1 Do no evil, and evil will not overtake you;	1 Non fare il male, e il male non verrà sopra di te.
2 avoid wickedness, and it will turn aside from you.	2 Partiti dall'uom perverso, e sarai lungi dal male.
3 Sow not in the furrows of injustice, lest you harvest it sevenfold.	3 Figliuolo, non seminare cattiva semenza ne' solchi dell'ingiustizia, e non avrai da mieterne il settuplo.
4 Seek not from the LORD authority, nor from the king a place of honor.	4 Non chiedere al Signore di esser condottiere di altri, né al re un posto di onore.
5 Parade not your justice before the Lord, and before the king flaunt not your wisdom.	5 Non ti spacciare per giusto dinanzi a Dio; perocché egli è conoscitore de' cuori, e non allettare di comparire sapiente dinanzi al re.
6 Seek not to become a judge if you have not strength to root out crime, Or you will show favor to the ruler and mar your integrity.	6 Non cercare di essere fatto pudice; se non hai petto da farti largo a traverso dell'iniquità: affinchè non avvenga, che tu temendo la faccia di un potente, abbi da esporre alle cadute la tua equità.
7 Be guilty of no evil before the city's populace, nor disgrace yourself before the assembly.	7 Guardati dall'offendere la moltitudine della città; e non ti gettare in mezzo al popolo.
8 Do not plot to repeat a sin; not even for one will you go unpunished.	8 Non congiungere peccato con peccato: perocché nemmen per un solo non sarai esente da pena.
9 Say not: "He will appreciate my many gifts; the Most High will accept my offerings."	9 Guardati dall'aver un cuor pusillanime:
10 Be not impatient in prayers, and neglect not the giving of alms.	10 Non trascurar l'orazione, e il far limosina.
11 Laugh not at an embittered man; be mindful of him who exalts and humbles.	11 Non dire: Iddio avrà riguardo a' molti miei doni, e quand'io offerirò i miei doni all'Altissimo, ei gli accetterà.
12 Plot no mischief against your brother, nor against your friend and companion.	12 Non ti burlare di un uomo, che ha il cuore afflitto; perocché quegli, che umilia, ed esalta, egli è Dio, che tutto vede.
13 Delight not in telling lie after lie, for it never results in good.	13 Non inventar menzogne contro del tuo fratello; e noi fare similmente contro l'amico.
14 Thrust not yourself into the deliberations of princes, and repeat not the words of your prayer.	14 Guardati dal proferire alcuna menzogna; perché l'avvezzarsi a ciò non è cosa buona.
15 Hate not laborious tasks, nor farming, which was ordained by the Most High.	15 Non essere verboso nella adunanza de' seniori; e non ripeter parola nella tua orazione.
16 Do not esteem yourself better than your fellows; remember, his wrath will not delay.	16 Non odiare le opere di fatica, né l'agricoltura istituita dall'Altissimo.
17 More and more, humble your pride; what awaits man is worms.	17 Non ti associare alla turba degli indisciplinati.
18 Barter not a friend for money, nor a dear brother for the gold of Ophir.	18 Ricorditi dell'ira, la quale non sarà lenta.
19 Dismiss not a sensible wife; a gracious wife is more precious than corals.	19 Umilia grandemente il tuo spirito: perocché il fuoco, e il verme puniranno la carne dell'empio.
20 Mistreat not a servant who faithfully serves, nor a laborer who devotes himself to his task.	20 Non venir in rottura coll'amico, che tarda a renderti del denaro; e non disprezzare un fratello carissimo in confronto dell'oro.
21 Let a wise servant be dear to you as your own self; refuse him not his freedom.	21 Non ti separar da una donna giudiziosa, e dabbene, la quale nel timor del Signore ti toccò in sorte; perocché la grazia della sua verecondia val più che l'oro.
22 If you have livestock, look after them; if they are dependable, keep them.	22 Non maltrattare il tuo servo, che opera con fedeltà; né il mercenario, che consuma per te la sua vita.
23 If you have sons, chastise them; bend their necks from childhood.	23 Il servo sensato sia amato da te, come l'anima tua, non gli negare la sua libertà, e nol lasciare in miseria.
24 If you have daughters, keep them chaste, and be not indulgent to them.	24 Hai tu de' bestiami? va a visitarli; e se sono utili, restino presso di te.
25 Giving your daughter in marriage ends a great task; but give her to a worthy man.	25 Hai tu de' figliuoli? istruiscili, e domali dalla loro puerizia.
26 If you have a wife, let her not seem odious to you; but where there is ill-feeling, trust her not.	26 Hai tu delle figliuole? custodisci la loro verginità, e non mostrar ad esse il viso ridente.
27 With your whole heart honor your father; your mother's birthpangs forget not.	27 Da a marito la figliuola, ed hai fatto un'opera grande; ma dalla ad un uomo sensato.
28 Remember, of these parents you were born; what can you give them for all they gave you?	28 Se tu hai una moglie secondo cuor tuo, non la mandar via; e nondarti ad una, che sia odiosa.
29 With all your soul, fear God, revere his priests.	29 Con tutto il cuor tuo onora il padre tuo; e non ti scordare de' gemiti di tua madre.
30 With all your strength, love your Creator, forsake not his ministers.	30 Ricordati, che senza di essi tu non saresti nato; e rendi ad essi secondo quello, che han fatto per te.
31 Honor God and respect the priest; give him his portion as you have been commanded: First fruits and contributions, due sacrifices and holy offerings.	31 Temi il Signore con tutta l'anima tua, e onora i suoi sacerdoti.
32 To the poor man also extend your hand, that your blessing may be complete;	32 Con tutte le tue forze ama colui, che ti ha creato: e non abbandonare i suoi ministri.
33 Be generous to all the living, and withhold not your kindness from the dead.	33 Onora il Signore con tutta l'anima tua, e rispetta i sacerdoti; e mondati offerendo le spalle (delle ostie).
34 Avoid not those who weep, but mourn with those who mourn;	34 Da ad essi la parte delle primizie, e (delle ostie) di espiazione, come fu a te comandato; e mondati dalla tua negligenza colle poche (vittime).
35 Neglect not to visit the sick-- for these things you will be loved.	35 Offerirai in dono al Signore le spalle delle tue vittime, e il sagrifizio di santificazione, e le primizie delle cose sante:
36 In whatever you do, remember your last days, and you will never sin.	36 E stendi al povero la tua mano (affinchè sia perfetta la tua propiziazione, e la tua benedizione).
	37 La beneficenza è gradita a tutti i viventi; e tu non negarla nemmeno ai morti.
	38 Non mancare di porgere consolazione a chi piange; e tieni compagnia agli afflitti.
	39 Non ti paia greve il visitare il malato; perocché per tali mezzi ti fonderai nella carità.
	40 In tutte le tue azioni ricordati del tuo ultimo fine, e non peccherai in eterno.
