2 Kings 12

NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 Jehoash was seven years old when he came to the throne.	1 Joas avait sept ans à son avènement.
2 Jehoash became king in the seventh year of Jehu, and reigned for forty years in Jerusalem. Hismother's name was Zibiah of Beersheba.	2 En la septième année de Jéhu, Joas devint roi et il régna 40 ans à Jérusalem; sa mère s'appelaitCibya et était de Bersabée.
3 Al his life Jehoash did what Yahweh regards as right, having been instructed by Jehoiada the priest.	3 Joas fit ce qui est agréable à Yahvé, pendant toute sa vie, car le prêtre Yehoyada l'avait instruit.
4 The high places, however, were not abolished, and the people stil offered sacrifices and incense onthe high places.	4 Seulement, les hauts lieux ne disparurent pas et le peuple continuait d'offrir sacrifices et encens surles hauts lieux.
5 Jehoash said to the priests, 'Al the money from the sacred revenues brought to the Temple ofYahweh, the money from personal taxes, and al the money voluntarily offered to the Temple-	5 Joas dit aux prêtres: "Tout l'argent des redevances sacrées qu'on apporte au Temple de Yahvé,l'argent des taxes personnelles et tout l'argent offert volontairement au Temple,
6 the priests are to receive this individual y from people of their acquaintance and wil carry out al therepairs to the Temple which need to be made.'	6 les prêtres le recevront chacun des gens de sa connaissance et ils feront au Temple toutes lesréparations qu'il y a à faire."
7 Now in the twenty-third year of King Jehoash the priests had done no repairs to the Temple;	7 Or, en la vingt-troisième année du roi Joas, les prêtres n'avaient pas réparé le Temple;
8 so King Jehoash summoned Jehoiada the priest and the other priests. 'Why are you not repairing theTemple?' he asked. 'You are no longer to accept money from people of your acquaintance but are to hand it overfor the Temple repairs.'	8 alors le roi Joas appela le prêtre Yehoyada et les prêtres et il leur dit: "Pourquoi ne réparez-vous pasle Temple? Il ne faut plus que vous receviez l'argent des gens de votre connaissance, vous le donnerez pour ledommage du Temple."
9 The priests agreed to accept no money from the people and no longer to be responsible for repairs tothe Temple.	9 Les prêtres consentirent à ne pas accepter d'argent du peuple et à n'être plus chargés de réparer leTemple.
10 Jehoiada the priest took a chest, bored a hole in the lid and placed it beside the pil ar, to the right ofthe entry to the Temple of Yahweh; in it the priests who guarded the threshold put al the money which was givenfor the Temple of Yahweh.	10 Le prêtre Yehoyada prit un coffre, perça un trou dans son couvercle et le plaça à côté de la stèle, àdroite quand on entre dans le Temple de Yahvé, et les prêtres gardiens du seuil y déposaient tout l'argent livré auTemple de Yahvé.
11 Whenever they saw that there was a great deal of money in the chest, the king's secretary wouldcome, and they would empty it out and reckon the money then in the Temple of Yahweh.	11 Quand ils voyaient qu'il y avait beaucoup d'argent dans le coffre, le secrétaire royal montait, onfondait et on comptait l'argent qui se trouvait dans le Temple de Yahvé.
12 Once checked, they paid this money over to the masters of works attached to the Temple of Yahweh,and these in turn spent it on carpenters and builders working on the Temple of Yahweh,	12 Une fois l'argent éprouvé, on le remettait aux maîtres d'oeuvres attachés au Temple de Yahvé etceux-ci le dépensaient pour les charpentiers et les ouvriers du bâtiment qui travaillaient au Temple de Yahvé,
13 on masons and stonecutters, and on buying timber and dressed stone to be used for repairs to theTemple of Yahweh; in short, for al the costs of the Temple repairs.	13 pour les maçons et les tailleurs de pierres, et pour acheter le bois et les pierres de taille, destinés àla réparation du Temple de Yahvé, bref pour tous les frais de réparation du Temple.
14 But no silver basins, knives, sprinkling bowls, trumpets or gold or silver objects were made for theTemple of Yahweh out of the money presented,	14 Mais on ne faisait dans le Temple de Yahvé ni bassins d'argent, ni couteaux, ni bols à aspersion, nitrompettes, ni aucun objet d'or ou d'argent avec l'argent qui y était livré,
15 which was al given to the masters of works for repairing the Temple of Yahweh.	15 on le donnait aux maîtres d'oeuvres qui l'employaient à réparer le Temple de Yahvé.
16 No accounts were kept with the men to whom the money was paid over to be spent on the workmen,since they were honest in their work.	16 On ne tenait pas de comptes avec les gens aux mains desquels on remettait l'argent pour le donneraux artisans, car ils agissaient avec probité.
17 Money offered in expiation of an offence or of a sin was not given to the Temple of Yahweh; that wasfor the priests.	17 Quant à l'argent versé pour la satisfaction d'un délit ou d'un péché, il n'était pas livré au Temple deYahvé, il était pour les prêtres.
18 At that time Hazael king of Aram went to war against Gath, and captured it; he then prepared to attackJerusalem.	18 Alors Hazaël, roi d'Aram, partit en guerre contre Gat et la prit, puis il se disposa à monter contreJérusalem.
19 Jehoash king of Judah took all the sacred offerings dedicated by his ancestors, the kings of Judah,Jehoshaphat, Jehoram and Ahaziah, with those which he himself had dedicated, and all the gold which was tobe found in the treasuries of the Temple of Yahweh and of the palace; he sent it all to Hazael king of Aram, whoretired from Jerusalem.	19 Joas, roi de Juda, prit tout ce qu'avaient consacré les rois de Juda, ses pères, Josaphat, Joram etOchozias, ce qu'il avait consacré lui-même et tout l'or qu'on trouva dans les trésors du Temple de Yahvé et dupalais royal; il envoya le tout à Hazaël, roi d'Aram, et celui-ci s'éloigna de Jérusalem.
20 The rest of the history of Joash, his entire career, is this not recorded in the Book of the Annals of theKings of Judah?	20 Le reste de l'histoire de Joas et tout ce qu'il a fait, cela n'est-il pas écrit au livre des Annales desrois de Juda?
21 His own retainers rebelled and hatched a plot; they murdered Joash in the palace of the Millo . . .	21 Ses officiers se soulevèrent et ourdirent un complot; ils frappèrent Joas au Bet-Millo...
22 Jozacar son of Shimeath and Jehozabad son of Shomer were the retainers who struck the blows fromwhich he died. He was buried with his ancestors in the City of David; his son Amaziah succeeded him.	22 Ce furent Yozakar fils de Shiméat et Yehozabad fils de Shomer qui le frappèrent, et il mourut.
