1 Chronicles 16

NEW JERUSALEM	MODERN HEBREW BIBLE
1 They brought the ark of God in and put it inside the tent which David had erected for it, and broughtburnt offerings and made communion sacrifices in God's presence.	1 ויביאו את ארון האלהים ויציגו אתו בתוך האהל אשר נטה לו דויד ויקריבו עלות ושלמים לפני האלהים
2 And when David had finished making burnt offerings and communion sacrifices, he blessed thepeople in the name of Yahweh.	2 ויכל דויד מהעלות העלה והשלמים ויברך את העם בשם יהוה
3 To all the Israelites, both men and women, to each, he then distributed a loaf of bread, a portion ofmeat and a raisin cake.	3 ויחלק לכל איש ישראל מאיש ועד אשה לאיש ככר לחם ואשפר ואשישה
4 He appointed some of the Levites as ministers before the ark of Yahweh, to extol, glorify and praiseYahweh, God of Israel;	4 ויתן לפני ארון יהוה מן הלוים משרתים ולהזכיר ולהודות ולהלל ליהוה אלהי ישראל
5 first Asaph, second Zechariah, then Uzziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-Edom and Jeiel, who played the lyre and harp, while Asaph played the cymbals.	5 אסף הראש ומשנהו זכריה יעיאל ושמירמות ויחיאל ומתתיה ואליאב ובניהו ועבד אדם ויעיאל בכלי נבלים ובכנרות ואסף במצלתים משמיע
6 The priests Benaiah and Jahaziel continually blew the trumpet before the ark of the covenant of God.	6 ובניהו ויחזיאל הכהנים בחצצרות תמיד לפני ארון ברית האלהים
7 On that day, David was the first to assign to Asaph and his kinsmen the giving of thanks to Yahweh:	7 ביום ההוא אז נתן דויד בראש להדות ליהוה ביד אסף ואחיו
8 Give thanks to Yahweh, call his name aloud, proclaim his deeds to the peoples.	8 הודו ליהוה קראו בשמו הודיעו בעמים עלילתיו
9 Chant to him, play to him, sing about al his wonders!	9 שירו לו זמרו לו שיחו בכל נפלאתיו
10 Take pride in his holy name, let your heart rejoice, you seekers of Yahweh!	10 התהללו בשם קדשו ישמח לב מבקשי יהוה
11 Seek out Yahweh, seek his strength, continual y seek out his presence!	11 דרשו יהוה ועזו בקשו פניו תמיד
12 Remember what wonders he has done, what miracles, what rulings he has given,	12 זכרו נפלאתיו אשר עשה מפתיו ומשפטי פיהו
13 you offspring of Israel his servant, you children of Jacob his chosen one!	13 זרע ישראל עבדו בני יעקב בחיריו
14 For he is Yahweh our God, his authority extends throughout the world.	14 הוא יהוה אלהינו בכל הארץ משפטיו
15 For ever remember his covenant, the pact imposed for a thousand generations,	15 זכרו לעולם בריתו דבר צוה לאלף דור
16 which he concluded with Abraham, which was sworn by him to Isaac,	16 אשר כרת את אברהם ושבועתו ליצחק
17 since he confirmed it as a law for Jacob, as an eternal covenant for Israel,	17 ויעמידה ליעקב לחק לישראל ברית עולם
18 saying, 'I wil give you the country; Canaan is the measure of your inheritance,	18 לאמר לך אתן ארץ כנען חבל נחלתכם
19 'though you are few in number, only a few strangers there!'	19 בהיותכם מתי מספר כמעט וגרים בה
20 As they wandered from nation to nation, from this kingdom to that people,	20 ויתהלכו מגוי אל גוי ומממלכה אל עם אחר
21 he would not let anyone oppress them and on their account he admonished kings,	21 לא הניח לאיש לעשקם ויוכח עליהם מלכים
22 'You are not to touch my anointed ones, my prophets are not to be harmed!'	22 אל תגעו במשיחי ובנביאי אל תרעו
23 Sing to Yahweh, all the earth, day after day proclaim his salvation!	23 שירו ליהוה כל הארץ בשרו מיום אל יום ישועתו
24 Declare his glory among the nations, his marvels to every people!	24 ספרו בגוים את כבודו בכל העמים נפלאתיו
25 Great is Yahweh, worthy of all praise, more awesome than any of the gods.	25 כי גדול יהוה ומהלל מאד ונורא הוא על כל אלהים
26 Nothingness, al the gods of the nations. Yahweh it was who made the heavens,	26 כי כל אלהי העמים אלילים ויהוה שמים עשה
27 in his presence are splendour and majesty, in his sanctuary strength and joy.	27 הוד והדר לפניו עז וחדוה במקמו
28 Give Yahweh his due, families of peoples, give Yahweh his due of glory and power,	28 הבו ליהוה משפחות עמים הבו ליהוה כבוד ועז
29 give Yahweh the glory due to his name! Bring an offering and enter his courts, bow down to Yahwehin his sacred court,	29 הבו ליהוה כבוד שמו שאו מנחה ובאו לפניו השתחוו ליהוה בהדרת קדש
30 tremble before him, al the earth! The world is firm, it cannot be moved,	30 חילו מלפניו כל הארץ אף תכון תבל בל תמוט
31 let the heavens rejoice and earth be glad! Say among the nations, 'Yahweh is king!'	31 ישמחו השמים ותגל הארץ ויאמרו בגוים יהוה מלך
32 Let the sea thunder and al it holds, the countryside exult and everything that is in it,	32 ירעם הים ומלואו יעלץ השדה וכל אשר בו
33 and al the trees of the forest cry out for joy at Yahweh's approach, for he is coming to judge theearth.	33 אז ירננו עצי היער מלפני יהוה כי בא לשפוט את הארץ
34 Give thanks to Yahweh, for he is good, for his faithful love lasts for ever!	34 הודו ליהוה כי טוב כי לעולם חסדו
35 Say, 'Save us, God of our salvation, gather us together and free us from the nations, so that we maygive thanks to your holy name -- to be extolled whenever you are praised!'	35 ואמרו הושיענו אלהי ישענו וקבצנו והצילנו מן הגוים להדות לשם קדשך להשתבח בתהלתך
36 Blessed be Yahweh, God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting! To which all the people said,'Amen, Al eluia!'	36 ברוך יהוה אלהי ישראל מן העולם ועד העלם ויאמרו כל העם אמן והלל ליהוה
37 There before the ark of the covenant of Yahweh David left Asaph and his kinsmen to maintain apermanent ministry before the ark as each day's ritual required,	37 ויעזב שם לפני ארון ברית יהוה לאסף ולאחיו לשרת לפני הארון תמיד לדבר יום ביומו
38 and also Obed-Edom with his sixty-eight kinsmen. Obed-Edom son of Jeduthun, and Hosah weregatekeepers.	38 ועבד אדם ואחיהם ששים ושמונה ועבד אדם בן ידיתון וחסה לשערים
39 Zadok the priest and the priests, his kinsmen, he left before the dwelling of Yahweh on the high placeat Gibeon	39 ואת צדוק הכהן ואחיו הכהנים לפני משכן יהוה בבמה אשר בגבעון
40 to bring burnt offerings to Yahweh unfailingly, morning and evening, on the altar of burnt offering, andto carry out al that is written in the Law of Yahweh laid down for Israel.	40 להעלות עלות ליהוה על מזבח העלה תמיד לבקר ולערב ולכל הכתוב בתורת יהוה אשר צוה על ישראל
41 With them were Heman and Jeduthun and the rest of those who were chosen and assigned by nameto give thanks to Yahweh, 'for his faithful love lasts for ever'.	41 ועמהם הימן וידותון ושאר הברורים אשר נקבו בשמות להדות ליהוה כי לעולם חסדו
42 With them were Heman and Jeduthun to play trumpets and cymbals, as wel as instruments foraccompanying sacred song. The sons of Jeduthun were in charge of the gates.	42 ועמהם הימן וידותון חצצרות ומצלתים למשמיעים וכלי שיר האלהים ובני ידותון לשער
43 Then al the people went back to their homes, and David went back to bless his household.	43 וילכו כל העם איש לביתו ויסב דויד לברך את ביתו
