Genesis 35

NEW JERUSALEM	SAGRADA BIBLIA
1 God said to Jacob, 'Move on, go to Bethel and settle there. Make an altar there for the God whoappeared to you when you were fleeing from your brother Esau.'	1 Deus disse a Jacó: "Vamos, sobe a Betel e fica ali, e levanta um altar nesse lugar ao Deus que se manifestou a ti, quando fugias diante de teu irmão Esaú."
2 Jacob said to his family and to all who were with him, 'Get rid of the foreign gods you have with you;cleanse yourselves, and change your clothes.	2 Jacó disse à sua família e à sua gente: "Tirai do meio de vós os deuses estrangeiros, purificai-vos e mudai vossos vestidos.
3 We must move on and go to Bethel. There I shall make an altar for the God who heard me when I wasin distress, and gave me his help on the journey I made.'	3 Vamos subir a Betel, onde levantarei um altar ao Deus que me ouviu no dia de minha aflição, e que esteve comigo durante minha viagem."
4 They gave Jacob al the foreign gods in their possession, and the earrings that they were wearing.Jacob buried them under the oak tree near Shechem.	4 Entregaram a Jacó todos os deuses estrangeiros que tinham, assim como os brincos que traziam nas orelhas, e Jacó enterrou-os debaixo de um terebinto, perto de Siquém.
5 They broke camp; a divine terror struck the towns round about, and no one pursued the sons ofJacob.	5 Partindo eles dali, Deus semeou o pânico nas cidades circunvizinhas, de sorte que não perseguiram os filhos de Jacó.
6 When Jacob arrived at Luz in Canaan -- that is, Bethel-and al the people with him,	6 Chegou, portanto, Jacó com toda a sua gente à Luz, na terra de Canaã, hoje Betel.
7 he built an altar there and named the place El-Bethel, since it was there that God had appeared to himwhen he was fleeing from his brother.	7 Levantou aí um altar e deu a esse lugar o nome de El-Betel, porque foi aí que Deus lhe aparecera, quando fugia diante de seu irmão.
8 Deborah, who had been Rebekah's nurse, died and was buried below Bethel, under the oak tree; sothey named it the Oak of Tears.	8 Foi então que morreu Débora, ama de Rebeca. E foi ali sepultada, ao pé de Betel, debaixo de um carvalho, ao qual se chamou carvalho dos Prantos.
9 God again appeared to Jacob on his return from Paddan-Aram, and blessed him.	9 Quando Jacó voltou de Padã-Arã, Deus apareceu-lhe novamente e o abençoou.
10 God said to him, 'Your name is Jacob, but from now on you wil be cal ed not Jacob but Israel.' Thushe came by the name Israel.	10 "Teu nome, disse-lhe ele, é Jacó. Tu não te chamarás mais assim, mas Israel." E chamou-o Israel.
11 God said to him, 'I am El Shaddai. Be fruitful and multiply. A nation, indeed an assembly of nations,wil descend from you, and kings will issue from your loins.	11 Deus disse-lhe: "Eu sou o Deus todo-poderoso. Sê fecundo e multiplica-te. De ti nascerão um povo e uma assembléia de povos; e de teus rins sairão reis.
12 The country which I gave to Abraham and Isaac, I now give to you; and this country I shal give toyour descendants after you.'	12 A terra que dei a Abraão e a Isaac, eu ta darei e à tua posteridade."
13 Then God went up from him.	13 Depois, Deus retirou-se de junto dele.
14 Jacob raised a monument at the spot where he had spoken to him, a standing-stone, on which hemade a libation and poured oil.	14 No mesmo lugar onde Deus lhe falou, Jacó erigiu uma estela sobre a qual fez uma libação, e derramou óleo.
15 Jacob named the place Bethel where God had spoken to him.	15 E deu o nome de Betel ao lugar onde Deus lhe tinha falado.
16 They left Bethel, and while they were stil some distance from Ephrath, Rachel went into labour, andher pains were severe.	16 E partiram de Betel. Quando estavam a pouca distância de Efrata, Raquel deu à luz, e o seu parto foi penoso.
17 When her labour was at its hardest, the midwife said to her, 'Do not worry, this is going to be anotherboy.'	17 Durante as dores do parto, a parteira disse-lhe: "Não temas, porque ainda terás este filho."
18 At the moment when she breathed her last, for she was dying, she named him Ben-Oni. His father,however, named him Benjamin.	18 E, estando prestes a render a alma - porque estava já agonizante - ela chamou o filho Benoni; o seu pai, porém, chamou-o Benjamim.
19 So Rachel died and was buried on the road to Ephrath, now Bethlehem.	19 Raquel expirou e foi sepultada no caminho de Efrata, hoje Belém.
20 Jacob raised a monument on her grave, that same monument of Rachel's Tomb which is theretoday.	20 Jacó erigiu uma estela sobre seu túmulo; é a estela do túmulo de Raquel, que ainda hoje existe.
21 Israel left and pitched his tent beyond Migdal-Eder.	21 Israel partiu e plantou sua tenda além de Migdal-Eder.
22 While Israel was living in that district, Reuben went and slept with Bilhah his father's concubine, andIsrael found out. The sons of Jacob were now twelve.	22 Foi durante sua estada nessa região que Rubem foi dormir com Bala, concubina de seu pai, e Israel soube.
23 The sons of Leah: Jacob's eldest son Reuben, then Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar and Zebulun.	23 Os filhos de Jacó foram em número de doze. Filhos de Lia: Rubem, primogênito de Jacó, Simeão, Levi, Judá, Issacar e Zabulon.
24 The sons of Rachel: Joseph and Benjamin.	24 Filhos de Raquel: José e Benjamim.
25 The sons of Bilhah, Rachel's slave-girl: Dan and Naphtali.	25 Filhos de Bala, escrava de Raquel: Dã e Neftali.
26 The sons of Zilpah, Leah's slave-girl: Gad and Asher. These were the sons born to Jacob in Paddan-Aram.	26 Filhos de Zelfa, escrava de Lia: Gad e Aser. Tais são os filhos nascidos a Jacó em Padã-Arã.
27 Jacob came home to his father Isaac at Mamre, at Kiriath-Arba -- now Hebron -- where Abraham andIsaac had stayed.	27 Jacó foi para junto de seu pai Isaac em Mambré, em Quiriat-Arbé, hoje Hebron, onde tinham habitado Abraão e Isaac.
28 Isaac was one hundred and eighty years old	28 E todos os dias da vida de Isaac foram cento e oitenta anos.
29 when he breathed his last. He died and was gathered to his people, an old man who had enjoyed hisful span of life. His sons Esau and Jacob buried him.	29 E morreu. A morte reuniu-o aos seus, velho e saciado de dias. Esaú e Jacó, seus filhos, sepultaram-no.
