21 he would not let anyone oppress them and on their account he admonished kings,	21 לֹא־הִנִּיחַ לְאִישׁ לְעָשְׁקָם וַיֹּוכַח עֲלֵיהֶם מְלָכִים
22 'You are not to touch my anointed ones, my prophets are not to be harmed!'	22 אַל־תִּגְּעוּ בִּמְשִׁיחָי וּבִנְבִיאַי אַל־תָּרֵעוּ׃ פ
23 Sing to Yahweh, all the earth, day after day proclaim his salvation!	23 שִׁירוּ לַיהוָה כָּל־הָאָרֶץ בַּשְּׂרוּ מִיֹּום־אֶל־יֹום יְשׁוּעָתֹו
24 Declare his glory among the nations, his marvels to every people!	24 סַפְּרוּ בַגֹּויִם אֶת־כְּבֹודֹו בְּכָל־הָעַמִּים נִפְלְאֹתָיו
25 Great is Yahweh, worthy of all praise, more awesome than any of the gods.	25 כִּי גָדֹול יְהוָה וּמְהֻלָּל מְאֹד וְנֹורָא הוּא עַל־כָּל־אֱלֹהִים
26 Nothingness, al the gods of the nations. Yahweh it was who made the heavens,	26 כִּי כָּל־אֱלֹהֵי הָעַמִּים אֱלִילִים וַיהוָה שָׁמַיִם עָשָׂה
27 in his presence are splendour and majesty, in his sanctuary strength and joy.	27 הֹוד וְהָדָר לְפָנָיו עֹז וְחֶדְוָה בִּמְקֹמֹו
28 Give Yahweh his due, families of peoples, give Yahweh his due of glory and power,	28 הָבוּ לַיהוָה מִשְׁפְּחֹות עַמִּים הָבוּ לַיהוָה כָּבֹוד וָעֹז
29 give Yahweh the glory due to his name! Bring an offering and enter his courts, bow down to Yahwehin his sacred court,	29 הָבוּ לַיהוָה כְּבֹוד שְׁמֹו שְׂאוּ מִנְחָה וּבֹאוּ לְפָנָיו הִשְׁתַּחֲווּ לַיהוָה בְּהַדְרַת־קֹדֶשׁ
30 tremble before him, al the earth! The world is firm, it cannot be moved,	30 חִילוּ מִלְּפָנָיו כָּל־הָאָרֶץ אַף־תִּכֹּון תֵּבֵל בַּל־תִּמֹּוט
31 let the heavens rejoice and earth be glad! Say among the nations, 'Yahweh is king!'	31 יִשְׂמְחוּ הַשָּׁמַיִם וְתָגֵל הָאָרֶץ וְיֹאמְרוּ בַגֹּויִם יְהוָה מָלָךְ
32 Let the sea thunder and al it holds, the countryside exult and everything that is in it,	32 יִרְעַם הַיָּם וּמְלֹואֹו יַעֲלֹץ הַשָּׂדֶה וְכָל־אֲשֶׁר־בֹּו
33 and al the trees of the forest cry out for joy at Yahweh's approach, for he is coming to judge theearth.	33 אָז יְרַנְּנוּ עֲצֵי הַיָּעַר מִלִּפְנֵי יְהוָה כִּי־בָא לִשְׁפֹּוט אֶת־הָאָרֶץ
34 Give thanks to Yahweh, for he is good, for his faithful love lasts for ever!	34 הֹודוּ לַיהוָה כִּי טֹוב כִּי לְעֹולָם חַסְדֹּו
35 Say, 'Save us, God of our salvation, gather us together and free us from the nations, so that we maygive thanks to your holy name -- to be extolled whenever you are praised!'	35 וְאִמְרוּ הֹושִׁיעֵנוּ אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׁעֵנוּ וְקַבְּצֵנוּ וְהַצִּילֵנוּ מִן־הַגֹּויִם לְהֹדֹות לְשֵׁם קָדְשֶׁךָ לְהִשְׁתַּבֵּחַ בִּתְהִלָּתֶךָ
36 Blessed be Yahweh, God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting! To which all the people said,'Amen, Al eluia!'	36 בָּרוּךְ יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל מִן־הָעֹולָם וְעַד הָעֹלָם וַיֹּאמְרוּ כָל־הָעָם אָמֵן וְהַלֵּל לַיהוָה׃ פ
37 There before the ark of the covenant of Yahweh David left Asaph and his kinsmen to maintain apermanent ministry before the ark as each day's ritual required,	37 וַיַּעֲזָב־שָׁם לִפְנֵי אֲרֹון בְּרִית־יְהוָה לְאָסָף וּלְאֶחָיו לְשָׁרֵת לִפְנֵי הָאָרֹון תָּמִיד לִדְבַר־יֹום בְּיֹומֹו
38 and also Obed-Edom with his sixty-eight kinsmen. Obed-Edom son of Jeduthun, and Hosah weregatekeepers.	38 וְעֹבֵד אֱדֹם וַאֲחֵיהֶם שִׁשִּׁים וּשְׁמֹונָה וְעֹבֵד אֱדֹם בֶּן־יְדִיתוּן וְחֹסָה לְשֹׁעֲרִים
39 Zadok the priest and the priests, his kinsmen, he left before the dwelling of Yahweh on the high placeat Gibeon	39 וְאֵת ׀ צָדֹוק הַכֹּהֵן וְאֶחָיו הַכֹּהֲנִים לִפְנֵי מִשְׁכַּן יְהוָה בַּבָּמָה אֲשֶׁר בְּגִבְעֹון
40 to bring burnt offerings to Yahweh unfailingly, morning and evening, on the altar of burnt offering, andto carry out al that is written in the Law of Yahweh laid down for Israel.	40 לְהַעֲלֹות עֹלֹות לַיהוָה עַל־מִזְבַּח הָעֹלָה תָּמִיד לַבֹּקֶר וְלָעָרֶב וּלְכָל־הַכָּתוּב בְּתֹורַת יְהוָה אֲשֶׁר צִוָּה עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵל
41 With them were Heman and Jeduthun and the rest of those who were chosen and assigned by nameto give thanks to Yahweh, 'for his faithful love lasts for ever'.	41 וְעִמָּהֶם הֵימָן וִידוּתוּן וּשְׁאָר הַבְּרוּרִים אֲשֶׁר נִקְּבוּ בְּשֵׁמֹות לְהֹדֹות לַיהוָה כִּי לְעֹולָם חַסְדֹּו
42 With them were Heman and Jeduthun to play trumpets and cymbals, as wel as instruments foraccompanying sacred song. The sons of Jeduthun were in charge of the gates.	42 וְעִמָּהֶם הֵימָן וִידוּתוּן חֲצֹצְרֹות וּמְצִלְתַּיִם לְמַשְׁמִיעִים וּכְלֵי שִׁיר הָאֱלֹהִים וּבְנֵי יְדוּתוּן לַשָּׁעַר
43 Then al the people went back to their homes, and David went back to bless his household.	43 וַיֵּלְכוּ כָל־הָעָם אִישׁ לְבֵיתֹו וַיִּסֹּב דָּוִיד לְבָרֵךְ אֶת־בֵּיתֹו׃ פ
