NEW AMERICAN BIBLE	JERUSALEM
1 The LORD said to Moses,	1 Yahvé parla à Moïse et dit:
2 "Give the Israelites this order: When you enter the land of Canaan, this is the territory that shall fall to you as your heritage--the land of Canaan with its boundaries:	2 "Ordonne ceci aux Israélites, tu leur diras: Quand vous entrerez dans le pays (de Canaan), voici lepays qui deviendra votre héritage. C'est le pays de Canaan selon ses frontières.
3 "Your southern boundary shall be at the desert of Zin along the border of Edom; on the east it shall begin at the end of the Salt Sea,	3 La région méridionale de votre domaine s'étendra à partir du désert de Cîn, qui confine à Edom.Votre frontière méridionale commencera du côté de l'orient à l'extrémité de la mer Salée.
4 and turning south of the Akrabbim Pass, it shall cross Zin, and extend south of Kadesh-barnea to Hazar-addar; thence it shall cross to Azmon,	4 Puis elle obliquera au sud, vers la montée des Scorpions, passera par Cîn et aboutira au midi àCadès-Barné. Puis elle ira vers Haçar-Addar et passera par Açmôn.
5 and turning from Azmon to the Wadi of Egypt, shall terminate at the Sea.	5 D'Açmôn, la frontière obliquera ensuite vers le Torrent d'Egypte et aboutira à la Mer.
6 "For your western boundary you shall have the Great Sea with its coast; this shall be your western boundary.	6 Vous aurez pour frontière maritime la Grande Mer; cette limite vous servira de frontière àl'occident.
7 "The following shall be your boundary on the north: from the Great Sea you shall draw a line to Mount Hor,	7 Et voici votre frontière septentrionale. Vous tracerez une ligne depuis la Grande Mer jusqu'à Hor-la-Montagne,
8 and shall continue it from Mount Hor to Labo in the land of Hamath, with the boundary extending through Zedad.	8 puis de Hor-la-Montagne vous tracerez une ligne jusqu'à l'Entrée de Hamat, et la frontièreaboutira à Cedad.
9 Thence the boundary shall reach to Ziphron and terminate at Hazar-enan. This shall be your northern boundary.	9 Elle ira vers Ziphrôn et aboutira à Haçar-Enân. Elle sera votre frontière septentrionale.
10 "For your eastern boundary you shall draw a line from Hazar-enan to Shepham.	10 Puis vous tracerez votre frontière orientale de Haçar-Enân à Shepham.
11 From Shepham the boundary shall go down to Ar-Baal, east of Ain, and descending further, shall strike the ridge on the east side of the Sea of Chinnereth;	11 La frontière descendra de Shepham vers Harbel, à l'orient de Ayîn. Descendant encore elletouchera la rive orientale de la mer de Kinnérèt.
12 thence the boundary shall continue along the Jordan and terminate with the Salt Sea. "This is the land that shall be yours, with the boundaries that surround it."	12 La frontière suivra alors le Jourdain pour aboutir à la mer Salée. Tel sera votre pays avec lesfrontières qui en font le tour."
13 Moses also gave this order to the Israelites: "This is the land, to be apportioned among you by lot, which the LORD has commanded to be given to the nine and one half tribes.	13 Moïse ordonna alors ceci aux Israélites: "Voici le pays que vous vous partagerez par le sort, etque Yahvé a prescrit de donner aux neuf tribus et à la demi-tribu.
14 For all the ancestral houses of the tribe of Reuben, and the ancestral houses of the tribe of Gad, as well as half of the tribe of Manasseh, have already received their heritage;	14 Car la tribu des fils de Ruben avec ses familles et la tribu des fils de Gad avec ses familles ontdéjà reçu leur héritage; la demi-tribu de Manassé a aussi reçu son héritage.
15 these two and one half tribes have received their heritage on the eastern side of the Jericho stretch of the Jordan, toward the sunrise."	15 Ces deux tribus et la demi-tribu ont reçu leur héritage au-delà du Jourdain de Jéricho, à l'orient,au levant."
16 The LORD said to Moses,	16 Yahvé parla à Moïse et dit:
17 "These are the names of the men who shall apportion the land among you: Eleazar the priest, and Joshua, son of Nun,	17 "Voici les noms des hommes qui vous partageront le pays: Eléazar le prêtre et Josué fils de Nûn,
18 and one prince from each of the tribes whom you shall designate for this task.	18 et pour chaque tribu vous prendrez un prince pour le partage du pays.
19 These shall be as follows: from the tribe of Judah: Caleb, son of Jephunneh,	19 Voici les noms de ces hommes: Pour la tribu de Juda, Caleb, fils de Yephunné;
20 from the tribe of Simeon: Samuel, son of Ammihud;	20 pour la tribu des fils de Siméon, Shemuel, fils d'Ammihud;
21 from the tribe of Benjamin: Elidad, son of Chislon;	21 pour la tribu de Benjamin, Elidad, fils de Kislôn;
22 from the tribe of Dan: Bukki, son of Jogli;	22 pour la tribu des fils de Dan, le prince Buqqi, fils de Yogli;
23 from the tribe of Manasseh: Hanniel, son of Ephod; and	23 pour les fils de Joseph, pour la tribu des fils de Manassé, le prince Hanniel, fils d'Ephod;
24 from the tribe of Ephraim: Kemuel, son of Shiphtan, for the descendants of Joseph;	24 et pour la tribu des fils d'Ephraïm, le prince Qemuel, fils de Shiphtân;
25 from the tribe of Zebulun: Elizaphan, son of Parnach;	25 pour la tribu de Zabulon, le prince Eliçaphân, fils de Parnak;
26 from the tribe of Issachar: Paltiel, son of Azzan;	26 pour la tribu des fils d'Issachar, le prince Paltiel, fils d'Azzân;
27 from the tribe of Asher: Ahihud, son of Shelomi;	27 pour la tribu des fils d'Asher, le prince Ahiud, fils de Shelomi;
28 from the tribe of Naphtali: Pedahel, son of Ammihud."	28 pour la tribu des fils de Nephtali, le prince Pedahel, fils d'Ammihud."
29 These are they whom the LORD commanded to assign the Israelites their heritage in the land of Canaan.	29 Tels sont ceux à qui Yahvé ordonna d'assigner aux Israélites leur part d'héritage en terre deCanaan.
