1 When Solomon had finished building the Temple of Yahweh, the royal palace and everything else whichSolomon had wanted to do,	1 - Terminato che ebbe Salomone di costruire la casa del Signore, la casa reale e tutto ciò che aveva desiderato e voluto fare,
2 Yahweh appeared to Solomon a second time, as he had appeared to him at Gibeon.	2 il Signore gli apparve una seconda volta, come gli era apparso già in Gabaon,
3 Yahweh said to him, 'I have heard your prayer and the entreaty which you have before me. I consecratethis temple which you have built: I place my name there for ever; my eyes and my heart wil be there always.	3 e gli disse: «Io ho esaudito la tua orazione e la tua supplica, rivolta al mio cospetto; ho santificato questa casa, che tu hai edificato per mettervi il mio nome in sempiterno, e lì saran sempre i miei occhi e il mio cuore.
4 For your part, if you walk before me in innocence of heart and in honesty, like your father David, if youdo everything that I command and keep my laws and my ordinances,	4 Tu poi, se camminerai sempre al mio cospetto, come camminò il padre tuo, nella semplicità del cuore e nella rettitudine, e farai tutto ciò che ti ho comandato e osserverai le mie leggi e i miei precetti,
5 I shal make your royal throne secure over Israel for ever, as I promised your father David when I said,"You wil never lack for a man on the throne of Israel."	5 porrò il trono del tuo regno sopra Israele in eterno, come promisi a Davide tuo padre con quelle parole: - Non sarà tolto mai un uomo della tua discendenza dal trono di Israele. -
6 But if you turn away from me, either you or your descendants, and instead of keeping mycommandments and laws which I have laid down for you, you go and serve other gods and worship them,	6 Che se poi vi allontanerete da me, voi e i vostri figliuoli, e non seguirete me, e non osserverete i miei comandamenti, le mie leggi che vi ho imposte, ma ve ne andrete a servire degli dèi stranieri e li adorerete,
7 then I shal banish Israel from the country which I have given them, and shall disown this Temple which Ihave consecrated for my name, and Israel will be a proverb and a byword among al peoples.	7 strapperò Israele dalla superficie della terra, che gli ho dato, e rigetterò dal mio cospetto il tempio, che ho santificato al mio nome, ed Israele diverrà lo scherno e la favola di tutti i popoli.
8 As for this once-exalted Temple, everyone who passes by wil be appal ed, and they wil whistle and say,"Why has Yahweh treated this country and this Temple like this?"	8 E questa casa sarà a tutti di esempio, e chiunque vi passerà vicino sarà pieno di stupore e fischierà e dirà: - Perchè il Signore ha trattato così questa terra e questa casa? -
9 And the answer wil be, "Because they deserted Yahweh their God who brought their ancestors out ofEgypt, and they adopted other gods and worshipped and served them; that is why Yahweh has brought al thesedisasters on them." '	9 e si risponderà: - Perchè hanno abbandonato il Signore Dio loro, che trasse i loro padri dalla terra di Egitto, e si son dati a seguire divinità straniere, ad adorarle e a venerarle; perciò il Signore ha mandato tali sciagure sopra di loro -».
10 At the end of the twenty years that it took Solomon to erect the two buildings, the Temple of Yahwehand the royal palace	10 Passati che furono venti anni da che Salomone ebbe edificato le due case, vale a dire la casa del Signore e la reggia,

14 Hiram sent the king one hundred and twenty talents of gold.	14 Iram mandò inoltre al re Salomone centoventi talenti d'oro.
15 This is an account of the forced labour levied by King Solomon for building the Temple of Yahweh, hisown palace, the Mil o and the fortifications of Jerusalem, Hazor, Megiddo, Gezer	15 Ecco quanto spese Salomone per edificare la casa del Signore e la casa sua e Mello e le mura di Gerusalemme ed Eser e Mageddo e Gazer.
16 (Pharaoh king of Egypt mounted an expedition, captured Gezer, burnt it down and massacred theCanaanites living there; he then gave the town as a dowry to his daughter, Solomon's wife,	16 Faraone, re d'Egitto, era salito ad impadronirsi della città di Gazer, e incendiatala, aveva ucciso tutti i Cananei che abitavano la città e l'aveva data in dote alla figlia sua, moglie di Salomone.
17 and Solomon rebuilt Gezer), Lower Beth-Horon,	17 Salomone adunque edificò Gazer, e Betoron inferiore,
18 Baalath, Tamar in the desert, inside the country,	18 e Balaat, e Palmira nel deserto,
19 al Solomon's storage towns owned by Solomon, al the towns for his chariots and horses, andwhatever Solomon was pleased to build in Jerusalem, in the Lebanon and in al the countries under his rule.	19 e fortificò tutti i villaggi che appartenevano a lui e che erano senza mura e tutte le città per i carri e per la cavalleria e tutto ciò che gli piacque edificare in Gerusalemme, e al Libano e in tutto il territorio di cui era padrone.
20 Al those who survived of the Amorite, Hittite, Perizzite, Hivite and Jebusite peoples, who were notIsraelites-	20 Tutti quelli che erano restati degli Amorrei, degli Etei, dei Ferezei, degli Evei e dei Jebusei che non appartenevano ai figli d'Israele
21 their descendants still remaining in the country on whom the Israelites had not been able to enforce thecurse of destruction -- these Solomon levied as forced labourers, as is stil the case today.	21 e i cui discendenti erano restati nel paese, quelli cioè che i figli d'Israele non avevano potuto sterminare, furono da Salomone fatti tributari fino ai nostri giorni.
22 Solomon did not, however, impose forced labour on the Israelites; for they were soldiers, his officials,his administrators, his officers and his chariot and cavalry commanders.	22 Salomone poi stabilì che nessuno dei figli d'Israele avesse ad essere schiavo, ma dovevano essere o soldati, o ministri suoi, o capi, o comandanti dei carri e della cavalleria.
23 There were five hundred and fifty officials in charge of the foremen over Solomon's work, whosupervised the people employed on the work.	23 I capi preposti da Salomone a tutti i suoi lavori erano cinquecentocinquanta: a loro stava soggetto il popolo e sopraintendevano alle opere stabilite.

25 Three times a year Solomon presented burnt offerings and communion sacrifices on the altar which hehad built for Yahweh and set his burnt offerings smoking before Yahweh. Thus he completed the Temple.	25 Salomone offriva tre volte all'anno olocausti e vittime pacifiche sull'altare ch'egli aveva eretto al Signore e bruciava incensi dinanzi al Signore; e il tempio venne ultimato.
26 King Solomon equipped a fleet at Ezion-Geber, which is near Elath on the shores of the Red Sea, inEdom.	26 Salomone fece altresì una flotta in Asiongaber, che è vicino ad Ailat, sulle spiagge del mar Rosso nella terra di Idumea.
27 For this fleet Hiram sent men of his, experienced sailors, to serve with those in Solomon's service.	27 Iram mandò a quella flotta i suoi uomini, marinari e pratici del mare, insieme ai servi di Salomone,
28 They went to Ophir and took on four hundred and twenty talents of gold, which they brought back toSolomon.	28 i quali essendo andati ad Ofir fecero incetta di quattrocentoventi talenti d'oro e li portarono a Salomone.
