NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 When Solomon had finished building the Temple of Yahweh, the royal palace and everything else whichSolomon had wanted to do,	1 Quando Salomone ebbe terminato di costruire il tempio del Signore, il palazzo reale e quanto gli piacque attuare,
2 Yahweh appeared to Solomon a second time, as he had appeared to him at Gibeon.	2 il Signore gli apparve una seconda volta come gli era apparso in Gabaon
3 Yahweh said to him, 'I have heard your prayer and the entreaty which you have before me. I consecratethis temple which you have built: I place my name there for ever; my eyes and my heart wil be there always.	3 e gli disse: "Ho esaudito la preghiera e la supplica che hai fatto davanti a me e ho consacrato questo tempio che hai costruito perché vi ponessi il mio nome per sempre; e qui saranno sempre i miei occhi e il mio cuore.
4 For your part, if you walk before me in innocence of heart and in honesty, like your father David, if youdo everything that I command and keep my laws and my ordinances,	4 Quanto a te, se camminerai al mio cospetto, come camminò Davide tuo padre, con purità di cuore e rettitudine, facendo tutto quello che ti ho comandato; se custodirai i miei statuti e i miei decreti,
5 I shal make your royal throne secure over Israel for ever, as I promised your father David when I said,"You wil never lack for a man on the throne of Israel."	5 stabilirò per sempre il tuo trono regale su Israele, come ho promesso a Davide tuo padre dicendo: "Non ti mancherà mai uno che segga sul trono d'Israele".
6 But if you turn away from me, either you or your descendants, and instead of keeping mycommandments and laws which I have laid down for you, you go and serve other gods and worship them,	6 Se però voi e i vostri figli vi allontanerete da me e non osserverete i comandamenti e gli statuti che vi ho dato, se ve ne andrete a servire gli dèi stranieri e li adorerete,
7 then I shal banish Israel from the country which I have given them, and shall disown this Temple which Ihave consecrated for my name, and Israel will be a proverb and a byword among al peoples.	7 sterminerò Israele dalla faccia della terra che gli ho donato e rigetterò dal mio cospetto il tempio che ho consacrato al mio nome, cosicché Israele diventi la favola e lo zimbello di tutti i popoli.
8 As for this once-exalted Temple, everyone who passes by wil be appal ed, and they wil whistle and say,"Why has Yahweh treated this country and this Temple like this?"	8 Questo tempio diverrà un mucchio di rovine; chiunque gli passerà vicino rimarrà stupefatto, fischierà per lo stupore e dirà: "Perché il Signore ha agito in questo modo con questo paese e con questo tempio?".
9 And the answer wil be, "Because they deserted Yahweh their God who brought their ancestors out ofEgypt, and they adopted other gods and worshipped and served them; that is why Yahweh has brought al thesedisasters on them." '	9 Gli risponderanno: "Perché hanno abbandonato il Signore, Dio loro, che ha fatto uscire i loro padri dal paese d'Egitto e hanno aderito a dèi stranieri, li hanno adorati e serviti; perciò il Signore ha inviato su di loro tutti questi mali".
10 At the end of the twenty years that it took Solomon to erect the two buildings, the Temple of Yahwehand the royal palace	10 Dopo il periodo di vent'anni in cui Salomone aveva costruito i due edifici, il tempio del Signore e il palazzo reale,
11 (Hiram king of Tyre had provided Solomon with al the cedar wood, juniper wood and gold that hewanted), King Solomon gave Hiram twenty towns in the territory of Galilee.	11 poiché Chiram, re di Tiro, gli aveva fornito legno di cedro e di cipresso e oro secondo tutti i suoi desideri, il re Salomone diede a Chiram venti città nella regione di Galilea.

14 Hiram sent the king one hundred and twenty talents of gold.	14 Chiram mandò al re centoventi talenti d'oro.
15 This is an account of the forced labour levied by King Solomon for building the Temple of Yahweh, hisown palace, the Mil o and the fortifications of Jerusalem, Hazor, Megiddo, Gezer	15 Ecco quanto riguarda il reclutamento che il re Salomone fece per costruire il tempio del Signore, il suo proprio palazzo, il Millo e il muro di Gerusalemme, Azor, Meghiddo e Ghezer.
16 (Pharaoh king of Egypt mounted an expedition, captured Gezer, burnt it down and massacred theCanaanites living there; he then gave the town as a dowry to his daughter, Solomon's wife,	16 Il faraone, re d'Egitto, era salito e aveva conquistato Ghezer; l'aveva incendiata, aveva massacrato i Cananei che l'abitavano e l'aveva data in dote alla figlia, moglie di Salomone.

21 their descendants still remaining in the country on whom the Israelites had not been able to enforce thecurse of destruction -- these Solomon levied as forced labourers, as is stil the case today.	21 cioè i loro discendenti che erano ancora rimasti nel paese, perché i figli d'Israele non erano stati capaci di votarli all'anatèma, Salomone li ingaggiò nei lavori forzati fino ad oggi.
22 Solomon did not, however, impose forced labour on the Israelites; for they were soldiers, his officials,his administrators, his officers and his chariot and cavalry commanders.	22 Ma ai figli d'Israele non impose alcun lavoro forzato, perché essi servivano come soldati: erano le sue guardie, i suoi ufficiali, i suoi scudieri, gli ufficiali dei suoi carri e dei suoi cavalieri.
23 There were five hundred and fifty officials in charge of the foremen over Solomon's work, whosupervised the people employed on the work.	23 Tra essi v'erano i cinquecentocinquanta capi dei prefetti che dirigevano i lavori di Salomone; essi comandavano la gente impiegata nei lavori.
24 After Pharaoh's daughter had moved from the City of David up to the palace which he had built for her,he then built the Mil o.	24 Dopo che la figlia del faraone salì dalla città di Davide alla casa che Salomone le aveva edificato, egli costruì il Millo.
25 Three times a year Solomon presented burnt offerings and communion sacrifices on the altar which hehad built for Yahweh and set his burnt offerings smoking before Yahweh. Thus he completed the Temple.	25 Salomone offriva tre volte all'anno olocausti e sacrifici di comunione sull'altare ch'egli aveva costruito al Signore e bruciava aromi davanti al Signore. 26 King Solomon equipped a fleet at Ezion-Geber, which is near Elath on the shores of the Red Sea, inEdom.	26 Il re Salomone costruì pure una flotta a Ezion-Gheber, presso Elat, sulla spiaggia del Mar Rosso, nella regione di Edom.
27 For this fleet Hiram sent men of his, experienced sailors, to serve with those in Solomon's service.	27 Chiram mandò sulle navi i suoi servi, ch'erano marinai esperti di mare, assieme ai servi di Salomone.
28 They went to Ophir and took on four hundred and twenty talents of gold, which they brought back toSolomon.	28 Essi andarono a Ofir, dove presero oro per quattrocentoventi talenti e lo portarono al re Salomone.
