1 When Solomon had finished building the Temple of Yahweh, the royal palace and everything else whichSolomon had wanted to do,	1 Quando Salomone ebbe finito di edificare la casa del Signore, quella del re, e tutto ciò che egli aveva desiderato e voluto fare,
2 Yahweh appeared to Solomon a second time, as he had appeared to him at Gibeon.	2 il Signore gli apparve una seconda volta, come gli era apparso in Gabaon.
3 Yahweh said to him, 'I have heard your prayer and the entreaty which you have before me. I consecratethis temple which you have built: I place my name there for ever; my eyes and my heart wil be there always.	3 Il Signore gli disse: « Io ho esaudito la tua orazione, la tua supplica, che hai fatto davanti a me, ho santificata questa casa da te edificata: vi metterò il mio nome in sempiterno, e i miei occhi e il mio cuore saranno là tutti i giorni.
4 For your part, if you walk before me in innocence of heart and in honesty, like your father David, if youdo everything that I command and keep my laws and my ordinances,	4 Inoltre, se tu camminerai dinanzi a me come camminò tuo padre, nella semplicità di cuore e nell'equità, se farai tutto quello ch'io t'ho comandato, e osserverai le mie leggi e i miei comandamenti,
5 I shal make your royal throne secure over Israel for ever, as I promised your father David when I said,"You wil never lack for a man on the throne of Israel."	5 io stabilirò il trono del tuo regno in eterno sopra Israele, come promisi a David tuo padre, dicendo: Non mancherà uno della tua stirpe sul trono d'Israele.
6 But if you turn away from me, either you or your descendants, and instead of keeping mycommandments and laws which I have laid down for you, you go and serve other gods and worship them,	6 Ma se voi e i vostri figli vi allontanerete da me, e non mi seguirete coll'osservanza dei miei precetti e delle mie cerimonie che vi ho proposte, ma andrete a servire gli dèi stranieri, ad adorarli,
7 then I shal banish Israel from the country which I have given them, and shall disown this Temple which Ihave consecrated for my name, and Israel will be a proverb and a byword among al peoples.	7 io svellerò Israele dalla terra che gli ho data, rigetterò dal mio cospetto il tempio che consacrai al mio nome, e Israele diverrà proverbio e favola fra tutti i popoli.
8 As for this once-exalted Temple, everyone who passes by wil be appal ed, and they wil whistle and say,"Why has Yahweh treated this country and this Temple like this?"	8 Questa casa diverrà un esempio: chiunque passerà presso di lei stupirà, fischierà e dirà: Per qual motivo il Signore ha trattato in questa maniera questo paese, e questo tempio?
9 And the answer wil be, "Because they deserted Yahweh their God who brought their ancestors out ofEgypt, and they adopted other gods and worshipped and served them; that is why Yahweh has brought al thesedisasters on them." '	9 E sarà risposto: Perchè hanno abbandonato il Signore Dio loro che trasse i loro padri dalla terra d'Egitto, e sono andati dietro agli dèi stranieri, li hanno adorati e serviti; per questo il Signore ha fatto venire sopra di loro tutti questi mali ».
10 At the end of the twenty years that it took Solomon to erect the two buildings, the Temple of Yahwehand the royal palace	10 Al termine dei venti anni, nei quali Salomone edificò le due case, la casa del Signore e quella del re,
11 (Hiram king of Tyre had provided Solomon with al the cedar wood, juniper wood and gold that hewanted), King Solomon gave Hiram twenty towns in the territory of Galilee.	11 siccome Hiram re di Tiro aveva somministrati i legnami di cedro e di abete e l'oro necessario, Salomone diede allora ad Hiram venti città nel paese della Galilea.

15 This is an account of the forced labour levied by King Solomon for building the Temple of Yahweh, hisown palace, the Mil o and the fortifications of Jerusalem, Hazor, Megiddo, Gezer	15 Tale fu appunto la somma delle spese che fece Salomone per edificare la casa del Signore, la sua casa, Mello, le mura di Gerusalemme, Eser, Mageddo e Gazer.
16 (Pharaoh king of Egypt mounted an expedition, captured Gezer, burnt it down and massacred theCanaanites living there; he then gave the town as a dowry to his daughter, Solomon's wife,	16 Faraone re d'Egitto salì e prese Gazer, la diede alle fiamme ed uccise i Cananei che abitavano la città, poi la diede come dote alla sua figlia moglie di Salomone.

21 their descendants still remaining in the country on whom the Israelites had not been able to enforce thecurse of destruction -- these Solomon levied as forced labourers, as is stil the case today.	21 e i loro figli rimasti nel paese, quelli cioè che i figli d'Israele non avevano potuto sterminare, Salomone li fece tributari, come sono anch'oggi.
22 Solomon did not, however, impose forced labour on the Israelites; for they were soldiers, his officials,his administrators, his officers and his chariot and cavalry commanders.	22 Ma dei figli d'Israele non fece servir nessuno: essi erano uomini di guerra, suoi ministri, principi, capi e comandanti dei carri e dei cavalli.

25 Three times a year Solomon presented burnt offerings and communion sacrifices on the altar which hehad built for Yahweh and set his burnt offerings smoking before Yahweh. 28 They went to Ophir and took on four hundred and twenty talents of gold, which they brought back toSolomon.	28 Essi, andati ad Ofir, tolsero di là quattrocento venti talenti d'oro e li portarono a Salomone.
