Genesis 35

NEW JERUSALEM	EINHEITSUBERSETZUNG BIBEL
1 God said to Jacob, 'Move on, go to Bethel and settle there. Make an altar there for the God whoappeared to you when you were fleeing from your brother Esau.'	1 Gott sprach zu Jakob: Zieh nach Bet-El hinauf und lass dich dort nieder! Errichte dort einen Altar dem Gott, der dir auf der Flucht vor deinem Bruder Esau erschienen ist.
2 Jacob said to his family and to all who were with him, 'Get rid of the foreign gods you have with you;cleanse yourselves, and change your clothes.	2 Dann sagte Jakob zu seinem Haus und zu allen, die zu ihm gehörten: Entfernt die fremden Götter aus eurer Mitte, reinigt euch und wechselt eure Kleider!
3 We must move on and go to Bethel. There I shall make an altar for the God who heard me when I wasin distress, and gave me his help on the journey I made.'	3 Wir wollen uns aufmachen und nach Bet-El hinaufziehen. Dort will ich einen Altar für den Gott errichten, der mich am Tag meiner Bedrängnis erhört hat und der auf meinem Weg mit mir war.
4 They gave Jacob al the foreign gods in their possession, and the earrings that they were wearing.Jacob buried them under the oak tree near Shechem.	4 Sie übergaben Jakob alle fremden Götter, die sie hatten, und die Ringe an ihren Ohren. Jakob vergrub sie unter der Eiche bei Sichem.
5 They broke camp; a divine terror struck the towns round about, and no one pursued the sons ofJacob.	5 Dann brachen sie auf. Da überkam ein Gottesschrecken die Städte ringsum und so verfolgten sie die Söhne Jakobs nicht.
6 When Jacob arrived at Luz in Canaan -- that is, Bethel-and al the people with him,	6 Jakob kam nach Lus in Kanaan, das jetzt Bet-El heißt, er und alles Volk, das bei ihm war.
7 he built an altar there and named the place El-Bethel, since it was there that God had appeared to himwhen he was fleeing from his brother.	7 Er baute dort einen Altar und nannte die Stätte «Gott von Bet-El»; denn auf der Flucht vor seinem Bruder hatte Gott sich ihm dort offenbart.
8 Deborah, who had been Rebekah's nurse, died and was buried below Bethel, under the oak tree; sothey named it the Oak of Tears.	8 Debora, die Amme Rebekkas, starb. Man begrub sie unterhalb von Bet-El unter der Eiche. Er gab ihr den Namen Träneneiche.
9 God again appeared to Jacob on his return from Paddan-Aram, and blessed him.	9 Gott erschien Jakob noch einmal nach seiner Rückkehr aus Paddan-Aram und segnete ihn.
10 God said to him, 'Your name is Jacob, but from now on you wil be cal ed not Jacob but Israel.' Thushe came by the name Israel.	10 Gott sprach zu ihm: Dein Name ist Jakob. Dein Name soll jedoch nicht mehr Jakob lauten, sondern Israel soll dein Name sein. Er gab ihm also den Namen Israel.
11 God said to him, 'I am El Shaddai. Be fruitful and multiply. A nation, indeed an assembly of nations,wil descend from you, and kings will issue from your loins.	11 Und Gott sprach zu ihm: Ich bin Gott, der Allmächtige. Sei fruchtbar und vermehre dich! Ein Volk, eine Schar von Völkern soll aus dir hervorgehen, Könige sollen deinen Lenden entstammen.
12 The country which I gave to Abraham and Isaac, I now give to you; and this country I shal give toyour descendants after you.'	12 Das Land, das ich Abraham und Isaak gegeben habe, will ich dir geben und auch deinen Nachkommen will ich es geben.
13 Then God went up from him.	13 Dann fuhr Gott von dem Ort, an dem er mit ihm geredet hatte, zum Himmel auf.
14 Jacob raised a monument at the spot where he had spoken to him, a standing-stone, on which hemade a libation and poured oil.	14 Jakob richtete an dem Ort, wo Gott mit ihm geredet hatte, ein Steinmal, einen Gedenkstein, auf. Darüber schüttete er ein Trankopfer und goss Öl darauf.
15 Jacob named the place Bethel where God had spoken to him.	15 Jakob gab dem Ort, an dem Gott mit ihm geredet hatte, den Namen Bet-El.
16 They left Bethel, and while they were stil some distance from Ephrath, Rachel went into labour, andher pains were severe.	16 Sie brachen von Bet-El auf. Nur ein kleines Stück Weg war es noch bis Efrata, als Rahel gebar. Sie hatte eine schwere Geburt.
17 When her labour was at its hardest, the midwife said to her, 'Do not worry, this is going to be anotherboy.'	17 Als sie bei der Geburt schwer litt, redete ihr die Amme zu: Fürchte dich nicht, auch diesmal hast du einen Sohn.
18 At the moment when she breathed her last, for she was dying, she named him Ben-Oni. His father,however, named him Benjamin.	18 Während ihr das Leben entfloh - sie musste nämlich sterben -, gab sie ihm den Namen Ben-Oni (Unheilskind); sein Vater aber nannte ihn Benjamin (Erfolgskind).
19 So Rachel died and was buried on the road to Ephrath, now Bethlehem.	19 Als Rahel gestorben war, begrub man sie an der Straße nach Efrata, das jetzt Betlehem heißt.
20 Jacob raised a monument on her grave, that same monument of Rachel's Tomb which is theretoday.	20 Jakob errichtete ein Steinmal über ihrem Grab. Das ist das Grabmal Rahels bis auf den heutigen Tag.
21 Israel left and pitched his tent beyond Migdal-Eder.	21 Israel brach auf und schlug sein Zelt jenseits von Migdal-Eder auf.
22 While Israel was living in that district, Reuben went and slept with Bilhah his father's concubine, andIsrael found out. The sons of Jacob were now twelve.	22 Während Israel in jenem Land wohnte, ging Ruben hin und schlief mit Bilha, der Nebenfrau seines Vaters. Israel hörte davon. Jakob hatte zwölf Söhne.
23 The sons of Leah: Jacob's eldest son Reuben, then Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar and Zebulun.	23 Die Söhne Leas waren: Ruben, der Erstgeborene Jakobs, ferner Simeon, Levi, Juda, Issachar und Sebulon.
24 The sons of Rachel: Joseph and Benjamin.	24 Die Söhne Rahels waren: Josef und Benjamin.
25 The sons of Bilhah, Rachel's slave-girl: Dan and Naphtali.	25 Die Söhne Bilhas, der Magd Rahels, waren: Dan und Naftali.
26 The sons of Zilpah, Leah's slave-girl: Gad and Asher. These were the sons born to Jacob in Paddan-Aram.	26 Die Söhne Silpas, der Magd Leas, waren: Gad und Ascher. Das waren die Söhne Jakobs, die ihm in Paddan- Aram geboren wurden.
27 Jacob came home to his father Isaac at Mamre, at Kiriath-Arba -- now Hebron -- where Abraham andIsaac had stayed.	27 Jakob kam zu seinem Vater Isaak nach Mamre, nach Kirjat-Arba, das jetzt Hebron heißt, wo sich Abraham und Isaak als Fremde aufgehalten hatten.
28 Isaac was one hundred and eighty years old	28 Isaak wurde hundertachtzig Jahre alt,
29 when he breathed his last. He died and was gathered to his people, an old man who had enjoyed hisful span of life. His sons Esau and Jacob buried him.	29 dann verschied er. Er starb und wurde mit seinen Vorfahren vereint, betagt und satt an Jahren. Seine Söhne Esau und Jakob begruben ihn.
