1 On the third day there was a wedding in Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there.	1 Harmadnapon menyegző volt a galileai Kánában. Ott volt Jézus anyja,
2 Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the wedding.	2 és Jézus is hivatalos volt a menyegzőre tanítványaival együtt.
3 When the wine ran short, the mother of Jesus said to him, "They have no wine."	3 Amikor fogytán volt a bor, Jézus anyja így szólt hozzá: »Nincs boruk!«
4 (And) Jesus said to her, "Woman, how does your concern affect me? My hour has not yet come."	4 Jézus azt felelte neki: »Mi közünk ehhez, asszony? Még nem jött el az én órám!«
5 His mother said to the servers, "Do whatever he tells you."	5 Anyja ekkor ezt mondta a szolgáknak: »Tegyetek meg mindent, amit mond!«
6 Now there were six stone water jars there for Jewish ceremonial washings, each holding twenty to thirty gallons.	6 A zsidók tisztulására volt ott hat kőedény, egyenként két vagy három mérős.
7 Jesus told them, "Fill the jars with water." So they filled them to the brim.	7 Jézus azt mondta nekik: »Töltsétek meg az edényeket vízzel!« Színig töltötték őket.
8 Then he told them, "Draw some out now and take it to the headwaiter." So they took it.	8 Ekkor így szólt hozzájuk: »Most merítsetek, és vigyetek belőle a násznagynak!« Azok vittek neki.
9 And when the headwaiter tasted the water that had become wine, without knowing where it came from (although the servers who had drawn the water knew), the headwaiter called the bridegroom	9 Amint a násznagy megízlelte a borrá vált vizet, mivel nem tudta, hogy honnan való – de a szolgák, akik a vizet merítették, tudták –, odahívta a vőlegényt,
10 and said to him, "Everyone serves good wine first, and then when people have drunk freely, an inferior one; but you have kept the good wine until now."	10 és azt mondta neki: »Minden ember a jó bort adja először, és miután megittasodtak, akkor a kevésbé jót. Te mindeddig tartogattad a jó bort!«
11 Jesus did this as the beginning of his signs in Cana in Galilee and so revealed his glory, and his disciples began to believe in him.	11 Jézus ezzel kezdte meg csodajeleit a galileai Kánában. Kinyilatkoztatta dicsőségét, és tanítványai hittek benne.
12 After this, he and his mother, (his) brothers, and his disciples went down to Capernaum and stayed there only a few days.	12 Azután lement Kafarnaumba, ő és anyja, a testvérei és tanítványai, és ott maradtak néhány napig.
13 Since the Passover of the Jews was near, Jesus went up to Jerusalem.	13 Közel volt a zsidók Pászkája, és Jézus fölment Jeruzsálembe.
14 He found in the temple area those who sold oxen, sheep, and doves, as well as the money-changers seated there.	14 A templomban ökör-, juh- és galambkereskedőket talált, s az odatelepedett pénzváltókat.
15 He made a whip out of cords and drove them all out of the temple area, with the sheep and oxen, and spilled the coins of the money-changers and overturned their tables,	15 Akkor kötelekből ostort font, és mindnyájukat kizavarta a templomból a juhokkal és az ökrökkel együtt, a pénzváltók pénzét szétszórta, az asztalaikat fölforgatta.
16 and to those who sold doves he said, "Take these out of here, and stop making my Father's house a marketplace."	16 A galambárusoknak pedig azt mondta: »Vigyétek el innen ezeket, ne tegyétek Atyám házát vásárcsarnokká!«
17 His disciples recalled the words of scripture, "Zeal for your house will consume me."	17 Akkor tanítványai visszaemlékeztek arra, hogy írva van: »Emészt engem a buzgóság házadért« .
18 At this the Jews answered and said to him, "What sign can you show us for doing this?"	18 A zsidók azonban megszólították, és azt kérdezték tőle: »Milyen csodajelet mutatsz nekünk, hogy ezeket cselekszed?«
19 Jesus answered and said to them, "Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up."	19 Jézus azt felelte nekik: »Bontsátok le ezt a templomot, és én három nap alatt fölépítem azt!«
20 The Jews said, "This temple has been under construction for forty-six years, and you will raise it up in three days?"	20 A zsidók erre így szóltak: »Negyvenhat esztendeig épült ez a templom, és te három nap alatt fölépítenéd?«
21 But he was speaking about the temple of his body.	21 De ő a saját testének templomáról mondta ezt.
22 Therefore, when he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they came to believe the scripture and the word Jesus had spoken.	22 Amikor föltámadt a halálból, tanítványai visszaemlékeztek, hogy ezt mondta, és hittek az Írásnak, és a szónak, amelyet Jézus mondott.
