NEW AMERICAN BIBLEKING JAMES BIBLE
On the third day there was a wedding in Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there.1 And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:
Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the wedding.2 And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage.
When the wine ran short, the mother of Jesus said to him, "They have no wine."3 And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.
(And) Jesus said to her, "Woman, how does your concern affect me? My hour has not yet come."4 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.
His mother said to the servers, "Do whatever he tells you."5 His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.
Now there were six stone water jars there for Jewish ceremonial washings, each holding twenty to thirty gallons.6 And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.
Jesus told them, "Fill the jars with water." So they filled them to the brim.7 Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.
Then he told them, "Draw some out now and take it to the headwaiter." So they took it.8 And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.
And when the headwaiter tasted the water that had become wine, without knowing where it came from (although the servers who had drawn the water knew), the headwaiter called the bridegroom9 When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,
and said to him, "Everyone serves good wine first, and then when people have drunk freely, an inferior one; but you have kept the good wine until now."10 And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.
Jesus did this as the beginning of his signs in Cana in Galilee and so revealed his glory, and his disciples began to believe in him.11 This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.
After this, he and his mother, (his) brothers, and his disciples went down to Capernaum and stayed there only a few days.12 After this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples: and they continued there not many days.
Since the Passover of the Jews was near, Jesus went up to Jerusalem.13 And the Jews' passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem,
He found in the temple area those who sold oxen, sheep, and doves, as well as the money-changers seated there.14 And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting:
He made a whip out of cords and drove them all out of the temple area, with the sheep and oxen, and spilled the coins of the money-changers and overturned their tables,15 And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables;
and to those who sold doves he said, "Take these out of here, and stop making my Father's house a marketplace."16 And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house an house of merchandise.
His disciples recalled the words of scripture, "Zeal for your house will consume me."17 And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.
At this the Jews answered and said to him, "What sign can you show us for doing this?"18 Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things?
Jesus answered and said to them, "Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up."19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
The Jews said, "This temple has been under construction for forty-six years, and you will raise it up in three days?"20 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days?
But he was speaking about the temple of his body.21 But he spake of the temple of his body.
Therefore, when he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they came to believe the scripture and the word Jesus had spoken.22 When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.
While he was in Jerusalem for the feast of Passover, many began to believe in his name when they saw the signs he was doing.23 Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did.
But Jesus would not trust himself to them because he knew them all,24 But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men,
and did not need anyone to testify about human nature. He himself understood it well.25 And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.
