1 Corinthians 11

1 Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ.	1 Ahmt mein Beispiel nach, wie auch ich Christi Nachahmer bin!
2 I praise you because you remember me in everything and hold fast to the traditions, just as I handed them on to you.	2 Ich lobe euch, daß ihr in allem meiner eingedenk seid und die Überlieferungen wahret, wie ich sie euch übergeben habe.
3 But I want you to know that Christ is the head of every man, and a husband the head of his wife, and God the head of Christ.	3 Ich möchte aber, daß ihr wisset, daß das Haupt eines jeden Mannes Christus ist; Haupt der Frau ist der Mann, und Haupt Christi ist Gott.
4 Any man who prays or prophesies with his head covered brings shame upon his head.	4 Jeder Mann, der bedeckten Hauptes betet oder prophetisch redet, entehrt sein Haupt.
5 But any woman who prays or prophesies with her head unveiled brings shame upon her head, for it is one and the same thing as if she had had her head shaved.	5 Jede Frau aber, die bei unverhülltem Haupte betet oder prophetisch redet, entehrt ihr Haupt; denn sie ist ein und dasselbe wie eine Geschorene.
6 For if a woman does not have her head veiled, she may as well have her hair cut off. But if it is shameful for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, then she should wear a veil.	6 Denn wenn eine Frau sich nicht verhüllt, möge sie auch die Haare sich abschneiden lassen. Ist es aber schimpflich für eine Frau, sich die Haare abschneiden oder sich scheren zu lassen, so verhülle sie sich [ihr Haupt].
7 A man, on the other hand, should not cover his head, because he is the image and glory of God, but woman is the glory of man.	7 Der Mann nämlich darf sein Haupt nicht verhüllen, weil er Gottes Bild und Abglanz ist; die Frau aber ist des Mannes Abglanz.
8 For man did not come from woman, but woman from man;	8 Denn der Mann ist nicht aus der Frau, sondern die Frau ist aus dem Mann;
9 nor was man created for woman, but woman for man;	9 es wurde ja der Mann auch nicht der Frau wegen geschaffen, sondern die Frau des Mannes wegen.
10 for this reason a woman should have a sign of authority on her head, because of the angels.	10 Darum soll die Frau ein Zeichen der Hoheit auf dem Haupte tragen, der Engel wegen.
11 Woman is not independent of man or man of woman in the Lord.	11 Im übrigen gilt im Herrn weder Frau anders als Mann noch Mann anders als Frau;
12 For just as woman came from man, so man is born of woman; but all things are from God.	12 denn wie die Frau aus dem Mann, so ist auch der Mann durch die Frau, alles aber aus Gott.
13 Judge for yourselves: is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head unveiled?	13 Urteilt bei euch selbst: Ist es schicklich, daß eine Frau unverhüllt zu Gott betet?
14 Does not nature itself teach you that if a man wears his hair long it is a disgrace to him,	14 Lehrt euch nicht schon die Natur, daß es dem Mann, wenn er langes Haar trägt, nicht zur Ehre gereicht?
15 whereas if a woman has long hair it is her glory, because long hair has been given (her) for a covering?	15 Trägt aber die Frau langes Haar, gereicht es ihr zur Ehre. Denn das Haar ist ihr als Schleier gegeben.
16 But if anyone is inclined to be argumentative, we do not have such a custom, nor do the churches of God.	16 Wenn jedoch jemand glaubt, widersprechen zu müssen - wir haben eine derartige Sitte nicht, und auch nicht die Gemeinden Gottes.
17 In giving this instruction, I do not praise the fact that your meetings are doing more harm than good.	17 Bei folgender Anordnung weiß ich kein Lob für euch; denn eure Zusammenkünfte gereichen nicht zum Segen, sondern zum Schaden.
18 First of all, I hear that when you meet as a church there are divisions among you, and to a degree I believe it;	18 Fürs erste nämlich höre ich, daß es Spaltungen unter euch gibt, wenn ihr bei der Versammlung der Gemeinde zusammenkommt, und ich glaube es zum Teil.
19 there have to be factions among you in order that (also) those who are approved among you may become known.	19 Es muß ja Parteiungen unter euch geben, damit die Bewährten unter euch offenbar werden.
20 When you meet in one place, then, it is not to eat the Lord's supper,	20 Wenn ihr also gemeinsam zusammenkommt, so ist das nicht mehr ein Essen des Herrenmahls.
21 for in eating, each one goes ahead with his own supper, and one goes hungry while another gets drunk.	21 Denn ein jeder nimmt beim Essen seine eigene Mahlzeit vorweg, und der eine hungert, indes der andere betrunken ist.
22 Do you not have houses in which you can eat and drink? Or do you show contempt for the church of God and make those who have nothing feel ashamed? What can I say to you? Shall I praise you? In this matter I do not praise you.	22 Habt ihr denn nicht Häuser zum Essen und Trinken? Oder verachtet ihr die Gemeinde Gottes und beschämt jene, die nichts haben? Was soll ich euch sagen? Soll ich euch loben? Hierin lobe ich euch nicht.
23 For I received from the Lord what I also handed on to you, that the Lord Jesus, on the night he was handed over, took bread,	23 Denn ich habe vom Herrn empfangen, was ich euch auch überliefert habe: Der Herr Jesus nahm in der Nacht, in der er verraten wurde, Brot,
24 and, after he had given thanks, broke it and said, "This is my body that is for you. Do this in remembrance of me."	24 sagte Dank, brach es und sprach: "[Nehmt hin und eßt], das ist mein Leib [, der] für euch [hingegeben wird]. Tut dies zu meinem Gedächtnis!"
25 In the same way also the cup, after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me."	25 Ebenso nahm er nach dem Mahl auch den Kelch und sprach: "Dieser Kelch ist der neue Bund in meinem Blute; tut dies, sooft ihr davon trinkt, zu meinem Gedächtnis!"
26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the death of the Lord until he comes.	26 Denn sooft ihr dieses Brot eßt und den Kelch trinkt, verkündet ihr den Tod des Herrn, bis er kommt.
27 Therefore whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord unworthily will have to answer for the body and blood of the Lord.	27 Wer daher unwürdig dieses Brot ißt oder den Kelch des Herrn trinkt, der wird schuldig am Leibe und Blute des Herrn.
28 A person should examine himself, and so eat the bread and drink the cup.	28 Es prüfe ein jeder sich selbst, und so esse er von dem Brot und trinke aus dem Kelch.
29 For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body, eats and drinks judgment on himself.	29 Denn wer [unwürdig] ißt und trinkt, der ißt und trinkt sich das Gericht, da er den Leib [des Herrn] nicht unterscheidet.
30 That is why many among you are ill and infirm, and a considerable number are dying.	30 Darum sind unter euch viele Schwache und Kranke und sind so manche entschlafen.
31 If we discerned ourselves, we would not be under judgment;	31 Gingen wir mit uns selbst ins Gericht, würden wir nicht gerichtet werden.
32 but since we are judged by (the) Lord, we are being disciplined so that we may not be condemned along with the world.	32 Werden wir aber gerichtet vom Herrn, dann erfahren wir Züchtigung, damit wir nicht mit dieser Welt verdammt werden.
33 Therefore, my brothers, when you come together to eat, wait for one another.	33 Darum, meine Brüder: Wenn ihr euch versammelt zum Essen, so wartet aufeinander!
34 If anyone is hungry, he should eat at home, so that your meetings may not result in judgment. The other matters I shall set in order when I come.	34 Hat aber jemand Hunger, der esse zu Haus! damit ihr nicht zum Gericht zusammenkommt. Das übrige aber werde ich anordnen, sobald ich komme.
