1 The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ (the Son of God).	1 Inizio dell’evangelo di Gesù Cristo, Figlio di Dio.
2 As it is written in Isaiah the prophet: "Behold, I am sending my messenger ahead of you; he will prepare your way.	2 Come sta scritto nel profeta Isaia: Ecco io mando il mio messaggero dinanzi a te, perché ti prepari la via;
3 A voice of one crying out in the desert: 'Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight his paths.'"	3 voce di uno che grida nel deserto: Preparate la via del Signore, appianate i suoi sentieri,
4 John (the) Baptist appeared in the desert proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.	4 Giovanni venne nel deserto a predicare un battesimo di penitenza in remissione dei peccati.
5 People of the whole Judean countryside and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem were going out to him and were being baptized by him in the Jordan River as they acknowledged their sins.	5 E a lui accorrevano tutta la Giudea e tutti i gerosolimitani, e si facevano battezzare da lui nel fiume Giordano, confessando i loro peccati.
6 John was clothed in camel's hair, with a leather belt around his waist. He fed on locusts and wild honey.	6 Ed era, Giovanni, vestito di peli di cammello, con una cintura di cuoio intorno ai fianchi, e si nutriva di cavallette e di miele selvatico.
7 And this is what he proclaimed: "One mightier than I is coming after me. I am not worthy to stoop and loosen the thongs of his sandals.	7 E predicava dicendo: «Viene dopo di me colui che è più potente di me, ed io non son degno di chinarmi a sciogliere la cinghia dei suoi sandali.
8 I have baptized you with water; he will baptize you with the holy Spirit."	8 Io vi ho battezzato con acqua, ma egli vi battezzerà con Spirito Santo».
9 It happened in those days that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized in the Jordan by John.	9 Accadde in quei giorni che Gesù venne da Nazaret di Galilea e si fece battezzare da Giovanni nel Giordano.
10 On coming up out of the water he saw the heavens being torn open and the Spirit, like a dove, descending upon him.	10 E, appena uscito dall’acqua, vide i cieli squarciati e lo Spirito, come una colomba, discendere sopra di lui.
11 And a voice came from the heavens, "You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased."	11 E una voce venne dai cieli: «Tu sei il mio Figlio diletto; in te mi son compiaciuto».
12 At once the Spirit drove him out into the desert,	12 Subito dopo, lo Spirito lo spinge nel deserto,
13 and he remained in the desert for forty days, tempted by Satan. He was among wild beasts, and the angels ministered to him.	13 E nel deserto rimase per quaranta giorni, tentato da Satana; e viveva con le bestie selvagge, e gli angeli lo servivano.
14 After John had been arrested, Jesus came to Galilee proclaiming the gospel of God:	14 Dopo che Giovanni fu messo in prigione, Gesù venne in Galilea, predicando l’evangelo di Dio
15 "This is the time of fulfillment. The kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel."	15 e dicendo: «Il tempo è compiuto e il regno di Dio è qui; ravvedetevi e credete all'evangelo».
16 As he passed by the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting their nets into the sea; they were fishermen.	16 E, mentre camminava lungo il mare di Galilea, vide Simone ed Andrea, fratello di Simone, che gettavano il giacchio in mare: erano, infatti, pescatori.
17 Jesus said to them, "Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men."	17 Gesù disse loro: «Seguitemi, ed io vi farò diventare pescatori di uomini».
18 Then they abandoned their nets and followed him.	18 E quelli, abbandonate all’istante le reti, lo seguirono.
19 He walked along a little farther and saw James, the son of Zebedee, and his brother John. They too were in a boat mending their nets.	19 Un po’ più avanti, vide Giacomo di Zebedeo e Giovanni suo fratello, anch’essi nella barca a riattare le reti.
20 Then he called them. So they left their father Zebedee in the boat along with the hired men and followed him.	20 E subito li chiamò. E quelli, lasciando il loro padre Zebedeo nella barca con i garzoni, lo seguirono.
21 Then they came to Capernaum, and on the sabbath he entered the synagogue and taught.	21 E giunsero a Cafarnao; e subito, il sabato, entrò nella sinagoga e si mise a insegnare.
22 The people were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as one having authority and not as the scribes.	22 Ed erano stupefatti del suo insegnamento, perché li istruiva come chi ha autorità e non come gli scribi.
23 In their synagogue was a man with an unclean spirit;	23 Si trovava, appunto, nella loro sinagoga un uomo posseduto da uno spirito immondo, che gridò:
24 he cried out, "What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are--the Holy One of God!"	24 «Basta! Che abbiamo da vedere con te, Gesù di Nazaret? Sei tu venuto per mandarci in perdizione? Io so chi sei tu: il Santo di Diol».
25 Jesus rebuked him and said, "Quiet! Come out of him!"	25 Ma Gesù gli intimò: «Taci! Esci da costui!»
26 The unclean spirit convulsed him and with a loud cry came out of him.	26 E lo spirito immondo, sbattendolo e urlando, uscì dall’uomo.
27 All were amazed and asked one another, "What is this? A new teaching with authority. He commands even the unclean spirits and they obey him."	27 E tutti ne furono così stupefatti che si domandavano tra loro: «Che è questo? Un insegnamento nuovo, impartito con autorità! Egli comanda perfino agli spiriti immondi ed essi gli obbediscono!»
28 His fame spread everywhere throughout the whole region of Galilee.	28 E la sua fama subito si sparse dovunque, in tutti i dintorni della Galilea.
29 On leaving the synagogue he entered the house of Simon and Andrew with James and John.	29 E subito, uscito dalla sinagoga, entrò in casa di Simone e di Andrea, con Giacomo e Giovanni.
30 Simon's mother-in-law lay sick with a fever. They immediately told him about her.	30 Ora, la suocera di Simone era a letto febbricitante. Subito gli parlarono di lei;
31 He approached, grasped her hand, and helped her up. Then the fever left her and she waited on them.	31 ed egli, avvicinatosi, la prese per mano e la fece alzare; e la febbre la lasciò, ed essa si mise a servirli.
32 When it was evening, after sunset, they brought to him all who were ill or possessed by demons.	32 Venuta la sera, dopo il tramonto del sole, gli portavano tutti gli ammalati e i posseduti dal demonio.
33 The whole town was gathered at the door.	33 Tutta la città era radunata davanti alla porta.
34 He cured many who were sick with various diseases, and he drove out many demons, not permitting them to speak because they knew him.	34 Ed egli guarì molti ammalati afflitti da diversi malanni e cacciò molti demoni; ma impediva loro di parlare, perché essi sapevano chi era lui.
35 Rising very early before dawn, he left and went off to a deserted place, where he prayed.	35 L’indomani mattina, molto prima del giorno, si levò, uscì e si ritirò in un luogo solitario, e là pregava.
36 Simon and those who were with him pursued him	36 Simone e i suoi compagni partirono alla sua ricerca,
37 and on finding him said, "Everyone is looking for you."	37 e avendolo trovato gli dissero: «Tutti ti cercano!»
38 He told them, "Let us go on to the nearby villages that I may preach there also. For this purpose have I come."	38 Ma egli rispose: «Andiamo altrove, nei villaggi vicini, affinché possa predicare anche là; perché per questo sono venuto».
39 So he went into their synagogues, preaching and driving out demons throughout the whole of Galilee.	39 E se ne andò per tutta la Galilea, predicando nelle loro sinagoghe e scacciando i demoni.
40 A leper came to him (and kneeling down) begged him and said, "If you wish, you can make me clean."	40 E viene a lui un lebbroso, lo supplica e, cadendo in ginocchio, gli dice: «Se vuoi, puoi mondarmi!»
41 Moved with pity, he stretched out his hand, touched him, and said to him, "I do will it. Be made clean."	41 Gesù, impietositosi, stese la mano, lo toccò e gli disse: «Lo voglio! Sii mondato!»
42 The leprosy left him immediately, and he was made clean.	42 E subito la lebbra lo lasciò e fu mondato.
43 Then, warning him sternly, he dismissed him at once.	43 E Gesù lo licenziò severamente,
44 Then he said to him, "See that you tell no one anything, but go, show yourself to the priest and offer for your cleansing what Moses prescribed; that will be proof for them."	44 dicendogli: «Bada, non dir nulla a nessuno, va’, mostrati al sacerdote ed offri per la tua guarigione ciò che Mosè ha prescritto in testimonianza per loro».
45 The man went away and began to publicize the whole matter. He spread the report abroad so that it was impossible for Jesus to enter a town openly. He remained outside in deserted places, and people kept coming to him from everywhere.	45 Ma, appena uscito, quegli si mise a proclamare e divulgare il fatto, in modo che Gesù non poteva più entrare apertamente in una città, ma se ne stava fuori, in luoghi deserti, e da ogni parte venivano a lui.
