1 Finally, brothers, pray for us, so that the word of the Lord may speed forward and be glorified, as it did among you,	1 - Del resto, pregate, o fratelli, per noi, perchè la parola del Signore abbia corso e sia glorificata come presso di voi,
2 and that we may be delivered from perverse and wicked people, for not all have faith.	2 e affinchè noi siamo liberati dagli uomini protervi e malvagi, poichè non è di tutti la fede.
3 But the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one.	3 Ma fedele è Dio che vi conforterà e custodirà dal maligno.
4 We are confident of you in the Lord that what we instruct you, you (both) are doing and will continue to do.	4 Abbiam piena fede in Dio per voi, che voi fate e farete le cose che ordiniamo.
5 May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the endurance of Christ.	5 E il Signore diriga i vostri cuori all'amore di Dio e alla paziente aspettativa di Cristo.
6 We instruct you, brothers, in the name of (our) Lord Jesus Christ,to shun any brother who conducts himself in a disorderly way and not according to the tradition they received from us.	6 Vi prescriviamo poi, o fratelli, nel nome del Signore Gesù Cristo, di tenervi lontani da qualunque fratello che si conduca disordinatamente, e non secondo l'insegnamento che avete ricevuto da noi.
7 For you know how one must imitate us. For we did not act in a disorderly way among you,	7 Poichè voi sapete come ci dovete imitare; non mica in modo disordinato noi abbiamo vissuto fra voi,
8 nor did we eat food received free from anyone. On the contrary, in toil and drudgery, night and day we worked, so as not to burden any of you.	8 nè abbiamo mangiato gratuitamente il pane da nessuno, ma con fatica e pena, notte e giorno lavorando, per non esser di peso ad alcuno di voi.
9 Not that we do not have the right. Rather, we wanted to present ourselves as a model for you, so that you might imitate us.	9 Non che non avessimo la podestà di ciò, ma per dare in noi stessi a voi un esempio da imitare.
10 In fact, when we were with you, we instructed you that if anyone was unwilling to work, neither should that one eat.	10 E quando eravamo presso di voi, questo precetto vi davamo che se uno non vuol lavorare, neppur non deve mangiare.
11 We hear that some are conducting themselves among you in a disorderly way, by not keeping busy but minding the business ofothers.	11 Ma sentiamo dire, che alcuni fra voi si conducono disordinatamente, non facendo nulla ma dandosi da fare in cose che non appartengono loro.
12 Such people we instruct and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to work quietly and to eat their own food.	12 Ora a sì fatti noi prescriviamo ed esortiamo nel Signore Gesù Cristo, che mangino il loro pane lavorando tranquillamente.
13 But you, brothers, do not be remiss in doing good.	13 E voi, o fratelli, non vi stancate di fare il bene.
14 If anyone does not obey our word as expressed in this letter, take note of this person not to associate with him, that he may be put to shame.	14 E se qualcuno non dà retta alla nostra parola per mezzo di questa lettera, costui segnatelo, rammentando di non aver commercio con lui affinchè si vergogni;
15 Do not regard him as an enemy but admonish him as a brother.	15 non dico di trattarlo come nemico, ma ammonitelo come fratello.
16 May the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.	16 E lo stesso Signore della pace dia la pace a voi del continuo in ogni maniera. Il Signore sia con voi tutti.
17 This greeting is in my own hand, Paul's. This is the sign in every letter; this is how I write.	17 Il saluto di mia mano di Paolo, che è come il sigillo di ogni lettera; io scrivo così.
18 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with all of you.	18 La grazia del Signor nostro Gesù Cristo sia con tutti voi.
