2 Kings 12

1 Jehoash was seven years old when he came to the throne.	1 Quando divenne re, Ioas aveva sette anni.
2 Jehoash became king in the seventh year of Jehu, and reigned for forty years in Jerusalem. Hismother's name was Zibiah of Beersheba.	2 Divenne re nell’anno settimo di Ieu e regnò quarant’anni a Gerusalemme. Sua madre, di Bersabea, si chiamava Sibìa.
3 Al his life Jehoash did what Yahweh regards as right, having been instructed by Jehoiada the priest.	3 Ioas fece ciò che è retto agli occhi del Signore per tutta la sua vita, perché lo aveva istruito il sacerdote Ioiadà.
4 The high places, however, were not abolished, and the people stil offered sacrifices and incense onthe high places.	4 Ma non scomparvero le alture, dal momento che il popolo sacrificava e offriva ancora incenso sulle alture.
5 Jehoash said to the priests, 'Al the money from the sacred revenues brought to the Temple ofYahweh, the money from personal taxes, and al the money voluntarily offered to the Temple-	5 Ioas disse ai sacerdoti: «Tutto il denaro delle cose sacre, che viene portato nel tempio del Signore, il denaro corrente versato da ognuno come riscatto della persona e tutto il denaro delle libere offerte di ciascuno al tempio del Signore,
6 the priests are to receive this individual y from people of their acquaintance and wil carry out al therepairs to the Temple which need to be made.'	6 lo ritirino per sé i sacerdoti, ognuno dai propri addetti; ed essi riparino le parti danneggiate del tempio, ovunque vi trovino danni».
7 Now in the twenty-third year of King Jehoash the priests had done no repairs to the Temple;	7 Ora nell’anno ventitreesimo del re Ioas i sacerdoti non avevano ancora riparato le parti danneggiate del tempio.
8 so King Jehoash summoned Jehoiada the priest and the other priests. 'Why are you not repairing theTemple?' he asked. 'You are no longer to accept money from people of your acquaintance but are to hand it overfor the Temple repairs.'	8 Il re Ioas convocò il sacerdote Ioiadà con i sacerdoti e disse loro: «Perché non avete riparato le parti danneggiate del tempio? D’ora innanzi non dovrete più ritirare il denaro dai vostri addetti, ma lo consegnerete direttamente per le parti danneggiate del tempio».
9 The priests agreed to accept no money from the people and no longer to be responsible for repairs tothe Temple.	9 I sacerdoti acconsentirono a non ricevere più il denaro dal popolo e a non curare il restauro del tempio.
10 Jehoiada the priest took a chest, bored a hole in the lid and placed it beside the pil ar, to the right ofthe entry to the Temple of Yahweh; in it the priests who guarded the threshold put al the money which was givenfor the Temple of Yahweh.	10 Il sacerdote Ioiadà prese una cassa, vi fece un buco nel coperchio e la pose a lato dell’altare, a destra di chi entra nel tempio del Signore. I sacerdoti custodi della soglia depositavano ivi tutto il denaro portato al tempio del Signore.
11 Whenever they saw that there was a great deal of money in the chest, the king's secretary wouldcome, and they would empty it out and reckon the money then in the Temple of Yahweh.	11 Quando vedevano che nella cassa c’era molto denaro, saliva lo scriba del re, insieme con il sommo sacerdote, ed essi raccoglievano e contavano il denaro trovato nel tempio del Signore.
12 Once checked, they paid this money over to the masters of works attached to the Temple of Yahweh,and these in turn spent it on carpenters and builders working on the Temple of Yahweh,	12 Consegnavano il denaro controllato nelle mani degli esecutori dei lavori, sovrintendenti al tempio del Signore. Costoro lo distribuivano ai falegnami e ai costruttori che lavoravano nel tempio del Signore,
13 on masons and stonecutters, and on buying timber and dressed stone to be used for repairs to theTemple of Yahweh; in short, for al the costs of the Temple repairs.	13 ai muratori, agli scalpellini, per l’acquisto di legname e pietre da taglio, per riparare le parti danneggiate del tempio del Signore e per tutto quanto era necessario per riparare il tempio.
14 But no silver basins, knives, sprinkling bowls, trumpets or gold or silver objects were made for theTemple of Yahweh out of the money presented,	14 Ma con il denaro portato al tempio del Signore non si dovevano fare nel tempio del Signore né coppe d’argento, né coltelli, né vasi per l’aspersione, né trombe, nessun oggetto d’oro o d’argento.
15 which was al given to the masters of works for repairing the Temple of Yahweh.	15 Esso infatti era consegnato solo agli esecutori dei lavori, perché riparassero il tempio del Signore.
16 No accounts were kept with the men to whom the money was paid over to be spent on the workmen,since they were honest in their work.	16 Non si controllavano coloro nelle cui mani veniva consegnato il denaro da dare agli esecutori dei lavori, perché lavoravano con onestà.
17 Money offered in expiation of an offence or of a sin was not given to the Temple of Yahweh; that wasfor the priests.	17 Il denaro del sacrificio di riparazione e del sacrificio per il peccato non era portato nel tempio del Signore, ma era per i sacerdoti.
18 At that time Hazael king of Aram went to war against Gath, and captured it; he then prepared to attackJerusalem.	18 In quel tempo Cazaèl, re di Aram, salì per combattere contro Gat e la conquistò. Poi Cazaèl si accinse a salire a Gerusalemme.
19 Jehoash king of Judah took all the sacred offerings dedicated by his ancestors, the kings of Judah,Jehoshaphat, Jehoram and Ahaziah, with those which he himself had dedicated, and all the gold which was tobe found in the treasuries of the Temple of Yahweh and of the palace; he sent it all to Hazael king of Aram, whoretired from Jerusalem.	19 Ioas, re di Giuda, prese tutti gli oggetti consacrati da Giòsafat, da Ioram e da Acazia, suoi padri, re di Giuda, e quelli consacrati da lui stesso, insieme con tutto l’oro trovato nei tesori del tempio del Signore e della reggia; egli mandò tutto ciò a Cazaèl, re di Aram, che si allontanò da Gerusalemme.
20 The rest of the history of Joash, his entire career, is this not recorded in the Book of the Annals of theKings of Judah?	20 Le altre gesta di Ioas e tutte le sue azioni non sono forse descritte nel libro delle Cronache dei re di Giuda?
21 His own retainers rebelled and hatched a plot; they murdered Joash in the palace of the Millo . . .	21 I suoi ufficiali si sollevarono organizzando una congiura; colpirono Ioas a Bet-Millo, nella discesa verso Silla.
22 Jozacar son of Shimeath and Jehozabad son of Shomer were the retainers who struck the blows fromwhich he died. He was buried with his ancestors in the City of David; his son Amaziah succeeded him.	22 Iozabàd, figlio di Simeàt, e Iozabàd, figlio di Somer, suoi ufficiali, lo colpirono ed egli morì. Lo seppellirono con i suoi padri nella Città di Davide e al suo posto divenne re suo figlio Amasia.
